  • Neutral anti-Reno tech

Non-duplicate cards are not a problem, especially in standard

  • Neutral anti-Reno tech

    EDIT:

    OR:

FYI: Casts When Drawn always draws you another card. It never denies card draw. Just look at how Bomb works.

The idea is to have a neutral, playable but sub-optimal (maybe 4/3 would be better?) anti-Reno tech, that is not a game sealer against Reno, but it can buy precious turns (similar concept to Loatheb). Indeed, the shuffled cards are 1-costed, which means they can be cleared by Skulking Geist.

ALTERNATE, with a drawback for you (maybe this one should be called Nasty Cantrip instead)

Also notice it cannot prevent an early Zephrys the Great, because of its cost, and it's not an optimal body, nor a value generator for you (unlike Beneath the Grounds). Just a time-buyer against an incoming Highlander card, and barely a decent card anywhere else (similarly to Acidic Swamp Ooze, or Kezan Mystic).

    • What do you think?
    • Is the version with enemy 1/1 taunt more balanced and/or fun to encounter? Especially in Wild?
    • Or shuffle just 2x instead of 3x?
    • Maybe 4/3 would be more in-line with a tech card?

  • do you guys sometimes play a worse version of a deck, just to fit the theme?

Sure do.  Though really, I'm playing a version I think is a little more fun even it if is a little weaker.  I'd say I'll take up to a 10% increase in loss rate for a deck I really enjoy playing.

  • Reno Dragon Mage - Rank 5 (Anti Quest/Aggro)

Honestly, I think Mage is in a bad spot right now after the nerfs. It's less a problem with your deck specifically, as it is with the ceiling for Mage (or at least Highlander Mage) being too low compared to the rest of the meta.

I had more success with the standard version with Mountain Giant and Conjurer's Calling, because the giant becomes an early threat that requires the opponent to deal with immediately at the expense of their game plan, and can lead to snowball wins. The standard deck also has Archmage Antonidas and cheap freeze spells as an additional win condition. I felt your deck was a little too reliant on Pharos as a win condition. I've tried Pyroblast as win condition in a few decks (made a freeze mage with Naga and 2x Pyroblast that was fun, but not very good).

If you want to keep the dragons, I would suggest maybe cutting the Pyroblast and Naga, and adding in Mountain Giant and Conjurer's Calling. Conjurer's Calling also pairs well with Crowd Roaster (if you can get it to stick, harder now after the nerf). I had a dragon mage right after Conjurer's Calling came out that won a lot of games with that combo.

I tried to make a 'frog shaman' that used any frog or toad minion as well as a bunch of cheap lighting spells. it did not work, but it was super fun to build!

  • Patch 15.2 - Discover Mechanic Changes, Tombs of Terror Prep, Wild Gets the Smarter Deckbuilder

I agree it would have been nice to see this sooner because of Sunkeeper Tarim from Stonehill Defender.

However  I think as a community if we rally the pitchforks and demand refunds everytime there is a change to the game, it may put Blizzard off from making future adjustments; and I like adjustments!

  • Anyone get packs from Twitch Grandmasters?

got nothing on saturday or sunday but got three packs on Friday

Every single week, even if it's sometimes painful.

Got 5 over three days. There's not many to go around, but they exist!

  • Secret Warrior Nerf?

I was going to make a post yesterday about a change I wanted to see to discover that prevented discovering the card that triggered the discovery... so tired of Frightened Flunky being essentially an echo minion.

But then I saw this... which is a MUCH more drastic change to discover than even I was proposing. Personally, I always thought the class bonuses were a bad idea, and was surprised this change was not made back in Ungoro, where Stonehill Defender might as well have read: Choose One: Add a Tirion Fordring or Sunkeeper Tarim to your hand.

This is such a welcome change, and will go a long way toward bringing Warrior's power in line with other classes.

  • Unsolicited ramblings on the quests

I find it awesome that players are closing in on a competitive quest hunter. Still a lot of iteration to be done, but who would have guessed

I mean, you can throw 30 random hunter cards together right now and have a fairly competitive deck. I think the quest hunter is strong because Hunter is strong. Take the quest out of that deck, and it's still decent

I don't think that's true at all. There's not very much overlap between the cards in Quest and the cards in something like Midrange or Secret.

  • I think I saw a new board today after the patch?

    Staff

I love it. Seems we always get extra board when the League of Explorers comes around!

  • I think I saw a new board today after the patch?

they already fixed it in the last patch

  • Sir Finley

Why can't i see this pack?

  • Secret Warrior Nerf?

This is massive. Suddenly, Warrior is no longer undisputed king of the late game because of a single card. I still think there's going to be a home for warrior because it's a good answer to Zoo and Priest. But the days of Warrior being able to out-grind Druids and Shamans (which it was already faltering at) are probably at an end.

I wonder if this gives some breathing room to Rogue?

There is an eruption on the fingernail piano you need to play the explorers league theme.

  • Patch 15.2 - Discover Mechanic Changes, Tombs of Terror Prep, Wild Gets the Smarter Deckbuilder

I thought Elise already worked like that, whenever I have more than 5 cards being copied, she always gave me the left-most cards. I guess I was just lucky?

  • Hearthstone Hypothesis - Why is Elusive Not a Keyword?

when you are talking about the flavor of the MTG cards, you mention why you think those cards have shroud, it is not because they can fly and dodge, it is because they are magical beings that can negate your spells. maybe the leopard only has shroud because it can camouflage and dodge and stuff, but the sphinx, the leviathan, and the wall all have shroud because of they have a magical ability that allows them to ignore your magic. And the sphinx is able to look at your library because sphinx's are able to see into the future or something.

  • Patch 15.2 - Discover Mechanic Changes, Tombs of Terror Prep, Wild Gets the Smarter Deckbuilder

The change to Elise is gonna be huge! It will actually make it viable to control what you want to duplicate. Quest Maly Druid could actually start having a positive winrate.

  • Hearthstone Hypothesis - Why is Elusive Not a Keyword?

Mage doesn't have any taunts, but it has ways of generating taunts.

In MTG, Shroud and Hexproof are both keywords, and they are both very similar. hexproof is just like shroud, except shroud means nothing can target it, but when it is hexproof, you can target it, but your opponent can't.

  • Secret Warrior Nerf?

So to summarize: this nerf only affects minion discovers and not spell discovers.

  • Elise Starseeker Featured on BlizzCon 2019 Key Art

"how don't see how where will ever ve"  implies a lifetime span, and while they problably wont change that next year ( and that's the reason i will play hs always in a casual way from this exp on, and surely not in standard)  i am sure that sometimes in the future the will.

  • Secret Warrior Nerf?

    Quote From Zwane

Yes, but before this nerf, the discover would have a much higher chance of giving me a mage spell. In fact, my Vulpera Scoundrel has never offered me a spell from another class (as long as I can remember). So how is this possible? Are spell discovers always from your own class? Ah a discover is always from your own class or neutral and never from another class. I did not know that. So you can ignore all my ignorant comments in this thread :) (facepalm)

Yes, discover Spells are almost always from your class. The only difference is Rogue with his 4-mana Pirate, who can discover spells and minions, but that minion is uneffected, because it can only discover from another class.
