  • Dave Kosak on Tombs of Terror Randomness, Bartender Bob, Zephrys’s Lamp Easter Egg

I think another thing we should have in mind is the persistent single player run! Without it, I would never be in favor of 300 HP bosses, but now you can just play 10 min of the fight, stop in the middle and log in back to finish it latter if you need it.

The link to the deck is broken!

There's actually no deck yet lol. That was a misclick trying to fix grammar mistakes before my lunch break ends. What I'm looking for is the best way to get the 4 automatons, ( both the shuffling and the drawing) .

Jepetto Joybuzz could be an alternative too.. I want the reactor core powered steady shot

I think it's good to shake it up, quite fine with the big health pool, next adventure it might be some other sort of twist, thats cool

Except when you have done the same boss 2 times, only to lose when it's at 1 health, making you waste another 30+ minutes to get to it (and this is on normal). Definitely not going to bother doing heroic and go through that again for just a card back.

I have had the VIP ticket multiple times now and I'm still to see Bob's deck as an option. I know it exists but either I am being very unlucky or it's quite rare for it to show up.

That's a different rarity gem on the golden legendary than we're used to. I wonder if it means anything? Or maybe it's just like that to make it seem shinier.

Re: Bob, I strongly advise those who haven't to pick up the VIP card treasure when it's offered. I only picked it up out of curiosity in one of my runs, but subsequently was given the option to replace my deck with one of Bob's decks. The deck it gave me was absolutely obscene in terms of power. I won't spoil it for those who'd prefer to discover it in-game - but we're talking 'killing a plague lord from 300 health to 0 on turn 5' levels of power.

  • Elise's Zoology Report

I can see a deck like this working, at least in premise. However, I'd recommend a few modifications.

In particular, you're running several cards designed to flood the board - Wispering Woods and Forest's Aid, in particular. Both cards are fairly underwhelming in isolation, and only become particularly potent when combined with cards which support them. I would recommend either a) dropping them, or b) adding in additional cards to support them. I recommend b), personally, as there are several cards in your list which would also synergise with token support (Snip-Snap, Garden Gnome, MCT).

I would therefore suggest adding in a Savage Roar (as a finisher) and a Soul of the Forest (to capitalise on a board position). Power of the Wild would also be a good addition, either to cement a board position or just to give you a better turn two option. Cenarius is also a possible option, as he can either further generate a board or cement an already developed one (and works very well with Floop, which I recommend adding below).

To make room, I would suggest dropping Witchwood Grizzly (many of the decks in the current meta tend towards large hand sizes, and with only one Witching Hour there's not enough to incentivise its inclusion), Stampeding Roar (just isn't good enough in a lot of circumstances, particularly as you're only running three large beasts even with the Grizzly and two already have rush), and Stampeding Kodo (perfectly fine card, but has anti-synergy with the more token-heavy variant I'm suggesting; also a poor result to pull from Predatory Instincts).

Further suggestions, I'd suggest replacing Hidden Oasis with Overflow. Oasis just isn't very good without the Druid Quest active, and your list otherwise lacks multi-card draw sources. Finally, I'd recommend fitting in Floop, perhaps by dropping the Starfire, simply because Floop is fantastic and can be paired with Elise in particular for high value plays.

    Good luck, sir.

fully agree. It's great that they try out stuff, even if they have to revert it from time to time. That way there's always something happening, and change it what keeps it interesting.

Especially if it's not a new set that we have to buy / farm for.

Not worth the price imo, especially with how awful blizzcon was last year and the issues they had with VODs. If they ever came out with a virtual ticket packages where you can select which in game rewards you'd like and the price adjusted for how many you've selected then maybe I'll be interested again.

Just another wacky idea to make a relatively bad card work.. Haven't checked if this has been done yet either.

Combo would be Necromechanic+Nine Lives+Play Dead on Oblivitron  with 4 clockwork automaton in hand..

