  • Totems Will Rise Again... Better Than They Have Ever Been!

Is it, really? I mean, I just came up with this deck as I don't have some cards to test out, ha ha.  So, can this deck compete enough against average deck according to your tests since you said this deck is "surprisingly effective"? Or, do I need to change some cards here and there?

Your valuable feedback regarding my questions is needed because I may need to take a different direction. It was an honor for site Staff testing my deck and I wish you a good day, AbusingKel 😃

  • A Symphony of Frost (Jaina) and Flame (Reno)

Hee hee. Glad you like it.

  • Zephrys: the great fails

if i am not wrong you dont become Flare because you dont have any minion on Board. That is the Reason why he gives you Lethal from Hand

  • Warlords

    Perfect for Garrosh

  • Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron

    Better than Wild Yog

  • Desert Hare

    Really good with Evolve

  • Evolve Shaman in 2019

Thanks! I tested some ideas in quest shaman and released that desert hare is not garbage with evolve :D Also mogu fleshshaper is super strong card for this architype. So i made evolve shaman :D

Rascal is better than former champ, so if u have 2 copies of rascal i suggest to swap them.

  • Will they move Whizbang to the Classic set?

    Quote From Farenough

No, they will reprint and resell it instead.

You joke, but they've already done this by printin Zalye shadow cloak, so I think it's safe to assume they won't make him evergreen

  • Zephrys: the great fails

    Quote From RavenSunHS

i play Zephrys TWICE in the same turn, and in neither case did he offer me the SI:7 Infiltrator or Flare that could give me lethal.

Only 3 redundant options: Eviscerate, Fireball, Swipe. Twice.

For future reference, if you play Zephy with Brann or shaman quest hero power, he will give you the same options twice without exceptions.  He will not take the fact that he just gave you these choices into account.  If you somehow play zephy twice in a row, the options will only change if the first options became unplayable due to you spending an additional 2 mana.  Since he gave you evis, fireball and swipe on 8 mana the first time, you can assume he will give you the same options again because all these options are also playable on 6 mana

Not calling you a n00b; this is just FYI

  • building a competitive deck for standard without using any legendaries

Murloc shaman is currently at the bottom of tier 1 @ 55%wr on HSReplay.  It has no legendaries in the core, only 2 epics and is mostly composed of classic/basic cards.  If you want to reach legend right now f2p, it's not very hard.  Whether or not you want to is another matter entirely though

IMO, reaching legend f2p has never been very hard.  Being f2p only hinders your ability to play fun/interesting decks

    This seems so cool!

I love the idea of trying a standard rogue highlander and bouncing zephrys etc but don't have the cards yet to try it myself. And as ftp it would be nice to know if it's viable before spending my precious dust.

Have you tried an equivalent standard version??

The efficient bounce options in Standard are reduced to Shadowstep and Waggle Pick. You can use brewmasters, but they are a Tempo loss.

If you try Standard, i would suggest going straightforward for a faster deck, including stuff like Argent Commander and other Tempo cards, without caring too much of bouncing, if not occasionally.

All in all, i am not sure Standard Rogue has enough tools to make this viable, unlike eg Hunter.

    Quote From Bersak

To sum things up a little:

    - Secrets are an issue. But i think there is no good solution either. He can‘t possibly assume the secret, hence specific answers won‘t be shown. He could give the SI7 infiltrator more often as an option, especially against mage. I‘m saying that without knowing the probability with 4 mana left. It‘s difficult to draw the line, hungry crab for instance is offered to frequently imo. In those cases, it seems stupid that he offers 3x damage and not more variety. (Probably not that easy to code)

    - He doesn’t realize the importance of specific minions. Stuff like Deathlord has theoreticly a positive effect for you and Zephrys won‘t morph it.

    - Early game boards in general confuse him. I guess the options are simply not polarizing enough. It‘s probably on the player to polarize towards an obvions answer.

    - When looking for a card to play next turn, make sure you have no mana left when you play Zephrys. (I wonder if he ever offers Mind control). Ysera is a common option here btw. Pyro if your opponent is below 10 health. I don‘t know if he considers warrior or priest heropowers, probably not

    - When planing lethal, it‘s crutial to play out all the other required cards first.

This is good advice on player side.

On devs side tho, there is more that could be said: many whiffs could be solved if more VARIETY was enforced in the code that looks for immediate answers.

If one of the options, just one, is a tech (including silence when strong effects are on the board), even during lethal, it's up to the player to choose that tech, instead of sheer damage/removal.

Maybe even the tech option is not enough, sure, that's life, but at least one is given their best chances.

Zephrys the Great should NEVER offer 3 options that are largely REDUNDANT with each other, especially when used to fish for immediate solutions, including lethal.

That would be enough to make him more consistent to expectations, without any risk of turning him into a i-win button.

  • Surprisingly bad decks?

