  • Has anyone made a decent Standard Tempo Priest deck?

I think it could be a decent low tier in the right metagame, but I agree that Voracious Reader, for as strong as it is in the right deck, is surprisingly weak in these Tempo Priest decks.

Ultimately, I think Priest needs more narrow, cheap cycle cards. Paladin and Hunter - two classes that have historically had limited card draw - serve as pretty good examples of this. This type of card includes Scavenger's Ingenuity, Ursatron, and Diving Gryphon in Hunter, and Hand of A'dal, Call to Adventure, and Salhet's Pride in Paladin. These cards cycle, they offer a limited benefit to account for the cost of the card outside of cycle effect, but are only really useful in specific archetypes.

Priest has historically had Purify, Dead Ringer, and pre-nerf Power Word: Shield in this category. Cleric of Scales also serves this purpose, which is why I've started experimenting with dragons. It's definitely a tricky problem for Blizzard to solve. Control Priest decks are pretty good already, and they can develop card advantage without card draw thanks to AOE cards and Galakrond. So you don't want to make generic card draw that can tip the scales for control in an unfair way, but Tempo Priest definitely needs one or two more decent, narrow draw effects to build on.

what does include the sentence "summoned but not played"?

  • New Shadow Isles Card - Doombeast

Fairly weak, BUT the Nightfall effect gives Shadow Isles another source of Nexus burn, which some decks will love.

Overall kinda so-so, but will probably see some play.

I meant "unrealistic" not as it being impossible to meet, but in the sense of being very theoretical: in Eddie's example, there was 5.5 hours between the check-in time and the actual match.

Yeah, he took a risk by ignoring the formal check-in time and instead estimating when the match would start. But if he had gotten up early and had to play hours later while not being properly rested, he might have lost the match to that instead.

Literal garbage. One of the worst 5-drops in the game.

  • How the Battlepass Issue may ruin F2P

The whole thing still has room to change from what was listed in the survey. Indeed, they wouldn't have bothered with an opinion-gathering survey if they were planning to just implement it as is. So for now I'd just wait to see what it ends up at, and consider whether I think it is problematic then.

Honestly, I'd be surprised if they could justify it to their accounting department if it gave out as much gold as the gold-grinding F2P players get each cycle. They'd likely be aiming to be closer to the average amount of gold accumulated by regular players. Of course that is bound to get the gold-grinders complaining, and justifiably so, but that doesn't have to mean it is just some dastardly plan to cripple the HS economy.

People often end up overly cynical or too willing to defend the company, without accepting there is a balance between being making the game better and appeasing the accountants in almost every decision they make, and it is never completely one-sided.

People are not machines though. Firebat played the last match on Saturday and that one went very late, so I don't blame him for ignoring what is usually an unrealistically early check-in time on Sunday.

As a person in the same time zone who watched his final match against Bloodyface (and I believe it's on a delay for viewers), he was done @ 12:30 AM. That is more than enough time to sleep a full 8 hours and check in on time. And let's be honest, many of us go to work on less sleep than that regularly.

  • Nightfall is a New Keyword Coming in Call of the Mountain - 5 New Shadow Isles Cards Revealed

    Nocturne imminent.

  • Custom classic and basic overhaul v2

Rockbiter weapon - now reads give a minion and your hero +3 attack this turn

Flametongue totem - now has 5 health

Fiery war axe - now 4 mana and now reads whenever your hero deals damage gain that much armor Should be it's own weapon and doesn't make sense for it to be changed to this when the weapon is fine. I argue putting it back at 2 mana is okay now, with as much early game aggro we have now it's literally irrelevant.

It's clear to me you're more interested in making a new expansion with cards that RESEMBLE basic cards. You change cards like fiery war axe to where they're just a flat out new weapon concept and you make razorfen hunter into something that's even better than it ever should be. I don't know why you don't just make new cards instead of trying to turn cards that are in the classic set, which are below-standard power level ON PURPOSE into these weird powercreeped versions of cards that are better in everyway and have no similarity to everything. Other than that some are outright ridiculous. 5 health flametongue? Rockbiter that's literally twice as good. If it wasn't such drawn out list that i don't want to continue reading i'd have thought it was a joke.

Don't forget that it's a progressive system, where you can only enjoy high level rewards when you nearing the end of the expansion.

For examples, you may be getting that sweet Legendary cards rewards at the end of the 4th month, and it sounds pretty awful, why? because you need all the legendary at the earliest time possible. Getting them at the end of expansions only benefit collectors, and not F2P players.

Plus, yeah, no more 80+ packs for the next expansion

As Lee suggest it was 5000 golds, I was so shocked because I alone manage to get 8900K for scholomance without even reaching the daily gold cap. Only 6 wins average per day plus daily quests.

I'm telling you, honestly I don't like this battlepass system.

One thing, you're skewing what Lee said. He said he makes 5000 gold and wouldn't expect himself to get less than that for the amount of work he puts in. This doesn't mean everyone will get 5000, nor he would get 5000 gold.

  • How the Battlepass Issue may ruin F2P

So, there is this survey that has been going around about a Battlepass that may replace gold gained from quests with an experience system. The short version of it is:

    1) no more quests/gold per 3 wins
    2) you receive experience through game modes that reward less gold and packs than you would usually grind for
    3) disables you from saving 8000+ gold for an expansion launch
    4) grant hero skin upgrades (which have little value compared to cards/gold/dust)

The worry is that this system is put in place to look like value is retained (like the AMA claimed) but the rewards themselves are worth less. If you gain less packs when the expansion launches and only earn some over the next months, these packs are worth less. Instead you are pushed to buy packs with real money to keep up with a meta.

Her eis a video by Hearthstone mathematics that goes into the issue:

As a recent reddit thread points out, these changes may be right around the corner, aimed to cripple the F2P economy:

I am seeing very little attention being paid to this issue but it would be a massive deal and change to a system that already is borderline impossible to keep up with as a F2P-player, and not a good one at that.
  • Hearthstone Grandmasters 2020 Season 2 - Week 1 Results, Decklists, Disqualifications, and More!

FWIW - Blizzard messaged all semi-finalists Saturday night, listing check-in times for participants. He had ten hours to sleep, and apparently chose to sleep one more, accepting but ignoring the pretty obvious consequences. You don't have to be a machine to simply arrange to have someone wake you up, if the matches start earlier than you'd hoped . . . there's honestly nothing "unrealistic" about any of this.

The problem with the schedule is that unlike previous years, they broadcast APAC, Europe and Americas one after another with a minimal break between, so the starting time for Americas varies a lot depending on how long the other regions took. If Bunnyhoppor had been in the Europe top 4 instead of xBlyzes, Firebat would have been on time ;)
