  • How to "cement HS for the next decade" speculations thread

I agree Auto-battlers and TCG are separate game genres that may appeal to separate audiences, but I don't think Blizzard will separate battlegrounds from base Hearthstone.  More likely Blizzard will try and incentivize battlegrounds players to play base Hearthstone.  Even if they only got a small portion of the auto-battler gaming community to buy base Hearthstone cards, they would be increasing their profits.  And if people who buy enough cards get all the battlegrounds perks, you may increase base Hearthstone player retention, by giving them another play mode when they want a change of pace.

    this is a wild guess

Too late....I already have it!  :) I think I'll save my $$$ for some cool cosmetics instead, as I have plenty of shards and wildcards anyway.

hm... I tried looking for direct hints but all I came up with is Frenzied Felwing. It fits the description of having hair and scales but the rest of it seems off. The crossed out "throat" might suggest that the minion we're looking for has no throat or that it's claws are reaching out for something else which rhymes with throat. "So many tales" suggests that it's an old card, basic or classic set.

I hope they will add more deckslots.

  • [Game] Card Treasure Hunt (The Resurrection Attempt)

Vicious Scalehide? Mainly guessing that because of the combo with Dire Frenzy being so key in midrange Best Hunter this past year (plus it fit the general description clues)

  • One Man's Treasure - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

Alright, I dropped my Mech idea because it was just a big minion. Here are my other 2 ideas:

Amalgamate - Pretty simple idea. This makes deckbuilding and choosing minions much more interesting. However I’m not sure this is real original.

Cursed Sarcophagus - This is a more complex idea. As your deck gets more bloated, you can use this to clear out a bunch of unwanted cards from your deck. It also works very well with card generation (since they don’t start in your deck) and against the last boss (since your deck goes away whether you win or lose)

This site is straight up awesome. Keep it coming guys.

  • [Game] Card Treasure Hunt (The Resurrection Attempt)

None of those. It's not actually a legendary or a big flashy minion. Also, no one really got the throat thing.

Cool, I was under the assumption you can refund any card if the card was not used within a week.

    From the Official site:

    Quote From Author
If you’ve made a purchase you need to reverse for any reason, unused items can be refunded* within 7 days of purchase. What’s even better is that you can refund right there in the client! Just keep in mind that some items, like the Starter Bundle, cannot be refunded. You’ll be notified before you purchase any non-refundable item.

I don't see how this would not apply in this case. I have personally refunded many unused cards in-game, instantly, and without contacting support.

"If you’ve made a purchase you need to reverse for any reason, unused items can be refunded"

Maybe I'm missing an exception to the rule.

Aaand this is why other card games don’t offer refunds ;)

Just drop some dollar and buy an epic wildcard..

I'm the only one that is sad because it wasn't revealed what E.V.I.L. stands for?

  • The Hearthstone Cards We're Going to Miss When Year of the Dragons Ends - Rastakhan's Rumble Edition

Rastakhan's Rumble is my favourite expansion to date. I will definitely keep my cards to play them again in wild one day.

  • This is such a weird rotation season.

Hunter is my favourite class, and Springpaw makes it into every deck! Two 1/1 beasts with rush. So good.

  • Hot take: I'm so bored of Standard I'd welcome Baku back with open arms for this last month.

That other format where there's a bajillion other things I'd want to try before Baku decks?

That other format where they barely regulate and attempt to balance?

Wild is fun now and then but it's not always the answer for being bored of Standard.

Also, I admit I forgot about the resurgence of Control Warrior, I guess entirely because it's still in the resurgence phase. The deck's still picking up steam and turning heads.

  • Hot take: I'm so bored of Standard I'd welcome Baku back with open arms for this last month.

