Oh boy! Dean Ayala has announced that some cards may be getting their nerfs removed when the next expansion releases.
Dean was out on the official forums very late last night talking about the Standard meta where he dropped the bomb. We don't know which cards will be changed back to their original glory or if they will being doing so at all, but we should expect an update "soon". If I were to gamble, I'd expect to see that information alongside the "Year of the" announcement that is likely hitting at the end of this month.
Eligible Cards Nerfed During Year of the Dragon
These are all the card changes we saw during Year of the Dragon that will be rotating into Wild this April.
- Dr. Boom, Mad Genius - Cost increased to 9. (Up from 7)
- Ghostly Charger - Beast tag was removed.
- Giggling Inventor - Cost increased to 7. (Up from 5)
- Raiding Party - Cost increased to 4. (Up from 3)
- Reckless Experimenter - Appended the text "Cost can't be reduced below 1."
The changes to Extra Arms and Luna's Pocket Galaxy are not listed here since they both were buffed and then reset back to their original costs and we're not sure if that makes them eligible.
Quote From Dean Ayala For Wild, we’re looking at some of the nerfs we made to cards that rotate into Wild with the next expansion and seeing if we want to revert any of them. Will have more updates on that soon ™. Good luck and have fun!

I'm all for reverting Yogg and changing Warsong to something useful again (the old version giving rush instead of charge seems reasonable).
But I'm not sure we want Patches having charge again, nor even rush. Unlike Yogg and Warsong he's still good and gets used.
It would be fun to see some dudes posting pictures of Embiggen Druid with a 5/5 charge on turn 1...
That would happen only together with a general overhaul of the evergreen set
Reckless Experimenter makes the most sense... Now that they nerfed echo they can unnerf experimenter
I can't see any of those cards having any major impact in the current Wild meta, even if unnerfed.
I can't see Dr. Boom, Mad Genius seeing play at 7 mana in -Standard- if they un-nerfed him right this minute, what does THAT tell you?
Powercreep happened so hard over the year, it's actually insane how many formerly OP cards got shut out of the meta. It almost doesn't even feel like we're about to rotate because of how much stuff got left behind in the dust, figuratively and literally for those who take refunds on cards that don't get played!
Yeah. Zilliax was a meta staple, now I barely see him at all. IDK if that's accurate since I'm f2p and in the low ranks consistently, but he doesn't show up much.
I mean at least he might make Control Warrior somewhat good again. Maybe even cards like Foe Reaper can be better with him.
I got pretty excited thinking about all of the old cards that got nerfed in the early days of hearthstone that I would like to see un-nerfed. It would be interesting seeing if a 2/1 Leper Gnome would still be as good now as it was back then. But then I saw that it will probably only be cards from this year that got nerfed and I was a little disappointed.
Unnerfing Leper Gnome would probably make Toxic Reinforcements quite a bit better.
Oh yeah, I didn't think about that.
I would still like to see some other cards that got nerfed years ago reverted back. It would be fun to play with un-nerfed Knife Juggler, Novice Engineer, or Abusive Sergeant or other such cards.
Nice clickbait by putting Yogg in the thumbnail
We're all waiting for it so with Blizzard at least considering reverting some card changes, it leaves more hope than ever that it could happen.
Yeah, I came in hoping to see that our Lord and Savior, the Almighty "Yogg-Saron" was going to be returned to it's former awesome status. I would love to play Yogg in wild. Le /sigh... we shall see, I mean they did revert Molten Giant when it went HoF.
Just sitting here, waiting on Yogg-Saron, Hope's End to be reverted.
I think it would okay for these cards to be un-nerfed, none of them would impact the wild meta at all. Maybe giggling inventor would..
I remember dusting all my copies of it back when they decided to nuke the card.
However, despite not having bought any Boomsday packs since then, I happen to own 3 regular copies and a golden one lol
If this card will be able to make it to Wild, even in one deck, I'll be glad (or maybe not? Man the PTSD is quite strong here) to hear that entrance again
Maybe Giggling can see play in Evolve Shaman.
I would really like to see some more buffs this year. Some archetypes are close to viable, but not quite there yet.
I'd also like to see more buffs. Despite some tragic results (Luna's Pocket Galaxy broke the game, Extra Arms reverted just before wreaking havoc and Crystology still making no sense till this day), I think it is a good idea to provide a slightly different meta and at the same time improve your own collection without the need of spending anything. That's a good feeling.
Do you have any idea about which cards/archetypes you'd like to see buffed?
