  • Mecha'thun's Secret Passage

Hemet would accidentally kill your Secret Pass!

  • New Freljord Card - Augur of the Old Ones

Good card for finishing out games target one high health and attack unit and you got 2 threatening bodies on the board.

  • New Freljord Champion - Trundle

I like that trundle himself costs 5 instead of 8 and generates an 8 cost card instead, already thought such a card would come.

A strong body thanks to the regeneration and the overwhelm becomes the finisher.

The attack may seem meh but getting +1 or +2 attack potentially with every attack is really strong on a overwhelm unit.

Ice pillar is a good generated card the fact it returns your mana and probably gives you atleast 2 vulnerable targets before it gets destroyed, and destroying it is pretty hard thanks to the 8 hp except for Noxus with the kill any unit below 3 attack spell.

Having Trundle in play and drawing another Trundle is also good to proc your other behold cards in case you already playing Ice pillar.

    - Edit

apparently behold also works if an 8+ is in play.

  • Handlock with Archwitch Willow!

why keep Kanrethad in your mulligan? You don't want to draw him off Willow later.

Also, what about running Felosophy to copy Kanrethad Prime later on to have more lategame.

  • I think I fixed Quest Hunter

So Quest Hunter has been my favourite competitive deck during the DoD meta because of how versatile and unique it was. Thanks to Leeroy Jenkins it basically played like a combo deck, but instead of just burning through your deck like a lobotomite until you have lethal you had to use your ressources as efficiently as possible and get in chip damage until you get into a position where your opponent can't possibly win anymore.

After Leeroy got HoF'd the deck just kind of fell apart because despite having a strong payoff it now struggled to actually close out the game (and the lack of Zilliax certainly didn't help either). During AoO the deck was essentially dead. The only support it received was Zixor, Apex Predator which just wasn't a good enough replacement. So I just kind of accepted this deck was a one-expansion gimmick and moved on..

However, due to me being bored by the current trend of Hunter being either a braindead face deck or an equally brain dead amalgamation of overstatted cards (also known as Highlander Hunter) I tried to find new ways to play the class. After trying (and failing) to build some from of Deathrattle Hunter (and wasting 3600 dust on Vectus and Teron Gorefiend in the process) I eventually ended up in a situation where I realized that Nine Lives works exceptionally well with Zixor, effectively giving your 4 additional Primes over the course of the game. I then continued testing with a Quest Hunter build where I ended up cutting all the Deathrattle stuff (which was just too slow and pointless) and instead went hard on a Zixor package aiming to just simply outressource the opponent by spamming Cyborg-lizards until they are out of removals...and it worked surprisingly well.

Priest absolutely cannot deal with it (unless you let them steal Zixor or are dumb enough to play into Mindrender), Warrior's only actual out is Rattlegore (which is actually pretty effective and you can't deal with it), Demon Hunter, Hunter, Shaman and Highlander Mage all have a chance but you can most certainly push them off the board and set up lethal. Druid is...broken...but still manageable if they don't get the perfect curve (Veranus is key, but an early Lake Thresher just fucks your shit completely). Paladin can be difficult if they snowball but I have put in the tools to somewhat deal with it. Only Rogue is a truly terrible matchup based on the fact that Stealth counters Rush.

At the end of they day it's a counter deck to specific matchups, but at the very least it's fun.

Anyways, I'm genuinely proud of this build and surprised it works as well as it does:

  • Forum titles

Are we gonna get forum titles for the call of the mountain expansion?

Could be like : chanting troll (based on trundles cards)

or : mountain wanderer since the expansion is Call of the Mountain.

    Just wondering.

  • Mecha'thun's Secret Passage

the name sounds like the title of a very interesting porno

  • Neoguli's Custom Hunter Core Set Changes

I disagree with Removal being a strength in the class. Single-target removal is fine, but something like Storm Arrows feels out of place. Hunter's don't throw a barrage of arrows at people, they hunt one specific target and destroy it. Hunters hunt alone, they have one target in mind and go after that. They aren't soldiers trying to kill an army, they are hunters trying to make a good score.

I do really really really like the  Starving Buzzard change. I think it is good enough to see play, and difficult enough to trigger that it won't see play everywhere. I applaud you on that one.

Predatory Hunter is a well designed, simple card. It is half-way between Ironforge Rifleman and Razorfen Hunter, but it is better than both. I don't think it is OP, or underpowered. It isn't particularly flashy, but good.

I am not sure how I feel about Wandering Monster in the Classic set. It is a good example of what Hunter secrets do, but also the randomness of it makes it feel out of place in the Classic set. As you mentioned, it is a better protective secret than Misdirection, but also the card fits so well in Kobolds and Catacombs that I feel like it should stay there. I think Bear Trap would be a better candidate. It is a defensive secret, it references another card in the Classic set (Ironfur Grizzly), and it is simple and consistent.

I am not entirely sure how I feel about Monstrous Mark. It is a pretty cool effect, but also just feels a bit out of place with the rest of the Classic set. I like the idea of having burst damage that cares about the minions on the field, but I feel like there is a simpler way to do something like that. This effect as it is now has only been see on one card, Knuckles, and he is an expansion legendary. Being able to give this effect to any minion you want in the Classic set just feels weird. A simpler idea that kind of does the same thing might be something like "Target enemy minion attacks your opponent", or something like that.

Rat Pack is a very good card to add to the Classic set. I think Classic cards shouldn't be auto-includes in every deck, and they also shouldn't be able to make a specific deck work all of the time. Classic cards should support certain archetypes and decks, but not be enough by themselves to make those decks good. Rat Pack does this very well. It isn't great by itself, but it can be pretty good with some synergy. Whether or not it will see play depends on the support cards we get in expansions.

