Yet another string of nerfs but its easy enough to see why it needs to be done. The new cards are simply not creating decks that are better than the ones before them. The situation is not quite as bad as lost city, because to be worse than that expansion would require a total recall of product, but youd be struggling to play the new cards and justifying them over the old ones.
And this is really the new reality for hearthstone, Im quite convinced. They are consistently printing cards that are 'fair', doing mass nerfing after, and we really should be asking to what end is all this for? Is it so they dont need to address wild all that much? I mean, just look at cards like ancient of yore, rc rampage, and ultralisk cavern. These are not cards that are problematic in that they create one sided games, but because their continued presence are suppressing the new cards they got the nerf hammer. Wouldnt it be easier just to print better new cards instead?
The ironic thing is that ever since this new direction has been established, I have been buying fewer new expansion packs, partially because alot of the cards (epics especially) arent particularly good so 50 packs more or less gets me the vast majority of what I need, but also partially because all these nerfs tend to give me back at least 5k dust each time so I was never left without resources. My dust collection has only ever been climbing upwards, and this is despite me crafting a minimum of at least 3-5 legendaries every expansion.
Here's hoping that rotation next year, where whizbang, perils and great beyond would be shifted back to wild, that we actually get to see the fruits of what they have been planning, not that Im even the slightest optimistic about it. Chances are good they just nerf a bunch of stuff again and we're back here talking about how powerful the previous set of expansions were in retrospect.
Yeah I'm not going to call it anything but the Gabecube. If I get one, I might have to design and custom print a vinyl sticker for it with the various Gabe memes collaged all over.
I love my Steam Deck. I don't get a ton of time to play with it, but I have always wanted them to put their trackpads onto a standalone controller and its finally happening.
But, the Steam Machine... it's about damn time it makes a return! SteamOS has gone so hard and with the place where computer hardware is at right now, it makes so much sense to have a new machine for the living room. Low power usage with high performance, god, computer hardware has been getting exciting again these past few years and I'm so curious where it's going to go.
Looking at the Steam Frame, the Snapdragon processor on it gives it the ultra-low energy usage that is required for a headset, at the cost of not everything being able to natively run on it since its ARM and not X86-64. Effectively a mobile SOC that you've find in an Android phone, and on some recent Windows Laptops, it would be interesting to see this help push gaming even more towards ARM. I've been using an ARM-based M2 Mac for the past couple of years and I'm so thrilled by its gaming performance while being super quiet and not heating up my room like a space heater. It would be amazing if we could get more desktop-grade things on ARM, and SteamOS is going to help us get there.
I thought 2025 was feeling like Year of Linux Desktop, but 2026 is going to be even more exciting with these new hardware announcements. Before my desktop died due to a CPU failure, I had moved over to Fedora with KDE Plasma and I had Steam with Proton and it was a wonderful experience playing games on Linux, away from the hell that is Windows and in an ecosystem that supports more games unlike MacOS. Windows is still king for anti-cheat though, which I hope devs can figure out a good solution for anti-cheat on SteamOS at least because I'd love to be able to daily drive Linux for gaming at the very least. I've been so proud of what Valve has been doing for gaming on linux.
I have been playing No Man's Sky and enjoying it quite a bit. The Corvette update was a great addition that "relaunched" the game to a lot of new players and I hope they keep expanding it. They have been for almost 10 years, for free, and made the game quite a bit better. So if you like space exploration and ship building, give it a try :)
I've been quite busy with the website and life so not a whole lot of gaming has been taking place so far this month, but, I did play the demo for Saelig and was quite impressed.
It's an RPG that has simulation and business management elements. I made my first character a super thief by taking anything that would give me a boost to thieving. It took a moment to figure out how I could actually put my skills to the test, but when I did, wow. It was a good idea to start in a larger town!
I kept getting caught stealing though since my stealth wasn't too good... but I was having such success that I was able to pay the fines off without an issue... until it became one. I was caught being bad, and I got exiled from the town. So with not much time left in the demo, I decided to hell with everyone in this town, this is my town. I started burning down all the buildings and most importantly, the other farm plots so that my workers on the farm wouldn't have any competition anymore. As I was doing this, barbarians attacked the town so everyone was occupied with them or running away from them so the fires burned half the town to the ground.
Then I got caught afterward. I didn't have the money to pay the fine so I got sent to the pit. Well, I don't know how long my sentence was for, but my demo ended about 20 minutes later and I just laughed at the insane situation I put myself in and how silly the pit was. I tried to use the unstuck tool in the pit and it teleported me to the top of the pit but I still was unable to move... as expected since I had been jailed. Winter came and that was that for my demo time.
It is definitely worth the purchase, it's $17.49 CAD and I can see having more fun with it.
I also played a couple rounds of Balatro while eating lunch yesterday and finally did the Speedrun achievement which just involves skipping most of the rounds. I got very lucky.
I seriously can't wait to get my hands on this, even if it ends up just being a reskinned version of Vampire Survivors and quite literally since it's the same engine. The art just looks so good, but that's not surprising since Boltgun's art is incredible.
The one thing I wonder is if this means we're going to have to wait a long time for a new Animal Crossing game. I think some of these additions are cool and add value to the game, but I also think the island concept is a bit much at this point.
What I'd like to see out of a new game? A return to a chunk of land with borders; I would love to be connected to a friend or friends by a land barrier so if we're both online we can freely visit each other and our animals could even cross over between the towns. Speaking of villagers, we need them to return to, at a minimum, New Leaf levels of interesting. The villagers were so blegh, for lack of a better term, in New Horizons. The technology is here, Nintendo, you have the power, make them all more engaging and find more fun things to do with them.
A Switch 2 Animal Crossing game definitely would sell consoles. Just as a Switch 2 only Zelda or Metroid would. I know we're not too far off every game releasing only being for Switch 2, anything that has dual released at this point is just games that were being worked on when Switch 2 was still far away. It's a shame that Legends ZA is a dual-release because you know they could have gone a bit more wild with it if they didn't need the two games to work together. I hope the next mainline Pokemon game is fully focused on the full power of the Switch 2 - though it's Pokemon so it probably won't be lmao.
And now we've derailed into Pokemon so that's enough for this comment.
Actually now that I think about it, it would undoubtedly be cheaper to buy the game and then buy the upgrade after that if they both counted as one product.
I was thinking of finally buying Fallout 4 since it's still on sale at Steam and now I see this and now I think I should wait.
Then again, if it's anything like Skyrim, the OG version and the Anniversary Edition will both be buyable as separate products that count as two games for achievement purposes, so maybe I should get both, hahaha.
I did actually, but not directly. I reference that chronogor can draw you two cards while dealing 6 damage to the opponents face, which obviously would come from the shreds. My main concern is that to do this you would essentially have to drop cursed catacombs from your deck, and if you have no shreds then this card is working against you.
After some additional thoughts, maybe Im underestimating the shreds of time cards because you can go tachyon barrage into devious coyote immediately on turn 2 which can be backbreaking as an aggro deck. But we'll see if shuffling all these stuff in will be worth it

If I had a nickel for every time a game from an Xbox-exclusive franchise that stood out as a flagship series on the original Xbox announced in 2025 that it would finally see its first release on a PlayStation console, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
