Lost to the new thief priest yesterday. It was pretty funny because I absolutely saw that something was coming but I really had no idea what it could be until it was too late. I was playing an old school thief priest and just didn't get why my supposed mirror opponent wanted to empty his deck.
Now Faceless Corruptor. Possibly more powerful than both. Why?!? Did we really need such a card? Especially token decks?
Why should boardbuilding be bound to a sick card draw RNG on such a powerhouse? Micro-management of stats is made nearly irrelevant.
(Fungalmancer delivers equal power, but with DOUBLE minion requirement, hence why it correctly escaped the nerfbat)
On a larger scale, cheap and efficient Rush is growing obnoxius. It's more efficient to hold and Rush than trying and building your own initiative.
Sure, spells in Control decks always did it. But spells neutralize the board. Increasingly efficient and widespread Rush can actually overthrow the initiative, neutralizing AND building at the same time.
I do hope the incoming nerfs will help that, but i have little faith at this point...
Welcome to Shudderwock era once again, bois. I think he's quite the sole reason Galakrond Shaman is very strong, because you can summon a lot of minions, transform them into Shudderwocks because of Faceless Corruptor, add them to your hand through Barista Lynchen and add other broken Battlecries like of Kronx Dragonhoof on top.
There are a few solutions, I guess.
Move Shudderwock to Hall of Fame. Probably the most ridiculous option, but it may be required to drastically reduce the power level of Galakrond Shaman without nerfing it to oblivion for Wild, where they can already taste infinite Shudderwocks. The only problem I see with this option is that if Galakrond Shaman proves to be way too OP in Wild, then the move will become redundant, but I guess the power level of Wild is high enough that this deck may not be the strongest and on par with other Wild Decks.
Nerf Faceless Corruptor. I would love to have the effect of this card changed to transform a minion into another 5/4 Corruptor, not into a copy, because it then works with Shudderwock, enabling the infinite chain. If that interaction is nerfed, then Shaman is in a much better spot, as they can no longer go infinite in Standard. Wouldn't also mind an increase in Cost.
Change Galakrond's Battlecry a little. Instead of summoning two Elementals which get bigger with upgrades, he could instead summon one 4/4 Elemental and increase the amount of summoned minions. This would clunk up the Shudderwock chain a bit, as you would summon less minions from your other Invoke minions played earlier in the match. It would also slightly nerf the first form and be neutral to final Galakrond. But still, this is not the priority change.
This with barista lynchen makes shudderwock pre-saronite chain gang nerf all over again...or even worse maybe with all the lackey battlecries. Have they learned nothing?? I hope the battlecry effect gets nerfed as well as the power level of this card
Yeah I agree rush isn't even shaman's theme it's warrior and hunter all the sudden shaman gets a full set of rushing elementals.. Why? It had a sub theme of spark 1/1s on booms day but that's OK I guess since it was different from the big rushes from warrior and beast rushers in hunter.
But spamming 2/1 rush guys for low cost... That's a bit too much I think.
Remove rush or make them 1/1s also consider nerfing the battlecry of galakrond cause it's too easy on shaman due to quest and having the only double invoke.
to be fair, rush is at this point just being shoved into every class that plays for tempo, since it's just a great mechanic in general (and they have to make up for all those years that minion based removal was only available through Charge, which was too OP in aggressive decks to ever be printed again)
Hey magikman, happy to see your take on Reno Mage with the DoD cards. Glad that Inkmaster Solia has been replaced by Dragoncaster - that's a lot of dust saved and it enables Luna's Pocket Galaxy to be played on turn 6 (the way it should be?).
For once, blizzard designed warrior to not be only a control class this time. Aggro galakrond works pretty well. In fact, I have not yet lost with it (over a very small sample size at ranks 11 and 12). The invoke lends itself much more to aggressive game play.
Essentially it is designed around the heavy Aggro meta going around. It goes pretty wide on clear with Warpath, Dragonmaw Scorcher,Awaken!, Twin Tyrant, and Deathwing, Mad Aspect. The primary strategy is to win either by exhaust or just take any damage you can get to face to break them down. Honestly I havent found many good Gala decks, and this is essentally a modifaction of the RegisKillbin deck because i didnt have a Dr. Boom, Mad Genius. Works very well, but can't go super late vs things like Shaman and Archivist Elysiana decks.
Honestly I have no idea what to do with Gala Warrior is it control or aggro?
Your DoD set seems pretty sick. Even if Galakrond has an even more random-chance ability than the Warlock one, it's like a hundred times more fun too. It may not be the strongest Galakrond, but it definitely seems like the most fun one to play.
Ancient Swipe seems like a strictly better Seal Fate (except for the fact that Seal Fate can target an undamaged hero), but that isn't exactly the strongest Galakrond Invoker, so the power level is fine. Blackrock Cultist also may be a worse Shield of Galakrond if you don't meet the requirement, but it is even stronger than Corrupt Elementalist when you do.
It's also a bit of a "soft rule" that Secret classes never get more than 1 Secret in a set except Classic (or Rogue in K&C), but this is a very obscure soft rule that I imagine very few people know about it, so I don't blame you. The exact same soft rule used to exist to weapons, and as of RR, they've broken that rule a few times (if you don't count the Legendary weapons from K&C as breaking the rule, which I personally do not).
New cards! I decided to go all in on the Dragon support for Descent, as well as a a lot of card generation through Invoking. I'll probably go for more classic Tactician cards (and bring back the Pandarens) for the next expansion depending on what the next expansion is, but it's been fun getting to introduce new archtypes for Tactician with Spell and Dragon Tacticians.

Ancient powers awaken! In Descent of Dragons, Tacticians gain a whole host of Dragon minions, as well as the power to invoke Galakrond, the Ancient and summon power from the past. is currently sitting at a very nice 69% winrate. I'm 24-11 with my best matchup being 3-0 against Warlock, my worst matchup is 0-2 against Paladin. Of course it includes 5-1 against Druid, 4-1 against Shaman and 4-3 against Hunter.
I think it was the addition of Zilliax instead of the Power of the Wild. Zilliax just provides the lifegain needed against Aggro decks.
The deck is fairly tricky to play well. There have been decks out there with similar styles, however they usually don’t have Zerek and do add a Galakrond package. I found this version to be more consistent.
I challenged myself to play the deck and NOT utilize the rush minions you get from the invoke... WAAAAAAAAY more manageable and not nearly as devastating.
Vanilla 2/1 would work well. Or even rush 1/2. But having the ability to knock out 2+ 2/1 board controllers at once is a but OP.
Trade your - preferably small - board for an abundance of 0 mana lackeys to discover spell or dragons, get burst damage, or just generate a bigger board.

Exactly! I build my whole deck around that strong card. Scion of Ruin drawn with Galakrond, the Unbreakable is a 3x 7/6! I even run Dragon Breeders and Tasty Flyfishs to take full advantage of it.

Quest Mage is still a bit inconsistent about survival, but it's hard to counter past turns 7-8.

No Scion of Ruin? That card is sooo good, even without the Galakrond buff. I wonder why many people don't consider it
