Dean Ayala just tweeted out some rather surprising but very welcome news - Demon Hunter is getting nerfed, and the balance changes are due today!
- Skull of Gul'dan, Imprisoned Antaen, Eye Beam and Aldrachi Warblades are all on the hit list
- Demon Hunter will also receive Arena adjustments
- Expect more balance changes over the next few weeks
What do you think about this announcement? Were you prepared?
Quote From Dean Ayala We're planning on making some balance changes that should go out today. Cards we're looking at are Skull of Gul'dan, Imprisoned Antaen, Eye Beam, and Aldrachi Warblades. We'll send out the final info from our official channels when it's ready.
We're also making some adjustments to Demon Hunter in Arena. We don't have enough data to make large scale micro-adjustments, but we're opting to make balance changes by hand while we wait for the normal full patch to take place.
As for Demon Hunter class balance, we'd like to keep the class-defining pieces more powerful while pulling back on the cards that make DH feel like it's good at everything.
The expectation should be that there will be a lot of balance iteration over the next few weeks. We'll be making changes a little more frequently until we feel that DH is in a fun, unique, and balanced state.
We have another patch planned for late next week that will address any further changes we want to make to Constructed, Battlegrounds, or Arena.

DH feels like playing against an Adventure boss
RIP if you crafted the legendaries lol
I crafted them instantly when I didn’t open them! No regrets either, even if they do get nerfed. I still want them.
That's why you wait at least 2 weeks 1 day before crafting when a new expansion comes out!
Priestess of Fury needs nerf too. she is so much better than Ragnaros! insane states for insane effect.
Holy f**k, in one day? Damn, I thought they'd let them loose for a week minimum. See the meta adapt to it, then nerf some of the cards, while still keeping the deck Tier 1-2. But in less than 40 hours...
I wonder if the class was so obviously, meta-dominatingly OP, even more so than Galakrond Shaman, then why did they let these cards pass the design phase. No one looks at Skull of Gul'dan and says "This is pretty strong, but still manageable. Print it!"
Thank god we got something this fast
DH has made even casual play REALLY unfun
Very happy about this, today i litterally only faced demon hunters, it was ridiculous.
At first i ranked up quickly from rank 4 to rank 1 with galak warlock, with a winning streak, basically farming them; i was pretty sure that my deck hard countered them;
after that i guess my mmr increased or people got better at using DH or just were using better list, i started losing a lot of games despite even teching a couple more cards to beat them.
The class is absurdly broken, there is no denying it, the fact that they are going to nerf it already is a proof of how insanely broken it is.
It made the first day of the rotation really a miserable experience, playing like 20 games versus only one class (and a broken one, at that) is something that should never happen, good thing they are going to nerf demon hunter right away (it raises some questions about why they release it in this state in the first place tho)
Totally.
It's the second time now that they release stuff that is obviously utterly broken.
Do they even test cards?
I'm not sure whether I prefer to think that they knew or not...
Hopefully DH stays popular in Wild in its fastest iterations, we need more Aggro down there, to cripple Quest Mages (and revamp Control a little bit).
This is surprisingly predictable...!
How about something obvious while we are at it. Shouldn't Outcast only apply to cards on the far left? I mean a card you just got can't very well be an Outcast yet, no?
Only those 4 cards will be nerfed?
I feel like there are a lot more broken cards, think they should hit the early game more.
My suggested nerfs:
the 4 mentioned:
Eye Beam: 1 mana when outcasted.
Imprisoned Antaen - 6/6 deal 6 when awakened. (10 is a lot also his stats are too much attack..)
Skull of Gul'dan - reduces cost by 1.
Aldrachi Warblades - 2/2 (-1 durability)
Other cards that I think deserve the nerf :
Altruis the Outcast - costs 4, does too much for how cheap he is.
Umberwing - summons 1 1/1, already does enough with the weapon.. no need to add so much tempo..
Battlefiend - 2/1 or costs 2 mana. seriously this thing is broke who thought it was a good idea?
Twin Slice and Second Slice - cost 1 mana each. (I think this card is the most problematic in the class.. a twin spell that costs.. 0 sure..)
Priestess of Fury - 6/6, so Siamat can kill her.
^^^This. For a basic card, this is way too broken in it's current form. We've already seen how problematic lifesteal weapons can be in Leeching Poison and Kingsbane. My guess is this card is nerfed more than once before they get it in a place that doesn't create too many issues. Honestly bumping it to 4 mana and making it a 2/2 would probably be best for the long term health of the game.
I agree with that Twin Slice is a bit of a problem. But I expect this to be one of many nerfs to be decided later, if we were to take galakrond shaman as a case example.
Still, let's hope this does not end dhunters as a class prematurely. I wanna have fun with the class too, just not at the present OP levels.
My guess;
Skull of Gul'dan - Outcast to lower cost by 2 or 1. Either that, or the cost to be increased to 6
Imprisoned Antaen - cost 1 more, or deal only 5 damage on wake. 10/6 stats to be toned to 8/5.
Eye Beam - deal 2 damage or cost 1 with outcast
Aldrachi Warblades - cost 4, or is 2/2 now
I know we have had our differences, but I don't want to see dhunters get nerfed to the ground. Just toned down so the class actually has a semblance of a weakness.
But team5 has got to stop printing cards for week 1 nerfs. Glad they are addressing it, but this should have been theoretically dealt with before its even shown to us.
+1
I always wonder why some obviously overtuned cards get passed the drafting stage and are let into the game before the devs finally give them their proper adjustment.
I mean those cards were obviiously broken.. same with galakround shaman.. and warrior..
Already milked it to legend! Glad to see the nerfs just in time :)
Well... THAT escalated quickly!
