  • New Shaman Minion - Bru'kan

Really cool card, it should make those lightning spells a real threat to be feared of.

  • New Neutral Minion - Razormane Raider

Pack filler. Might resemble Imprisoned Felmaw a bit, but it comes really late, and in reality you're just hoping for it to get an unreliable Windfury. Bad.

Nice card, but I don't think it will see play since it doesn't support any archetype.

It supports any archetype that draws a lot and is even better if you are able to fish specifically for spells.

  • New Neutral Minion - Mankrik

Not sure if I would craft it, but it would feel like an ok pull from packs. I like unique designs like this.

  • New Neutral Minion - Shadow Hunter Vol'jin

Cool effect in principle, I like its versatility. But in the end will probably have only one purpose, cheat mana in some combo decks.

The art is so uninspiring though, especially compared to old Vol'jin :(

    Quote From greenfrog100

This card is too slow for zoolock and a control deck would not care too much about the imps that it gives in my opinion. If a control deck wanted to play a card that flooded the board with bodies, Carnival Clown is probably the better option as it also gives a bunch of taunt minions.

Good thing there's room for an archetype in the middle range between those two. We just have to think of a good name for it ...

But Imp Swarm is not just about the imps. I'm pretty sure the most important word on the card is Fel.

  • New Neutral Minion - Spirit Healer

Doesn't seem too good for now. Its effect is most useful early in the game, in midrangey decks. Even then, it's underwhelming. Body of 3/6 on 4 is bad.

    Not sold.

There, there. I'm sure you'll feel better after rotation. It's not so far away!

I'm not new to broadside decks myself, I even crafted double golden

back in Rumble to show my devotion to it (I mean look at it, it's easily one of the best animations in the game), but I've only just got around to the full Patches variant. It always seemed like the purest way to do it, though in practice it was almost certainly the least effective.

I feel you on not even winning the game. I did 33 damage with that combo and still the priest lived on 4. Thankfully Yogg was feeling merciful (for the first time all day!) and cast Swipe to save me from a rather embarrassing loss.

  • New Rogue Minion - Swashburglar

One of my favorite cards. Love the mirror buff.

  • New Warlock Spell - Imp Swarm (Rank 1)

Seems like it doesn't do much, I agree, but I have a feeling this card will be used. If your deck has enough draw power, this can be a nice curve filler mid-late game.

I did buy the skin and I'm very happy with it. The art seems to split the community, people either find it awful or great. I count myself among the latter ones, it's only the second skin I ever bought (the other one being Medivh). The voicelines are pretty cool and I have yet to lose a game with Odd Rogue since I got Gladiator Valeera.

  • What to play? Runeterra, Magic, Mythgard or another CCG

I actually play the game every now and then, but those opinions are not just mine even though I agree with them.

I read most of that article. I can see why he says some people might prefer hearthstone.

But personally, the reasons people think LoR is boring and go back to Hearthstone are the same exact reasons I'll never go back to it - it's too simple, too much RNG, and player agency has far less value in HS than it does in LoR.

The author of that article gave those as reasons that people leave LoR - well those are the exact reasons I won't leave LoR.

So, I guess we have to let each player decide for themselves whether they want:

    1. More complexity and the ability to actually play the game the whole time you're playing, or only play half the time.
    2. Have actual player agency, where all of their choices affect the outcome of the game --- or just highroll the RNG and win (or get the RNG highrolled against them and lose.)
    3. Have a meaningful collection and a broad selection of viable, competitive decks to choose from, rather than maybe 4-6 meta decks at a time that are actually competitively viable.

Incidentally, it sounds to me like the original poster of this thread is in the "LoR is better" camp, at least for now.

I already played Hearthstone for 5,5 years almost daily. Mostly only one or a few games a day but I can't say it' isn't a good game if it kept me interested for such a long time. At the moment Runeterra is much more fun but the comparison isn't completely fair because all is new and exiting in a new game while the period before the new hearthstone year is almost always the worst time to play the game.

I can see Runeterra being my number 1 game for the coming years though because all what's Runeterra is doing differently is what I dislike about Hearthstone. Mostly the RNG. I don't mind a bit of RNG. I even like generated cards (for their normal cost). But I really hate the RNG which decides the game on the spot. In Hearthstone I always liked to play the more difficult decks. I got bored quickly playing the more easy ones, so I like the complexity of Runeterra.

When I play ranked or arena i only played the game and I wasn't doing other things on the site, this also makes Runeterra a better game for my playstyle because it keeps you busy all the time.

The game economy is of course also much better in LOR but this isn't an advantage yet because I'm just starting in Runeterra and I have a very nice collection (plus gold and dust) in Hearthstone at the moment. I really wonder how much time it will take until I can play all the decks I want to play in LOR. Anyone who started later can give me an indication?

I don't know yet if the meta in LOR is better, only playing in bronze so far.

