Hey everyone,

Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be keeping an eye on the power level of Demon Hunter. Our goal is to make changes when necessary in order to get Demon Hunter to where we believe it should be. Today, we’ll be applying the following balance updates to a few Demon Hunter cards in a server-side patch (meaning you won’t have to download anything):

  • Skull of Gul’dan – Mana cost increased from 5 to 6.
  • Imprisoned Antaen – Mana cost increased from 5 to 6.
  • Eye Beam – Outcast Mana cost increased from 0 to 1.
  • Aldrachi Warblades – Durability decreased from 3 to 2.

We wanted to get these changes out the door today, and in doing so you will only see the new stats for these cards—displayed in both red and green—in matches, not in your Collection. The red and green numbers will return to white and the cards will be updated in your Collection with a data-only patch that we’re expecting to deploy before the end of the day tomorrow.

For Arena, we’re making changes today that will see Demon Hunter class card offering rates decreased until we’re able to properly address the class with more accurate micro-adjustments in a future patch. The following cards have had their offering rates reduced in Arena:

  • Chaos Nova
  • Coilfang Warlord
  • Command the Illidari
  • Flamereaper
  • Furious Felfin
  • Glaivebound Adept
  • Illidari Felblade
  • Immolation Aura
  • Metamorphosis
  • Netherwalker
  • Nethrandamus
  • Priestess of Fury
  • Skull of Gul’dan
  • Twin Slice
  • Umberwing

Maybe try to use brains and counter it before whining. Trust me, it's more effective.

    Finnaly someone with brains
yeah i am also not a fan of DH but i am even more not a fan of is a nerf after just a expansion is out
I thinkt they do it to fast and if they waited the counter would be there
its a new class ofcourse most people play it

Usually I feel the same way, but way too often I've been highrolled by an early Antean followed by the shivara, or vice versa. The only "counter" to that is either play a high pressure deck, or throw your resources away to usually just die on the board so that your hero doesn't die.

That really wasn't a great counter during the midrange turns of the game. Making it slightly slower/more awkward to slam down with little consideration should give more opportunities for real counter play.

it was 1 day ofcourse there was not yet a good counter
that take some time and especialy now because its a new class so a lot of people wanna try that as much as possible
i am sure if they waited 2 weeks at least there would be more counters to it and if not you can always nerf then but doing it 1 day after a release thats just proof how bad the testing team is of hs

  • I totally agree. I think Blizz could have waited a couple weeks to see if the community can come up with proper counters OR if the new-class hype diminishes. Instead they emergency-rushed out with a hotfix after a day. IMO not the best solution.

  • You can dust your cards now, if you guys haven't already done so.

Its such a shame, cause the golden Imprisoned Antaen is pretty sick.

  • Welp, there goes my Oddly Inspiring Demon Hunter. Might be able to find a replacement for the Demon, but Skull is a big hit.

Funny enough, the nerf to Eye Beam actually helps with the Baku bug.

    • You don't have to figure out how to fix Baku if you just nerf the card that causes the issue :D

But yeah I'm not convinced that these nerfs are enough. I hope everyone has kept their extra copies of DH Outland cards, we might get a big pay day in the coming weeks.

  • I agree with all of these. They will probably prove not to be enough, but since they are probably going to nerf DH cards often in the following weeks, it's better to roll the nerfs at a steady pace rather than doing any dramatic changes at early stages of the expansion.

  • The nerfs are not nearly enough. Skull is still "Draw 3, gain 3 mana", Antean is still broken, even if it comes out a turn later. Mistress and Battlefiend weren't even touched. THey'll need to do more about this going forward.

  • So, yeah.. it is still pretty good.. I've swapped to a singleton control warrior to try and fight it.

  • oh cmoooon. They just destroyed demon hunter completely

  • Additional nerfs needed after another week or two:

Skull of Gul'dan: 3-mana discount per card reduced to 2-mana.

Imprisoned Antaen: Battlecry damage reduced from 10 to 8 (it doesn't have to match its attack! Just ask Stormpike Commando!)

Priestess of Fury: Reduce health from 7 to 5.

Twin Slice: Change cost to 1-mana and KEEP second slice at 0-mana. It's not a Twinspell. They can do that. It would solve a lot of problems with cards they want to leave OP like Kayn Sunfury.

  • So no dust then?

We'll get full dust refund option when the client patch goes live - this is server side only as a quick fix temporary measure.

      • You can DE it for full dust already

  • I'm so sad about Aldrachi Warblades.

    • nerfing it might kill the whole class. when the op thing is DH removing stuff with their face and keeping the tempo up it needs to heal back and this will hinder the class more than all the other nerfs

  • I feel like people will stay play Skull of Gul'dan. Even at 6 mana, it still seems super good.
