Body bagger:
Will see alot of play as far as I can tell, maybe in wild you’d prefer murmy or something, probably not though.
Runeforging:
If death knight receives good weapons this will see play, simple.
Chillfallen baron:
Nice card, draws 2, contests the board, leaves a corpse, also is the only non frost rune generic card draw so far I’m pretty sure
Malignant horror:
I don’t like this card right now, unless death knight gets alot of corpse generation I don’t see them wasting 5 of them on a subpar body that’ll keep robbing them of corpses. Atleast if your opponent full clears it it’ll have only cost you one corpse I guess
Corpse bride:
Atleast when compared to malignant horror this ones pretty nice, 5 corpses for a 5/5 versus 5 for a 2/4 reborn, personally I think the extra cost is a worthy tradeoff here as atleast your actually generating threats here.
Either way I’d like to see more cards that net you multiple corpses or I’m gonna start believing we’re expected to run ram commander and maybe even reef walker and grim necromancer in at least every unholy build maybe even in other runes aswell.
Edit: since grim necromancer is undead and so are her skeletons she might not actually be that bad, still would like for something more interesting.
Alright, some cards to look at;
Body Bagger - As much as corpses are important, this card is just too vanilla in my opinion. Its like playing a 1/3 in your deck that does nothing else. Too bad this isn't 2016, where that alone would have been enough.
Malignant Horror - To be honest, if DK can buff minions this card might just be insane enough to actually see play. Even without buffing essentially you're paying 1 corpse for two 2/4 reborn minions for 4 mana. What's there not to love? Only way it doesn't get played is redundancy, either there being better cards or the deck simply doesn't care for sticky minions.
Corpse Bride - A casual 12/12 worth of stats for 5 mana, sure why not? Yeah it takes up 8 corpses, but if it wins you the game then nothing to it. Unholy decks would love it
Runeforging - Just broken, but there's always the chance that DK simply doesn't have many weapons other than frostmourne, which even discounted is fairly worthless today.
Chillfallen Baron - A slower arcane intellect that comes with a 2/2.
Runeforging is insane, everyother weapon class should now be feeling inadequate lol
If Chillfallen Baron had different stats it would be great.
Everything else is meh, I think.
Especially now that Blizzard showed us the new Frostmourne.
Malignant Horror almost seems anti-synergistic with some of the other cards we’ve seen so far. If it summons a bunch of copies it’ll leave no corpses for some of the other big payoff cards. But then again, if it summons a lot of copies you have board presence that the opponent has to deal with!
Also, because it’s a copy, not “another” that means it may copy without the reborn keyword. So maybe not as sticky as I first thought it might be. It’s definitely a good buff target though!
Pretty sure it'll summon another one with reborn. And all in all it'll leave you with at least 3-4 corpses when dead, so the net spend is really not that much as it looks.
All the requirement does is making it hard to play on curve.
The first one for sure will have reborn. After that it depends on if the opponent kills it to remove the keyword. But yeah, as everyone's been saying the multiple minions with reborn help to reload the the corpses. So ultimately that is a plus. I still think time will tell with this one, and it's going to depend a lot on how you build the deck. To me this seems okay in most decks, potentially pretty good in a board based deck that wants to also play minion buffs.
Also, buffs should carry over, so that might be a big payoff.
The Horror and its copies also refund some of the Corpses when they die, doubly so with the Reborn. They are not Risen and thus contribute to the Corpse pile, meaning the cost isn't too extravagant for what you're getting.
Body Bagger - 1 mana 1/3 that synergizes with Corpses: this card was printed to give the class an opener, so no way it doesn't see play.
Runeforging - If I am not wrong, this is the cheapest weapon tutor we've ever received, in a class that should make good use of it. Another 5 start card.
Corpse Bride - Assuming the summoned token doesn't have any other keywords, I am a bit hesitant.
Malignant Horror - As things are right now, I am not sure you want a card that always consumes your Corpses, as there are other excellent ways to spend them (Defrost, Runeforging). On the other hand, this card is very sticky has the potential to snowball like crazy, so it's not bad by any means. It will come down to how easy you can generate 5 Corpses by turn 4.
Chillfallen Baron - 3 mana draw 2, but the body is terrible: I am leaning towards "not good enough", but I have a feeling this won't age well.
I'm assuming the Risen Groom will be Undead, but that's based just on flavor and on Corpse Bride being Undead herself. Summoning two 4/4's for 5 mana seems plausible and pretty good.
Malignant Horror consumes 5 corpses but eventually gives you 4 back, so it's not too bad in the long term. But 5 corpses by turn 4 seems ambitious, unless there are a lot of minions that provide more than 1 corpse a piece. Another option is buffing it, but a 4 mana base cost makes it difficult to buff on board while handbuff requires a lot of support. Probably the weakest card of the bunch.
The small body of Chillfallen Baron is both a downside and an upside: if it dies, you'll have one more corpse and you don't have to wait long for your second card.
However, in that case, I wonder if you don't just run Bloodmage Thalnos (which will have the Undead tribe tag once patch 25.0 goes live), since its draws one less card for one less mana and has Spell Damage.
For decks that care about spell damage, Thalnos may be an option. But drawing two instead of one is the difference between expanding your hand and the card only replacing itself; that difference is generally worth more than 1 mana. I don't think Arcane Intellect would see play outside the greediest of combo decks if it was 2 mana draw 1.
You're right, but AI sees play at 3 mana because you immediately draw the two cards, while Chillfallen Baron is a 3 mana draw one now and another one later, which I don't think is necessarily a good thing.
I think this debate will be solved by actual gameplay, but it's nice seeing cards that aren't blatantly overpowered.
I love it.
