Image Rogue getting this for more value xd
I wonder if there will be more Mage Secrets revealed as well.
Apexis Smuggler doesn't need to be great to see play. It's got vanilla stats, curves right into the mage secrets, and supports Mana Giant. One or two good secrets and/or one or two more pay-offs for playing cards that didn't start in your deck could make this a useful tool in Mage.
Probably good in wild secret mage, but unless we see some powerful secret this expansion, this is just not going to happen.
Allows you to discover a spell. Quite powerful, but that means you've got to play this on curve, hope it doesnt die, and then play your secret, which youve got to first draw as well. Or play this on turn 5 for value. Its just not efficient. Most good cards are cards that have a good impact on the game all by themselves. Relying on another card to be good is usually not a good thing.
edit: Oh, and I ought to mention that playing this builds value, not tempo. So if you're going to go all out of your way to ensure that the effect triggers, and it doesnt support tempo, the effect has either got to be easily triggered or be massively overpowered. This is not the case with Apexis Smuggler yet
I don't think this will make it into wild secret mage, and this won't make secret mage viable in standard.
Well secret mage is already busted in wild, so this is already an powerfull card. In standard however, this might be a 3 star card at best..? Early game it will be rushed/traded down easely, but late game you might be able to discover a secret and continue rolling spells/secrets the turn you play it. Not much to say about this card, if you play a bunch of secrets or have a lot of spell generation, this MIGHT be slotted in..?
That doesn't seem to fit into your regular Tempo Secret-Mage. But maybe into a more midrangey Type?
Yeah lets print more cards that support a very funny and totally not broken archetype in wild.
My only hope is that so much support is already provided that it's pretty hard to make the deck more broken than it is already, by virtue of a deck having 30 slots...
Yeah that deck can see very little improvement. I don't think this card will make the cut in the best version. But it's another card for the archetype anyway. As @Nona says, you could probably build a good highlander secret mage with just 2 or 3 more cards.
Or... open a new variant like, Highlander secret, because there is so much different support for it. ;)
Seriously, that archetype is so boring and overplayed
I play wild control mage WITHOUT QUEST and I'm getting compliments from opponents for not using that or secret mage after I've won, instead of snarling rage from Frost Lich Jaina or Unseen Saboteur plays (you have no idea how many decks that card can derail).
There is a code of honor in Hearthstone, and there should be a list of cards and decks (and an achievement) for not playing them.
/dust every murloc too
Damnnnnnn that’s goo
