  • Sethekk Veilweaver is a new Priest Card Revealed for Hearthstone's Ashes of Outland Expansion

I really like this and I want this to work.

My only concern is that without any draw (at least currently) Priest will have a hard time actually getting to their good cards.

  • New Priest Minion - Sethekk Veilweaver

actually a solid card. Reminds me a lot of Lyra

Makes the "nerfed" Power :Word Shield a lot stronger.

Also it shouuld be noted that this presumably works on enemies as well as any single target removal will proc this, meaning that you average control Priest deck will run more than enough spells to activate this at least 2-3 times.

We haven'T even seen most of t he Priest set so there could be even better spells still left.

Oh boy, if this comes from a Faceless Lackey I assume it wouldn't be dormant right? because that would be OP. Or would it since its not a Battlecry?  I'm confused on this.

  • Will there be changes to Sacrificial Pact?

Do note that even if you don't run the card..Zephrys the Great will give it to you..

galakround control warlock runs 2 sacrificial pact I think with so many demons around the deck will be even more successful!

  • Now is the time to dust non-duplicate golden cards

    Pro

Yeah, with all the hype about the new rules, I initially missed two major catches:

    1) Golden copies count. I usually dust golden copies if I also get two regular copies. This won't be possible anymore until I got all the cards from that rarity and then get lucky to obtain another regular copy of a card I have a golden and a regular one of.

    2) Dusting gets dangerous. With the new rules you have to be even more careful with dusting because you can't just count on getting the card back from packs if you change your mind.

On the plus side, we seem to be safe disenchanting legendaries we don't want even before being finished opening all our packs.

Besides, 0 mana destroy a bad 12/12 Legendary isn't much better than 2 mana destroy a bad 12/12 Legendary, which is what Shadow Word: Death is going to be. If you play a stat stick, it'll get hard removed. It's just that the 0 mana one is far more specific.

Though its too early to tell, I don't think Magtheridon is as bad as you say.

It's not a stats stick. I see it more as a combo board clear with a 12/12 body.

For example, on turn 8 you could run this with Hellfire which leaves you a 12/12 body after a board wipe.

Or turn 9, this with Crazed Netherwing will leave you a 5/5 and 12/12 after a board wipe.

I agree with you that the board wipe might be more important than the body in some cases, but the combo with Crazed Netherwing will result in the same board state as the one with Hellfire: Magtheridons battlecry destroys ALL minions.

  • Magtheridon is a new Legendary Card Revealed for Hearthstone's Ashes of Outland Expansion

Q: Can you use Maiev Shadowsong to retrigger a dormant minion's effect I wonder?
    A: Yes.

Q: I wonder if the minion saves its buffs and gained effects after waking up from Maiev Shadowsong's battlecry. How does it work?
A: Yep, it awakens exactly as it was

This are questions answered by the developers. You can expect Magtheridon to return as a 12/12 or whatever its stats were before Maiev. The way his battlecry is worded sounds like he won't destroy the board when he awakens.

  • This patch makes me want to quit this game.

    Quote From TheTriferianGeneral

Whoever told you that control is bad versus aggro can't have a clue of what he is talking about since control uses the most removal to stop aggro from doing it's thing.

Apparently, the definition of what a control deck is isn't quite uniform among all CCG players. If you listen to Swim's explanation on the matter, aggro (early-game) decks indeed counter control (late-game) decks because they can usually rush the control player's nexus HP down before they can play their bigger, stronger cards.

Now, if there were widespread, cheap AoE removal tools available to the control deck's regions, I imagine that would change matters. But that's not currently the case in Runeterra, and personally, I'm kind of happy about that (disclaimer: I very rarely play aggro decks, myself).

  • The Ultimate Ashes of Outland & Year of the Phoenix Recap

the only downside to this is the fact you can't fish for golden cards anymore

before when you had the full classic collection for example and over the course of an expansion you've collected another 20-30 classic packs, you could've disenchanted a legendary that you wanted golden and then open the packs, as you were sure the legendary you open in those will be the one you disenchanted and there is a small chance for it to be golden

    this won't be possible anymore

  • Will there be changes to Sacrificial Pact?

    Quote From Echo

The last time Sac Pact saw any form of major play was when Cubelock was in its prime, as well as being a majority of the metagame. Even when it is "0 mana kill an enemy's creature, gain 5 health", it still did not win the game every time it was cast. Now looking at a meta where every other deck runs maybe 2-4 demons in it, Sac pact still would not be incredibly strong unless the demons were deck-defining cards that would win the game if left alone. It'll be a fun "haha gotcha!" moment to sac pact an opponent's demon, I'd find it hard to justify running a card just to counter a couple of cards in half of the metagame.

