  • Hearthstone Heroes on Sale Until December 10

A bit off topic, but have they ever put any of the older adventures on sale? I'm not interested in buying heroes, but I'd certainly like to pick up Naxx and others at a discounted price.

  • What hero portraits do you use?

    1. Druid malfurion
    2. Mage jaina
    3. Paladin Arthas
    4. Shaman thunder king of rastakhan
    5. Priest anduin
    6. Rogue valeera
    7. Warrior garrosh
    8. Warlock mecha jarraxxus
    9. Hunter rexxar

I am not kidding you, I actually lost a game once because of a Hir'eek drop, because the opponent Bog Slosher'd  (with double battlecry) and there was no way i could have dealt with a board full of 5/5s (not to mention the followup Shudderwock)

Probably the only reason where literally any other 8-drop would have been acceptable.

I feel like the Rumble meta was a good example of op done "right". Every class had broken cards and you could pull off a variety of strategies, to the point where even meme decks could compete with meta decks, just on the basis of having some form of pwoerplay that bails them out (example: Quest Discolock did pretty well against the Tier 1 Odd Pally, purely thanks to Defile)

Right now we have the problem that every class is civil and chill while Shaman (and Priest to an extent) are just facerolling with cards that are just way above the average powerlevel.

OP is okay, as long as it's beatable, and a turn 3/4 8-drop that deals 3 damage just isn't beatable

the problem is...once you start trying to balance Wild you go down a rabbithole.

In order to truly "balance" Wild you'd first have to target all the really insane tempo plays, then axe a lot of the overly efficient removals and finally target the OTKs as well.

I don't think they could ever "balance" Wild so they only hit cards when they get completely out of hand or are introducing a broken combo (see Dreadsteed)

that being said, I could see them nerfing Mechwarper because it's just such a broken design anyways.

  • Hir'eek, the Bat

  • Mogu Fleshshaper May Be Too Powerful!

B-b-but there's a guy on Reddit (which definitely doesn't play Shaman, if you get what I mean) that said Mogu Fleshshaper is fine the way it is because there's a chance you can get Hir'eek, the Bat.

On a serious note, yeah it doesn't take a genius to understand that it's a minion that can lead to polarizing turn swings (even without Evolve, which is a problem by itself but it would be stupid to nerf it just because Standard got to play with it once again for a limited time).

What triggers me the most is that, during Rastakhan's Rumble, we were promised more balance changes if needed and now we're back to 1 every 4 months.

Oh well, guess I'll have to put up with being called a squishy mortal till the end of the year then...

  • Mogu Fleshshaper May Be Too Powerful!

I mean...fun and balance kinda go hand in hand.

A card doesn't need to win most of the time to be unbalanced. Fleshshaper isn't unbalanced because of statistics, but because it can highroll so hard that it creates automatic win situations.

  • Mogu Fleshshaper May Be Too Powerful!

    called it

    thank god they're seeing it.

Probably one of the biggest "fuck you"s in the game. If they get Fleshshaper in their opening hand then any sort of tempo advantage you might have will be ruined, and if they got Mutate or highrolled a LAckey then it's just GG anyways unless you're playing Rogue

  • What hero portraits do you use?

    Quote From Bersak

I recently realized that you can use specific portraits for different decks.

Maiev for quest Rogue, Valeera for tempo etc.

Now my deck collection feels much more like a crowded tavern!

    Whaat? Seriously?

I believe the counter doesn't go up if you concede the game. You have to win or let your opponent kill you. If they choose to BM you just have to suffer through it.

  • Mogu Fleshshaper May Be Too Powerful!

I'm running Mogu Fleshshaper in a control Shaman deck without any sort of evolving shenanigans. It still feels like a really good answer against board flood.

Regarding the nerfing policy T5 is having right now, it's a fact that SoU was a very powerful expansion overall and DoD seems to be going the same path with the cards released so far. When you add some of the most powerful cards in wild, the game feels very brutal when it comes to punishing blows.

