  • New Paladin Minion - Cannonmaster Smythe

Hmm secret paladin - not sure about the secret pool that will be available, though Avenge is solid. Again will rise and fall depending on support, but overall the concept is solid, and the fact that the secrets return when the soldiers die is quire powerful.

  • New Mage Minion - Reckless Apprentice

A 3/5 arcane explosion is already solid - with the new focus on hero power this has a lot of potential.

  • New Neutral Minion - Primordial Protector

It's spiteful with the draw, but it comes much later - not too sure about this one, as the swing say from summoning a 10 drop is much less by turn 8. But as a neutral will probably see quite a lot of experimentation. Druid perhaps could use this well and ramp to it?

  • New Demon Hunter Minion - Kurtrus Ashfallen

I think this will see very little play not because it is weak but because it is not hitting face. DH thus far still lacks any reason to go a different route outside of aggression and weapon damage.

  • New Mage Minion - Mordresh Fire Eye

I really hope this works - fiddling around with hero power mage since janalai makes me wonder if this is finally a big enough playoff to make this archetype shine. Seems to be decent support in the other card that hero powers all enemies: with more this could be a monster

  • New Demon Hunter Minion - Razorfen Beastmaster

4 drop deathrattle coming to a demon hunter near you

  • New Mage Minion - Mordresh Fire Eye

I mean it costs 10 and its a massive board wipe. It will likely have its condition met, especially if you use the apprentice that was released along side it. Once again they seem to be pushing control though and once again it will depend on the defensive options available since there are way too many sources of direct damage from hand available right now. Especially in Rogue and DH.

  • New Demon Hunter Minion - Razorfen Beastmaster

Nothing about this being Demon Hunter makes sense. So far the only card it will summon is Renowned Performer and some neutrals that I don't think I've ever seen Demon Hunter run.

  • New Neutral Minion - Kazakus, Golem Shaper

Extremely flexible neutral - a lot of decks could probably sacrifice their 4 drops to make this work. Difficult to evaluate without its full range - but my guess is its flexibility will make it played extensively

  • New Demon Hunter Minion - Razorfen Beastmaster

Wait this isn't a hunter card? Seems bizarre to have in DH - can be potentially strong with the right set of cards provided, so holding out for some decent support.

  • [Game] Card Treasure Hunt (The Resurrection Attempt)

  • New Demon Hunter Minion - Kurtrus Ashfallen

Seems intrinsically strong, though does depend if midrange DH sees play - a multishot strapped onto a 3/4 seems a solid addition.

  • Blizzard Reveals Two New Forged in the Barrens Demon Hunter Cards - Legendary Kurtrus Ashfallen & Razorfen Beastmaster

So this tells me that DH is either going to get some board positioning effects or they are going to start going into a deathrattle direction. Although I don’t really see the connection between deathrattles and Demon Hunters, I’m always open to more ways for both players to be able to pseudo play around things especially in the way DH will be using both outcast on the board and in their hand

  • New Demon Hunter Minion - Kurtrus Ashfallen

I'm going to call this decent. Can remove 2 minions for you, but almost certainly won't survive doing so unless you can outcast it.

  • Forged in the Barrens

Hell Yeah, its Christmas all over again!

  • New Demon Hunter Minion - Razorfen Beastmaster

Really hard to evaluate card like this, in a vaccuum, without seeing the real pool of Deathrattle for the next meta.
So far, very little value or use for DH of such a card, but let's keep an open mind, time will tell ..!

.. and its not to be excluded that someone at Blizz just fcked up ^^

  • New Neutral Minion - Primordial Protector

Its basically trying to ape Spiteful Summoner, but with an added twist that it will draw that spell out for you.

The problem is that it costs 1 more (2, if we're comparing with spiteful pre-nerf) and that it draws that spell, which means you cant just jam two 10 cost spell in there and hope to hit it with this one twice consistently. Of course, you can always opt to play this along with the usual barrage of spells, but that would also more or less make it mandatory with broom or you just lose initiative.

Maybe in druid, nothing more. Even then, I have to question whether there are simply just better cards you could be playing like Guardian Animals for example.

  • New Demon Hunter Minion - Kurtrus Ashfallen

I like how impactful the battlecry is.
A+ for creativity so far with out of bound effects

  • New Mage Minion - Reckless Apprentice

This may mean that Mordresh Fire Eye doesn't have to be so freaking slow - I'm excited for that Hero Power Mage :D

  • New Neutral Minion - Kazakus, Golem Shaper

I think the deckbuilding is a lot more restricting with this iteration, but the payoff for golems might be better, I'll wait and see what the effects are.

  • New Neutral Minion - Primordial Protector

I mean maybe the ramp/nozdormu paladin, with elemental synergy.

  • New Paladin Minion - Cannonmaster Smythe

I'm glad they didn't bring back Mysterious Challenger for core set now.

  • New Mage Minion - Mordresh Fire Eye

That was my thought also ; fun and interesting to at least give it a shot, but a tad slow. I mean, Jan'alai wasn't a quick early set-up either, and this one is even larger, with an interesting twist tho

Edit: I also just noticed Reckless Apprentice, which seems to indicate that Hero Power mage is on the menu!!

  • Runeterra Patch 2.4.0 Brings Quality of Life Improvements But No Balance Changes

For what it’s worth, I’ve played 6 ladder games since my last post: I saw 3 different Kindred decks, 2 different Azir, and one good old-fashioned Miss Fortune-Gangplank. That’s definitely not my usual experience, of course.

I think that LoR’s meta is a lot more varied than Hearthstone’s or (from what I hear) Magic’s, and it is also a lot more feasible to climb with off-meta decks in the game. I also don’t want crazy power-creep, so I’m fine if the expansions that come every two months only change things somewhat.

That said, I’m also worried about how long we’ve started going without nerfs that are obviously needed, and this game can be so time-intensive that breaks can be a good idea. I stopped playing for most of the second Targon expansion. The only thing I really disagreed with you onwas whether the new expansion is noticeable, but I don’t want to make a big deal out of that.

Good luck, whether you end up taking a break or not. My break was definitely healthy for me, and I’m playing the game more than ever since I returned.

  • Day 1 Recap of Forged in the Barrens Card Reveals - All 7 New Cards!

The Razorfan Beastmaster still feels like a class mistake, but I can see all of these cards seeing competitive play! Powerful little group of cards.