This means you gotta shuffle at least 3 automatons in deck and draw 4 (easy with Ursatron and maybe Witchwood Piper)

A tick of thaurissan would allow 2 play deads but thats even riskier

Edits: lots of grammar fixing cause my break's over.

I much prefer the 300 health bosses. If you get a great deck, you can defeat them in one go. But if your deck isn't so great, you can at least achieve something. In one case, I knew my deck wasn't good enough to have a chance at winning, but I could still stall long enough to deal over 100 damage, so the run didn't feel like a failure.

These bosses are also designed for long fights: while it is still possible to get overwhelmed by an opponent with a strong start, it's far less likely than it was in for example the Monster Hunt.

  • Dave Kosak on Tombs of Terror Randomness, Bartender Bob, Zephrys’s Lamp Easter Egg

I prefer the higher difficulty over giant health pool, because the wittling down of the final boss makes the 7 easier ones feel like a chore

  • [S66 Wild Legend] Reno Secret Mage

I like your decklists and spectating your games, so you get a +1 for this mage list too.

With your reno priest I nearly reached rank 3 last season, which is quite good for me as I don't have so much time to play. But I really had much fun :-)

  • Chapter 4 & 5 of Tombs of Terror Unlock Today!

Chapter 4, breezed through with Brann, double Capture the Flag, the 0 mana spell that refreshes your mana and a full hand to use it on, and the basic treasure, power, and deck.  Final chapter, Reno did 172 damage, passed his 22 damage Torch and a few other things on to Elise as they were in my hand when Reno died, Finley took over with 56 left, never needed Brann.  Had cleared a plague on all heroes so I had at least the four treasures for each, Finley also had the fifth (Karl the Lost) but didn't need any of his treasures.

Ultimately, I have really enjoyed this adventure, and will try to go back and clear a few additional plagues with other heroes.  So far I've only cleared Chapter 1 in Heroic so I've got that to do too.

The interaction of Tekahn and Rafaam in the final fight, and the "Final Plague" that Tekahn releases near the end of the fight have gotten me very excited to see what the third chapter of the Year of the Dragon will bring to Hearthstone!

Side Note: Reno died in spectacular fashion during my run, which is typical Reno!  I had cast Shadow of Death on Tekahn's Octosari earlier in the game, and when my first one died it drew the remaining cards in the deck for the first hero.  Next turn another Octosari died, over drawing me so freaking hard!  I went up to 9 fatigue on the final draw!  It was glorious!!!

  • Chapter 4 & 5 of Tombs of Terror Unlock Today!

    @Elric

That and the "final plague" that Tekahn releases in the final stage of the battle does have some connection to Deathwing and the Cataclysm as well.  As you may know from lore, Deathwing's was influenced by a powerful evil force.  Some have also speculated maybe a Caverns of Time connection in the third expansion.  Maybe Rafaam took an artifact that will help him go back in time and bring forward some old, powerful foes?  Which would be similar to resurrecting them if he brought a long dead enemy to the present.

Can't wait to see what it is!

  • How do I access all of the Chapters of Uldum guides easily?

    Staff Pro

We've got an in-dev thing that once finished, will appear in the nav. We don't yet have full guides for all the stuff, just short previews. There wasn't one done for chapters 1 & 2 so you won't find it!

All the Tombs of Terror content we've created can be found under the article tag.

  • Chapter 4 & 5 of Tombs of Terror Unlock Today!

Brann is my favorite of the explorers, hands down.

that being said, the fourth and final bosses in normal mode were surprisingly weak, given how intimidating their powers are.

i think Monster Hunt handled the multi-hero boss fight better, but this was a decent attempt, Tekahn just didn't feel like a big enough threat. I'm comparing him to final bosses like Kel'thuzad, Nefarian, and even Hagatha. Those battles had special effects and artwork to express that this was "it," the big showdown. Tekahn felt big technically, not visually.

Now heroic is going to be another thing entirely