  • Mogu Fleshshaper May Be Too Powerful!

    Exactly.

But then their design policy is flawed.

They introduce broken cards that are only kept in check by reduced pool: why not restricting cards extremes instead (ie. prevent extreme extreme powerplays based on (0)-costed cards).

    I really can't understand them...

  • Mogu Fleshshaper May Be Too Powerful!

On Wild everything is taken to an extreme because with all the cards in the pool is always easy to find a broken synergy. On Standard that is far more difficult to achieve because there you have very few options.

Wild's issue is that Blizzard doesn't care about it. It's not considered an extended format, but just a dumpster where they throw whatever may be too hard to balance on Standard. It's such a missed opportunity to expand HS gameplay, but also you've to consider that Wild doesn't bring enough money because once you've got an established collection you (usually) don't need to buy tons of new packs in order to update your decks.

As Firebat also said, it'd be good if they balanced the game for fun, not only for balance.

  • What hero portraits do you use?

    Pro

For me, it depends on the decks I play.

Druid: Malfurion, but Elise for Quest

Hunter: Rexxar (grinding for 1k, less than 150 to go)

Mage: Medivh (less than 200 till 1k, no idea what to do then)

    Paladin: Uther or Arthas

Priest: Anduin (would be willing to pay for Lazul for my thief deck!)

Rogue: Maiev, but would switch to Valeera if I ever got to 1.000

Shaman: Thrall, but Morrgl for Murloc decks

Warlock: Gul'dan, but Mecha Jaraxxus in Zoo Decks (don't like Nemsy)

Warrior: Garrosh, but will switch to Deathwing soon :-)

  • Mogu Fleshshaper May Be Too Powerful!

No way this card is hit with a nerf until they see what the new post-Dragons meta demonstrates. $50 says there is some new awful card about to be unleashed which will be the #1 call for nerfs about 2 days into the next expansion.

  • Mogu Fleshshaper May Be Too Powerful!

    Mechwarper

    Arcane Flakmage

    Crystology

These three cards in Wild are far more broken. Not even comparable. Yet two of them are in Standard, basically unnoticed.

That is, without Mutate, nobody would notice about the Fleshshaper.

TL;DR: if they don't take a more aggressive stance against brokenness, in Standard AND Wild, this game will rapidly turn into a meme.

    "Something's always OP"

I love just how blunt and honest they were in that first sentence.

EDIT: Well now this comment just looks stupid because what I was referring to was taken out of the article.

Just bought Alleria, I'm so tired of looking at Rexxar!

Weird  i played 3 tavern brawls as warlock and it counted all 3 towards Quest. After my 3th loss in a row i got the 60g

  • The Pepper Thread - Share Some Good Vibes!

I had some fun with that new card that duplicates one on board, put one in your deck and one in your hand. Well.

I put it in some OTK mage deck with lots of dragons like Malygos, Kalecgos, Alexstrasza. And facing some slow resurrect priest was able to use Galaxy spell, and suddenly I have a 1 mana Malygos and a 1 mana Sathrovarr and 2 frost bolts in hand.

Well. All of a sudden it was game over :) Priest never saw it coming.

In another game I was able to do the 3 dragon combo with a 9-mana Alex, 0-mana Kalecgos, a 1-mana Malygosand a Pyroblast that was free. That is a total of 38 mana that was discounted in various ways to 10 mana :). Nice. But needless to say, I also lost a lot of games against aggro.

There are Iron Man Xbox games? Also, very good points.

Consider yourself fortunate to have avoided them - they were compared (very justly) to Superman 64 in terms of just rank unplayability. Basically nothing in the games worked at all. The games were clearly just rushed out to capitalize on the success of the movies.

  • What hero portraits do you use?

Warlock: Guldan (have the gnome but Gildan is better)

Paladin: Arthas (will use him over 1k uther when I get it)

    Priest:trynde

    Rogue:maiev

    Druid:Lunara

Shaman:Thrall (got murgl thrall is better)
