That's how I read it too. Definitely seems kinda weird, but that's how I understand the Core mechanic too. I hope they clarify that for us in the coming days.
I am confused? Why did you swap ramp pally, which is the best deck in the format for something as mediocre like control warlock? I am not surprised you fell down the ladder again.
You should consult vicious syndicate for the best deck in your ranking segment.
Just play the most broken deck and try to optimize your decision making. This should take you to legend in no time.
Thumbs up on most of this but...weird question. Say I'm a Wild player. They introduce the Core set, which will contain 29 new cards (all the rest are "reprints"). Then next year, when set rotation happens, the Core set gets replaced with a different Core set, likely again containing 29 new cards. Does that mean the 29 new cards from the previous year's Core set are now and forever unavailable and unplayable, even in Wild? Essentially, Wild now also has an, albeit small, rotating set? Am I understaning this right?
As mentioned by Zelgadis I hope the hall of fame classic cards will be found in classic packs after this change. If you are missing these then probably best to hold off opening them
I am missing quite a few hall of fame cards that will be in the original 240 Classic collection so I think I will hold onto my unopened packs until the new Classic mode is live
I really didn't expect an announcement this big before Blizzconline. Some thoughts:
I mean there is still plenty of stuff left of Blizzconline. We are still getting an Expansion and most likely gamemode (Not the classic mode) announcement.
Good luck! Reaching legend is definitely a matter of time played, as long as you are fairly competent with your chosen deck.
I've been playing a ton of my own build for Envoy Rustwix and love shuffling in multiple copies of random primes. Mine doesn't run either of the gods you have, but I find 1x Felosophy is enough since it requires one of only a few demons to be in hand. Maybe remove one in favor of Kanrethad Ebonlocke? An extra minion to fight aggro early with a tremendous benefit when you need the late game shenanigans. Having never played your version, I certainly could be missing the logic behind not playing him, though.
Full disclosure: I reached legend once and have never tried again. It's just not an enjoyable grind for me.
If you have a full classic collection then the packs represent nothing but dust currently. But if Blizzard added cards to classic (as they have done in the past) combined with the no dupes rule, you could have just opened all if the new cards immediately instead of having to buy packs or craft them.
It said the achievements are based on winning games, not doing weird tasks that require shitty decks, so I'd guess that if, for example, a golden card is unlocked for winning 50 games as Mage, you will also get the golden version of its replacement if you've completed the achievement.
I like that they are leaving open the option to bring back older cards but perhaps with adjustments where needed.. Sorcerer's Apprentice make a 3/3 for 3 mana for example would be a suggestion that i have.
I expect the Core set to be a bigger chunk of the meta than the current Basic + Classic sets. If that turns out to be the case, you'll need fewer expansion cards to build competitive decks.
Depends on which modes you're going to be playing. For Standard the packs will not be useful in the future, so you might as well open them now. For Wild and the new Classic format, former Classic cards like Ragnaros and Leeroy will be returning to the packs, so if you don't have those yet and you want to play modes other than Standard, you're better off waiting.

They are adding a mode where you can play with unnerfed versions of the cards of "Vanilla Hearthstone" but they ain't gonna change the artwork.
And they are moving almost all the cards from basic/classic to Wild only cards, as they are right now.
