  • Things To Play Till LOR Gets Interesting Again

The reason the min sets haven’t worked that well so far is that they haven’t designed the expansions around mini sets, they designed all the cards and than changed how release schedule would work, which meant some archetypes were designed in a way that leave them feeling broken until all the cards come out. However it is likely that the next expansions will be designed around it and will be much smoother

  • A Brand New Meta Shaman Deck in Hearthstone's Classic Mode? Yup, That's a Thing!

I think I remember playing that in Classic.

Bland as she is, Sivir is better champion than Taliyah at moment.

  • 7 Strongest Forged in the Barrens Wild Decks to Climb on Ladder

Sure thing, here is what I used:

You can replace loatheb w/ another Fogsail - but spell disruption seems so important in meta atm. All the card draw is baked into the weapons, so in Aggro-based mirrors keeping the (4) cost weapon is typically a strong consideration. Early on I was tossing the weapon and running out of steam.

Symptomatic of LOR's mini set release schedule, is a general lack of long term viability.

For example Shurima needs something like two more mini sets before its actually interesting beyond the archetypes that are quite well known at this point. (Renekton overwhelm, Nassus slay, Azir swarm, landmark Thalyiah)

Nobody really cares about Sivir with her feeling a bit like a worse Zoe, it doesn't help that reputation in Shurima isn't a thing yet.

Soooo to pass the time I've been playing genshin impact. It's pretty fun but it's designed to absolutely destroy your wallet on a massive scale...don't say I didn't warn you

  • PCGamer: "LoR has quietly become the best multiplayer card game"

I've played something like 4-5 ccg's. LOR's biggest strength right now is:

A (it borrows ideas from everyone) things like Gwents turn passing mechanics, hearthstone mana, mtgs card design and League's champion design.

B (longterm balance) every set and region will essentially remain in a tug of war from now till the end of time

C (100% ftp) maybe you slap down a 20 for a board or a battle pass but thats totally optional paying beyond that makes 0 sense when all you need to do is open the game once a week for 2 free Champs.

Its greatest weakness however is that the amount of excitement that comes from a new set being released isn't at the heights of mtg with things like Kaladesh, Domibaria, War of the Spark. I'm not sure how LOR can fix that but I'd it does it will probably be the best CCG.

  • [Game] Card Treasure Hunt (The Resurrection Attempt)

    Yes it is.

The first line is about pirates, and the last is about the card that feed on them. Second line was to indicate that the card was in Un'goro, and the third line was useless.

Maybe I will try to do something a bit harder next time.

  • A Brand New Meta Shaman Deck in Hearthstone's Classic Mode? Yup, That's a Thing!

If you play a lot of Shaman in Classic, you're going to realize that Lava Burst & Al'Akir don't fit in the same deck because playing Lava Burst makes Al'Akir unplayable next turn, and Al'Akir combo being a huge swing in tempo toward your opponent.

Thus why Windfury works better. Especially with a 6 drop your opponent doesn't want to clear. And Leeroy combo leaves no  mana left for Lava Burst, thus why a sturdy body makes for a more reliable combo.

How is this post-worthy? It's just a random opinion piece. If someone like Kibler or another person who had weight their words said this, I would be shocked.

TLDR: OldManSanns plays taunt, me still go face ;)

  • A Brand New Meta Shaman Deck in Hearthstone's Classic Mode? Yup, That's a Thing!

I remember when playin in 2014 I thought "I mean, Al'akir may be not as good as some other cards, but Windfury+Charge combo looks good huh?", but my friends were like, bro what are you talking about, Alakir is awful.

  • PCGamer: "LoR has quietly become the best multiplayer card game"

@OldManSanns, I took my first dive into LoR before the nerfs in HS and just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to you for the super helpful 7 tips article!  I have all my regions at Lvl 4, a few at Lvl 8, and just got my first Lvl 13 weekly chest :)

Personally, I've found the gameplay refreshing and challenging as it reminds me of MtG which I haven't played for about 25 years (in terms of blocking, burst spells, etc.).  I've mainly been playing Labs as I learn all the different keywords (thx to Challenge Mode), but I've been impressed so far.  And the card artwork on mobile looks awesome so it's got that going for it too, which is nice :D

  • A Brand New Meta Shaman Deck in Hearthstone's Classic Mode? Yup, That's a Thing!