I don't like the inclusion of Princess Huhuran. King Krush is a very cool card that represents hunter's pretty well. If you felt he wasn't good enough then I would adjust his cost to 8 mana, or maybe make him a 9/9 or a 10/9 or something like that. But I feel like King Krush is too iconic to be replaced. Though maybe it is just me who feels like that.

All around I think you did a good job, and I really hope Blizzard does good on their Classic set changes later this year.

  • Neoguli's Custom Demon Hunter Core Set Changes

Interesting. You streamlined the class, leaving most of the small minion synergies out. While the basic set represents attack synergies and bigger demons well enough, there isn't a single outcast card among them, even though outcast is the core mechanic!

I'll now give criticism, hopefully constructive. If I do not criticize something, I think it's good.

I also have problems with Battle Felguard. It's quite similar to Leeroy Jenkins, but you also introduce buffs for demons. While big surprising swings from the hand are somewhat common in DH, Battle Felguard is a basic card. Copy it with Felosophy, and you have 12 face damage from hand, which is more than Pyroblast. And DH should be different from Hunter because it does not have buffs. What would a buff even represent lore wise? "I meddle with demonic powers better left alone, which I manipulate for revenge and my own gain, but I also support and treasure them. "  ?

Iliidari Dancer is probably spelled wrong, should be Illidari Dancer. It also has a confusing text, which you can't have in the classic set. I still don't know what it does.

Cordana Felsong is an odd one out, basically the only defensive card, while also stealing rogue's Sap. The design would be better suited for a warrior/rogue dual class card. While disruption is a theme for DH, DH has only a limited set of battlecries: gain attack, cheapen DH, draw card, conditional damage dealt. If you want to keep the sap effect, maybe make it trigger after Cordana attacked a minion.

And, lastly: you should either cut the small minions entirely, or keep all their cards. Keeping 3 in basic&classic is not useful.

  • Neoguli's Custom Demon Hunter Core Set Changes

Surely the reworked Warglaives of Azzinoth should cost more than 4 mana? At worst it is 4 mana for 5 burst damage, but it will often completely nullify your opponent's efforts to build any sort of board presence for, frankly, the rest of the game unless they run weapon removal or try to go wide (which is easy to punish because you have good AoE). Also, its rarity seems off given how iconic the weapons are and it's comparison to Gorehowl, which by the way it is just a way better version of. If you are reworking a card that much, shouldn't you just make it a completely new one?

I don't see why Cordana Felsong has a Sap effect, which has only ever existed outside rogue in Freezing Trap, which is a severely restricted version of it. There are enough complaints about DH being able to do everything without giving them a mechanic that has always been specific to a single class. It also serves as strong single target (pseudo-)removal, which is one of the few things the class doesn't have without face tanking a ton of damage.

Finally, Dark Portal is just asking for confusion with The Dark Portal and needs a name change.

  • New Freljord Spell - Troll Chant

And I didn't even thought about how strong this can be in defense. It punishes Quick attack (especially Zed), heavly punishes Double attack (Lucian, Senna, Sentinel of Light...) and Scouts (Genevieve Elmheart, Greathorn Companion...), slows down in some degrees elusive units... and it can be used anytime, because again, it's so cheap that it can cost only in spell mana.

An awesome anti-aggro tool for Freljord architypes, and I couldn't even exclude it in some aggro decks.

  • Neoguli's Custom Demon Hunter Core Set Changes

Greetings there! I'm here to present you my version of how I would change Mage's Core Sets. I'm jumping the bandwagon a bit with the changes after seeing some other people trying their reworks and generally accepting classes may need some updates.

This time, I've put crossfire onto Demon Hunter. This one is different, becuase DH doesn't have a Classic Set yet, but this will be a fun opportunity to theorycraft a potential one for the new class. Keep in mind that this change also includes an overhaul to their Hero Power, making it costing (2), but giving +1 more Attack on each version. It's more to streamline the class, to not confuse new players and to get a new perspective on the balance.

    Explanations

    Show Spoiler

Battle Felguard - an aggressive minion to complement Demon Hunter's fast and furious, slash and hack playstyle.

Aeladori Prophet - gives the class an access to manipulate their hand to benefit the most from Outcast effects.

Warglaives of Azzinoth - changed from the unbalanced state to a more soft board control tool.

Demonic Sigil - adds an evergreen Demon buff to Demon Hunter. Aside from giving a buff, it can also let the target attack twice.

Skull of Gul'dan - changed from reducing the cost of cards drawn to reducing the cost of itself.

Dark Portal - while it is card generation, it is more akin to Warlock by giving you Demons and not other cards. It's also not really a card generator, because you replace cards in your deck instead of shuffling some into it.

Illidari Dancer - the ultimate attack buffer.

Cordana Felsong - she's a warden in WoW lore, and so she provides some defensive capabilities to the class.

Well, just one card, but that is because Glaivebound Adept is already in the basic set, so it can be HoF'd.

Some cards that were considered, but didn't make the cut

    Show Spoiler

Felosophy - well, card generation, but it would've probably been a fair one.

Demon Companion - this was meant to be a Basic card due to simplicity and similarity to Animal Companion, but I forgot it was a dual class card.

Cycle of Hatred - big AoE and summons, but maybe it was a little too good.

Double Jump - was meant to give Demon Hunter an evergreen way to trigger Outcast more consistently, but tutors are dangerous in general, and Prophet probably does the job better.

Blur - wouldn't mind seeing in the set.

Ancient Void Hound - was thinking of trying to change it to be a defensive feaster, but maybe it was not worth the effort.

    Vilefiend Trainer - lacked room

Priestess of Fury - also lacked room.