I am only bored with some decks I encounter; meanwhile I am trying out meme decks on casual. But I am really tired of: lackey-rogue-tempo-remove-everything-play-Edwin/Togwaggle/Galakrond-and-win; Rogue should have a cards in hand problem but with these lackeys and cheap discover cards they have more in hand all the time than any other class; face/heropower-quest hunter: just brainless get the game over as soon as possible because; Quest Priest: remove-everything-do-nothing-resurrect-infinite-until-boredom-kills-both. Sure all three can be teched for and I enjoy beating the hell out of them when I am lucky enough to draw my antidote but otherwise...yawn. So I also would like some new decks to play against but I guess every expansion has some irritating decks to cope with :) Overall I am pretty satisfied with the state of the meta and can have fun. Except when I queue into Rogue-Rogue-Rogue-Hunter-Priest-Rogue. Then not so much.

Uhm, if you're bored of standard and yearn for some odd/even decks then have you, perhaps, tried playing that other format which has those cards?

  • Guaranteed method of specific Champion/Epic drops?

why do you think Riot would change it?

    Profit ofc.

Sure, people would be less inclined to buy wildcards, but I doubt it's much of a threat for now as they would have patched it already. When people have more complete collections this could be a problem for them though.

I just wish the card game industry would shift from the lootbox/lotto paradigm and more into the cosmetics business model much like dota 2 did. I have spent a bunch of £££ supporting Dota in this way but rarely spent money on Hearthstone for example, as I can't stand paying for something that only gives me a % chance of getting what I want.

I will definitely be supporting this game financially if they continue the way they are and don't become the next hearthstone; the fact that you can just buy specific cards is pretty amazing imo :)

  • Barrier and Surviving Damage

Yeah, I gathered that's where Forty was coming from, but thanks for the explanation nonetheless. I just don't see it as plausible that damage would exist in a sort of 'hidden' state without any damage numbers popping up.

I personally don't see a moral issue with this either and I concur, this will be patched at some point for sure

Out of curiosity, if you think there's nothing morally wrong with using the system this way (which is fair enough, I'm not going to force my opinion on anybody), why do you think Riot would change it? Because people who do it might be less inclined to buy wildcards with real money?

I like the way Blizzard is handling the game these days. Galakrond's Awakening brought us enough distraction and new cards to be occupied until the rotation hits imho. The meta is still evolving - you mentioned Dragon Hunter yourself and I've read that Control Warrior makes a comeback (who would have that one seen coming?), just to name two examples. I'm trying to grind out the last 85 hunter wins for the 1.000 wins portrait until rotation hits and throw in a game of Galakrond Warrior or Highlander Rogue from time to time. Especially the highlander decks are a good way to avoid getting bored for me, every match is different.

tl;dr: I'm not bored, I feel like the meta is still shifting and I'm impressed how well Blizzard has been handling the game for a whole year now.

  • The Full Story of Hearthstone's Year of the Dragon

Reading through this makes me sad that we never got a Rakanishu card/portrait. Definitely my favorite character (aside from Rafaam of course) from these expansions

  • The Full Story of Hearthstone's Year of the Dragon

I feel like if they end up doing another year long narrative, they’ll probably try to keep them somewhat separated from each other.

After all, so many characters here died, so if they ever wanted to use those characters again, it’d be kind of weird if everything was connected and all

  • The Hearthstone Cards We're Going to Miss When Year of the Dragons Ends - Rastakhan's Rumble Edition

The rotation does come with an expansion too. There could be the answers in the new set for Priest.

  • Hot take: I'm so bored of Standard I'd welcome Baku back with open arms for this last month.

The cynic in me thinks you're supposed to feel that way. If you're sat around for the last month of the pre-expansion period saying 'SO FREAKIN' BORED' then you're more likely to be excited when the new set rolls in and therefore more likely to spend money to be able to access the new tools quickly.

Of course, if that was done by design it'd have to be done very carefully, so people are bored enough to jump on the new stuff without being so bored that they jump ship entirely. But equally, big game companies employ a lot of people with a lot of experience in persuading people to part with their money. Hm.