It's Classic, we can't expect "god knows how many" changes :)

I was not playing in Beta, so this slight innovation is new for me

  • [Game] Card Treasure Hunt (The Resurrection Attempt)

    Nope.

I'm also not sure if the last word 'sort' is correct. I meant 'kind' or 'species', just for clarification.

  • Women to Get More Representation in Hearthstone Events Going Forward; Kripparrian & RegisKillbin Replaced in the Crossroads Inn-vitational

It's for proliferating attitudes like these I feel ashamed for my country.

To anyone wondering, things are changing, and have a lot of supporters, but we are lagging behind for various reasons.

  • Looking for a good post-nerf deck that isn't Hunter or Paladin

i gave up libram paladin after going 0-4 with it.

pretty sure im gonna stop playing ladder until the next meta.

  • Infinite Damage OTK!

One time in a duels run I was playing mage with the 1 mana hero power. I had Coldarra Drake in my hand and got Felfire Deadeye from Unstable Portal. I could have killed my opponent on turn 6 but I didn't think about the combo and played Felfire Deadeye on turn 4. Then i felt like an idiot. Thankfully I ended up winning that game anyway.

well it took a lot of inspiration from burn deck from Gadgetzan meta

/shrug. I found it to be an interesting, well-written article that I thought worth reading and sharing with others. I am sorry if you didn't find it so too.

I also agree that it's not as news-worthy as if Kibler/Dog/Firebat/Trump/etc had said it, but if that had been the case I'd probably write up a full-on article and just not a short forum post. And while it is "a random opinion piece", it's also an unsolicited and unprompted endorsement on a pretty major gaming magazine/site which I think carries more weight than just a personal blog/Twitter/YouTube/etc. It actually came up on my Google News feed. :-)

  • A Brand New Meta Shaman Deck in Hearthstone's Classic Mode? Yup, That's a Thing!

I suppose it depends on what anyone means by "new deck" - the list is a few cards off of the old Aggro Shaman builds that were featured in ESGN Fight Night, during the Beta. Typically, in the "olden days," aggressive decks playing Argent Squire would also often play Abusive Sergeant, as the AS buff would allow the Squire to kill an enemy 2/3, while the 1/1 remained on the board. The Fight Night Shaman decks often featured Ragnaros, rather than Al'Akir, as the latter was only thought to be good enough to play in combination with Rockbiter, while Rag was just good. They also played Shattered Sun Cleric, rather than Harvest Golem, as there were often totems in play that could receive the SSC buff. Mid-rangey versions would often play Defender of Argus for the same reason.

If "a few cards different from a Beta deck" qualifies as "new," then it's a new deck, I guess . . .

Me too, i prefer the aesthetics of Hearthston

  • PCGamer: "LoR has quietly become the best multiplayer card game"

I don't think that it's fair to criticize magic for it's monetization and give HS a pass because it's in a better spot now. Like years of blizzard milking it's fanbase didn't happen.

  • Game Mode Needed: Mirror Match

    Quote From Live4vrRdieTryn

Rang in response to your concern that people will dodge matches when it isn't their deck that faces itself the solution is simple: if they do that they would automatically be matched again facing someone else's deck until they play it out and it goes back to 50-50.

I agree that this would incentize folks to not concede when they don't get their deck, though it could also turn some folks off to the mode entirely if/when they hit a string of bad coin flips and don't get to play their deck for many games in a row.  Obviously a pity timer or something could be implemented to counteract this scenario, but I'd prefer your later suggestion of having a longer queue which guarantees the ability to play your deck.

Regardless of the minutiae, I'd definitely be on board with trying out this mode as a Tavern Brawl to gauge its popularity.  They claim that their devs monitor the official Hearthstone forums for ideas, so maybe outline the mode there and see if you get some traction amongst the community!

I also went back and re-read that old list of community suggestions I linked and was surprised at how many had been implemented in some form or another (weekly quests, a new class, more deck slots, etc.).  At the bottom I mentioned that Firebat suggested a Tavern Brawl Arcade to play past brawls and I could definitely see Mirror Mode being part of that system.  Having access to all brawls may not be feasible in terms of splitting up the playerbase and having long queue times, but having a rotating set of 6 weekly or something like that seems realistic.  Or maybe 6 random ones and 3 additional that stick around all month as voted on by the players or determined by their play rate over the past X number of weeks.