I like the game modes of LOR a lot more. They're all based on the game I like (as Arena in Hearthstone). I'm not looking forward to the new game mode in Hearthstone or Battlegrounds because these are completely different games. I hate being semi forced to play them for the weekly challenges.

What I like about Hearthstone above LOR is the 'cleaniness' of the graphics. I like the way the minions strike into each other more. LOR is beautiful but I never cared much for cosmetics (still playing with my original heroes although I got a few new ones for free). But this isn't that important for me.

For now I keep playing both. A lot of LOR and just the dailies in Hearthstone. But I'm sure I will be playing Hearthstone actively again after the new expansion comes.

  • Custom Frenzy Cards

With the Weekly Card Design Competitions still taking a hiatus, I was wondering if you guys are interested in sharing ideas of how cards with the new Frenzy keyword might look. Maybe someone can even predict a card before the reveals hit :-)

    So here's my take:

There's probably more flavor than power, but I like the idea of the new keyword being represented by a fierce bear mother protecting her young. It should also fit the focus on Beasts and midrange cards that we deduced from the Core cards, so I put it in Hunter even if Druid might have been a good place as well.

What do you think? I'm always grateful for feedback and curious about your own ideas for Frenzy.

  • New Warlock Spell - Imp Swarm (Rank 1)

Bad zoo card, you never reach turn 10 for the value.

  • New Neutral Minion - Spirit Healer

Bad epic so far. Will see if new cards change my opinion

  • New Neutral Minion - Shadow Hunter Vol'jin

Fun card in big minions deck, anti-combo tech sometimes

Aggro Rogue just has way too much burst, but it's occasionally beatable (but if it gets a good start you can do fuckall to stop it).

As someone who played mostly Token Druid last month, I can assure you that Aggro Rogue is very beatable.

However, I’m someone who’s playing mostly no Hearthstone this month, and I blame that on how boring the current builds of Token Druid are.

Oh no, I know precisel how stupid Token Druid is (and I suspect Gibberling will get the nerfhammer eventually), but I stopped trying to abuse that deck when I had a full board of 2/2s on turn 2 and a Whirlkick Rogue managed to, I shit you not,  clear all but 2 of them. At turn 3. with like one minion on the board. Mostly through randomly generated stuff.

    That deck is busted af.

Countdowns should arrive this week with reveals starting as well. I don't have any inside confirmation on that, though I guess in fairness I couldn't say if I did anyway, but it lines up with the March 23 release date to start them now.

If reveals take place this week, we get a final dump Tues or Weds next week and then a client patch that takes us into the pre-release weekend.

I'm not exactly ready to screw up the sleeping schedule, but let's get to it!

That's actually a Canada-wide thing, the skill-testing question! Quebec on the other hand, you need to do a bunch of stuff to legally run a giveaway there which includes but is certainly not limited to:

    • Telling the government about it a month in advance
    • Pay the government a fee based on the value of the giveaway
    • Provide rules in French and English

This is why they are usually excluded; I won't tell if you don't tell. If the Quebec government wants to take me to court over it, they can be my guest. The only people excluded in our site giveaways are those in China since they can't redeem codes from outside the region, not that we have very many mainland visitors.

I hate that there is technically a lot of laws that go into giveaway-related stuff. I get it, running lotteries that aren't governed just all become scams and if you look at Twitter or any other social platform, there are all these people running giveaways but never actually give out a prize or "give it out" to another account they own. Man, free followers would be nice!

I'd love to see better laws around it all. The current ones, IMO, are too restrictive so everyone just ends up operating in a dark grey area since the burden of the overhead in running proper giveaways is too much to deal with. Not that it really matters though since I don't think anyone is actually going to go after someone handing out a $20 steam card or a $50 card pack bundle, lol.

Sidenote: Back when the old site got acquired by Amazon, we weren't allowed to do any more giveaways which is why that stopped. I don't know how many people actually made that connection, but it was corporate policy at Amazon to require a lengthy process to run any kind of giveaway including legal council so it was seen as too much of a burden. The corporate world sucks the damn soul out of ya.

  • New Neutral Minion - Mankrik

Zoo deck? It needs to be drawn fast.

  • New Neutral Minion - Peon

No point playing it in constructed, good in Arena. The art and the effects are a bit strange. Peon and scrolls? Hm, don't get it.

  • Reminder: Last Chance to Buy the Gladiator Valeera Skin & 5 Rogue Packs

Whirlkick Rogue literally has no weaknesses. It never runs out of ressources, has burst, has pressure and you need be constantly on guard to deal with Edwin/Adventurer. That deck is disgustingly op.

Aggro Rogue just has way too much burst, but it's occasionally beatable (but if it gets a good start you can do fuckall to stop it).

Also, way ahead of ya, I pulled off full Cannon combo back in Rumble in Standard using Kingsbane + Dread Corsairs and smol pirates to double Cannon Barrage in one turn with Prep.

Didn't eeven win the game, but it was cool

  • New Neutral Minion - Peon

Difficult to include in a deck, random card not guaranteed. Arena card
