Big Archivist Shaman is insane fun and effective as well
Hey everyone, I'm a diamond wild player playing exclusively Big Shaman... with a personal twist- Including two copies of Grand Archivist is a seemingly questionable move but so far it has been very powerful.
The reasoning is (and why my spells differ so greatly from other BS's) is that the only bad picks from the deck are casting Ancestral on an opponent's minion or an early Healing Rain. Lightning Storm can be a welcome pirate clear although the overload can be bad. Hagatha's, while ineffective, is still fine because it thins it out of the deck being that it is a bad top deck.
It has only happened once out of maybe 30 games that they have caused me to go into fatigue, but if you are facing a lot of control include only one of them. Big Shaman tends to stomp out far before it happens and a Eureka or Ancestral call being drawn is back-breaking.
It boggles my mind why I rarely run into another Big Shaman on the ladder! This deck is insanely enjoyable. Well worth your dust; the win percent is around 65%.

The reason why you don't see more of it is because it's basically big priest 2.0. Extremely one-dimensional, unfun to play against and very draw reliant.
The reason why big priest players haven't switched to shaman yet is because they either stopped playing due to the deck being near-useless at this point (and rightfully so), or because they're extremely slow on the uptake and haven't gotten wind of this new deck yet.
Say what you like, but the deck has its weaknesses. Mage and Druid mostly. Aggro is a delicious match-up because they really think they can win then, haha, i heal up and now's there a giant minion on board you can't take care of.

This seems so much worse than priest, yes you got more ways to cheat stuff, but you got worse survival tools and inconsistent minion cheating, there's also hagatha's scheme as a bad result, dunno I can see it working but it seems more fun.
Hi OP,
I think it is very nice of you to share the deck you find fun to play and try to show everyone why you think so. I mean, it looks like you just want people to have fun - I like your attitude :)
I may give your deck a go - I opened Colossus of the Moon a year ago and haven't played it anywhere yet. I am not sure about about the Archvists though. Maybe just one copy.
It's surprisingly good actually. ViciousSyndicate put it at tier 1 and Wild side also rated it in high tier 2 if I remember correctly.
It's just inconsistent, like priest always was, because you need to get those early cheat cards.
Big Priest 2.0 :')
With the difference that Big Priest can do sth. Shaman isn't good at: "Rise again, my heroes!" *multiple Rags and statues comes out of the ashes.
You really don’t need to because the frequency of your threats are often more than enough to get the job done. Trust me, when I first saw BS, I joined on because it looked fun but it carried me to diamond in a few days (admittedly the win rate has slowed down now, but I’m certain I can get 5 and with enough luck Legend by the end of the month.
the main attraction is that it is very fun. It’s a high tier 2 or low tier 1 imo.

Except shaman can do basically the same thanks to Vivid Spores and Ancestral Spirit
Well, if you give him enough time to do that, than yes. I think it is more like Cubelock. It doesn't even have those N'Zoth and Bloodreaver's big comebacks, so if you consider Cubelock fair, then Big Shaman is fair too.
Barnes < Ancestor's Call
Shadow Essence < Muckmorpher
Shaman kicks in 1 turn earlier than each Big Priest summoner, which is why BS is substantially more successful than BP.
Add to this a heavily board-based Aggro population, with nobody bothering with Maiev Shadowsong (I'm seriously baffled at this tbh), and you get a pretty successful deck.
I don't think it is actually t1, especially after the meta adjusts against it (BS is barely more than Off-meta atm, and up to few days ago everyone was focused against Odd DH and PW), but it is a viable deck.
And the new Lightning Bloom threatens to throw everything way over the top.
It's since pre-nerfed Barnes that I keep saying that no Summon from hand should ever cost less than (5) and no Summon from deck should ever cost less than (7) or even (8)...
Honestly I think you guys are judging the deck without actually trying it for a good ten games. I have literally not ran into one rez priest on ladder. I played quite a bit of it in the past but it was always kind of a guilty pleasure. Big Sham differs because it really takes some skill to navigate. RP was pretty autopilot. BS really takes some actual piloting.
Discolock has given me some problems but Mech Pal and Pirate Warrior are actually easy wins most of the time.
You basically are skipping a few turns for a ridiculous discount into the late game, hopefully midgame. It is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy more consistent than these comments have been noting it for. It works! Try it, you won't be dissapointed.
(I think this thread was created because I really really want to have more mirror matches with it, they are very interesting)

Because if big priest isn't given time they still pull big minions out of their behind? Both decks cheat out their minions around turns 4-6 and then resurrect them over and over. Either by having them die first and then using resurrect spells, or having them resurrect themselves as soon as they die.
And the rest of the deck is just filled with all the best removal and healing cards.
The decks play the exact same, are both equally """""fun""""" to play against and both don't require much thought at all. Stall with removal, cheat out big card, abuse mechanics to have big card win you the game.
Too bad, OP.
Just got D5 : D
Also, 23 wins from my golden portrait

Diamond 1 o.O I'm almost there!
Yes, same deck that I listed above. At one point I was certain of taking out an archivist but I haven't yet.
