That's a cute way to bring back the fan-favorite mechanic.

That being said, this is probably not that good, Build-a-Beast often whiffed, you usually only got the good stuff after a few tries. Not to mention that the pool of beasts to build from is much worse then it was back in the day.

    I tried having fun once.

    It was awful.

.. and it makes Deathstalker Rexxar slightly less legendary and unique

Probably not good. As we have experienced, Deathstalker Rexxar in standard right now isn't really any good, its actually worse than tavish if you can believe that.

Another problem being the beast pool is full of unplayable stuff. Without lifesteal beasts like Vicious Scalehide, the whole zombeast thing tends to fall apart really quickly, because its slow as hell.

That said, it might actually see play, because midrange hunter needs some reload, and while it isn't good its still reload. There might be more synergies with zombeasts, because Im fairly sure team5 would be aware of how shit it is in standard.

Oh hey, Deathstalker Rexxar's hero power on a minion, so that, barring copying, you can use it a maximum of twice, and it isn't available at all times. And I have no idea if Rexxar is even any good today. Zombeast possibilities will be different, but given the rest, I feel doubtful.

Reusing old unique abilities...well, making them no longer unique...Imagine another card that can give you Improved Secrets... wouldn't put it past Blizzard. Regardless, I'll probably play this just to see the different combinations of standard beasts you get now but doubt it'll be any good. We already have Deathstalker Rexxar in Standard atm and isn't seeing any play...outside of substituting for Tavish if you don't own him.

I actually love that they brought the mechanic back.  Deathstalker Rexxar is the OG zombeast creator, I don't see this as diminishing him in any way.

Crafting a zombeast is often quite decent, and its on a 2 drop which makes it so you can get a zombeast WAY earlier. The problem with Deathstalker Rexxar is that you needed 6 mana in order to play Deathstalker Rexxar, which made it take a lot longer before you could get a zombeast out. But now you can get to the fun of making a zombeast a lot earlier, which is a huge deal for this card.

I think this might see play, just because you can get this effect quite early.

RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.

"Hunter is going to be Team Silvermoon this expansion."

"But I wanna bring back Build-a-Beast!"

"Ugh, fine, you get one card."

"Can I do anything special with it, maybe add some mana-che..."

"-NO! You may reference it and that's that!"

The main strength of Deathstalker Rexxar is the value of constantly creating the big beasts and board answers. Here it's a neat callback, but Zombeasts tend to be expensive piles of stats more often than not.

Nice throwback to the Deathstalker! Not sure if it'll be any good, but it's a fun card, at least!