Another reason why I think Sac Pact is fine is due to the nature of tech cards. The only times a tech card has been nerfed was when it still is playable even when it's not against the card you are trying to tech against. The two examples of this are with Big Game Hunter and Flare, which used to cost 3 and 1 mana respectively. BGH was essentially in every deck because 9/10 decks were also running Dr. Boom, but against that 1/10 matches, it was still a 3 mana 4/2 which was still playable. As for Flare, it was a 1 mana card that said "draw a card", which I'd argue would still be strong if printed today. If we look at the other times a tech card starts seeing major play and becomes a very omnipresent card, such as Blood Knight back when Giggling Inventor was 5 mana, it is less the tech card being too strong and more the card it is meant to counter being too strong. If Sac Pact is put into every deck to counter a specific card, chances are that specific card its meant to counter is too strong and not Sac Pact being too strong.

Right, but Sac Pact was designed and balanced in a world where demons were used only by warlocks, and the few neutral demons that have seen play are not real threats. The introduction of the demon hunter class, along with the more temporary spike in demons available to other classes, completely changes the landscape for the card.

It is not specific cards being too strong and prevalent, as it was for Dr Boom and Giggling Inventor, but an entire tribe being much more common than Sac Pact was balanced for. We'll have to see how it pans out, but if people are forced to not run demons simply to avoid Sac Pact then that will be a failing of one of the major parts of the expansion, all because of outdated balance for a card.

Flavour-wise, it makes sense that Sacrificial Pact can only target friendly minions: you can't have a PACT with an ENEMY Demon.

Flavor-wise - most often you do not sacrifice your friends but captured enemies.

Most often - but we are talking of WARLOCK here, and Warlocks regularly sacrifice their own Demons (and sometimes any friends too ie Dark Pact), because they are bound with an evil PACT.

Also, CAPTURED enemies indeed: a minion on the opposite side of the board is not captured: which is why I suggested a cheap Warlock tech for stealing demons.

    Context and details are important.

Pact should indeed be finally adjusted to what should have always been. And I say this independently of the new expansion.

On the other hand, I'd be ok with a cheap Demon tech in Warlock's sleeves, eg. some steal-yo-demon card similar to Mind Control but obviously cheaper (on which you could also cast Pact).

  • Duplicate protection and the dust refunds

    Quote From Alleria

Well, there´s no official answer on this AFAIK, but people on reddit guessed it won´t be retroactive, because now when you accidentally DE a card, the support say they cant track your DE-ed cards to prove you really had the said card, so they can´t restore it for you. But it´s just a guess by now.

    Ahh that's good to hear.

Hopefully, Blizzard makes an official statement to make it certain.

  • New Neutral Minion - Magtheridon

Tinkmaster Overspark says hello. You don't even need hard removal if you can transform or bounce one of your wardens.

I think this one will see a lot of experimentation, become hard-countered, and then crawl back into oblivion.

    Sadly, there´s another catch:

Q: So hoarding packs before major nerfs will be a good dust strat if you have a good collection (Editor notes: This is a comment about the new duplicate rule).
A: There's a caveat here: once you receive a card, you'll have it marked for "collected" purposes. So if you disenchant a card you've received, it's still considered "owned." So you can't exploit the refund system that way. There's a great benefit to this though: If you don't like a particular card or class, you can disenchant them and not have to worry about getting them in future packs.

Q: And how long is the card will be marked "collected"? For example, I've opened an epic I don't want so I dust it right away. But if I already collected other epics I would like to have them all again.
A: Forever. Once you've collected a card, you've collected it.

I wonder if the "collected" tag is retroactive or will only take effect from March 26 onward.

For example, say I dusted nerfed cards from a few years ago. Are those still marked as collected?

Well, there´s no official answer on this AFAIK, but people on reddit guessed it won´t be retroactive, because now when you accidentally DE a card, the support say they cant track your DE-ed cards to prove you really had the said card, so they can´t restore it for you. • Ashes of Outland has a Legendary Quest Chain for its Launch - Earn 6 Card Packs, 3 for Outland!

It should mean every pack you open is just that much better. If you are starving for commons and rares still, like when you open your first 50 packs or so, it just means you are guaranteed something you didnt have. The dupe protection is a godsend....esp for F2P. I think you need to view your previous experience with pack opening differently since this kind of protection has never been done before in HS aside from legendaries.