    Quote From Scorpyon

I beat Mech Hunters all the time, without a problem, and went 10 wins on the brawl facing mostly people playing that deck.
    :-P
But my own anecdotal evidence doesn't account for much, because everyone's experiences with / against different decks will always be varied and specific to them.
(If you get the meaning behind that sentence; saying a deck is good/bad because you did well (or badly) with it isn't really a fair argument)

The point being that I believe the deck is certainly not as strong as it was in the previous meta. Whether it is "bad" or not is mostly down to personal opinion. So while I can say that I think it now is, you can also say you think it isn't. But it's one of those questions that can't really be answered accurately until the meta has had a month or two to settle. :-)

Mech hunter is a highly polarized deck, which means one person beating it all the time doesn't really mean anything (in fact, it's to be expected).  Its main purpose is to hunt down those mages and slower hunters, which make up a lot of the meta.  It also has a stellar winrate against less powerful, but still popular decks like quest druid, quest shaman, zoos and rogues

Power level is an aggregate of a deck's raw power level and it's interaction with the current meta.  Mech hunter is a mediocre deck in a vacuum, but it is carried by it's great matchups against popular decks.  This makes it a good deck for climbing and that's reflected in its winrate in stats

This is statistics, not anecdotal evidence and these stats are consistent with this deck's winrates and matchups in RoS, meaning it's pretty stable.  People can call the meta unsettled or early all they want but the fact of the matter is, the early meta is a meta itself.  It probably won't stay this way in the super long term but for now, it exists.  Just like during a meta later in an expansion cycle, you can queue a ladder game at high ranks and expect to see decks from the top of the tier list.  If you choose decks that counter these, you may be rewarded, which is what mech hunter is at the moment

eh not everybody reports in to the internet sites that hosts stats like this. (hearthpwn, icy, etc..) shit will get nerfed on up as it should. props to blizzard and friends for this current expansion.. bugs will be squashed

That's not how it works. If a deck is (too) strong, it will rise up and there will be an outcry from the community within days. There isn't some secretly super broken deck that flies under everyone's radar but Blizzard's. And up until now, not a single person has cried about quest rogue.

  • Hearthstone in China Gets Tournament Mode with Prizes

It's wrong! Battlenet Points are not the same as the Reward Points which are used for redeeming. 1 Battlenet Point = 1 Chinese Yuan, and 388 Battlenet Points = 60 packs. And people can get Reward Points equal to the money they deposit.

  • 8/14 patch

    Staff

Most likely a bunch of bux fixes. Sadly Blizz has never been too good at communicating the exact contents of these small patches.

  • Totems Will Rise Again... Better Than They Have Ever Been!

Fun and surprisingly effective. Splitting Axe and Totemic Surge are huge difference makers for the archetype.

  • Hearthstone in China Gets Tournament Mode with Prizes

I agree with you.....that is why I edited my comment that the 3 packs for the brawl may be forthcoming.  You are correct that you did no specifically say launch day, bu I think that people (including myself) assumed that it would be on launch day because the post was titled "Launch Day Survival Guide".  Maybe using the word wrong was to much.  Just a little confusion.  With that said you guys are doing a great job and your site will always be my #1 go to site for Hearthstone news.

  • 8/14 patch

Both PC and Amazon (Android) versions just patched for me. But I can't find any patch notes or notice anything different.

Does anyone have information on what is updated or changed?

  • The Supreme Pillage of Uldum

Just a fun little deck I play in wild casual. I suspect Burn Mage will dominate the ladder this expansion and there is no reason for me to build a half-serious deck. I mean, I could try and add some early-game cards like Dead Ringer, Bloodmage Thalnos, Mistress of Mixtures and Spirit Lash, in order to complete the quest extremely fast and shut down the opponent's aggression, but this would just hurt the fun aspect of the deck and make it feel more like a typical ladder one, which I'm not interesting in experiencing.

I use Questing Explorers instead of Dead Ringers, because I want to get better value from Twilight's Call and N'Zoth, the Corruptor. I want the spell to summon as many Sylvanases as possible. Conjured Mirage is here to delay the opponent's aggression and bring us to turn 5, when our AoEs kick in.

If however some of you are interested in a more serious list, just ask and I can give you some tips on how to make them more competitive.

Editor's notes - I knew, that [Hearthstone Card (conjurered mirage) Not Found] would be useful in this deck, but I never expected it to overperform that well. It has won me many games against aggro (including burn mage), so I decided to bring this deck to the ladder and see how it would perform there. I managed to reach rank 6 with it (from rank 10) and made some changes, in order to make the deck a bit more competitive (but still fun to play). Right now I'm working on creating a guide containing information about the different MUs, but so far I can comment on:

    - burn mage;
    - Big Priest;
    - odd paladin;
    - mech hunter;
    - even shaman (old version) and murloc.
    - jade or armour jade druid.

I have faced other classes and other decks, but this is what I have been frequently encountering for the past few days (incl. in casual).

Taking a small break, I will write the "class specific tips" section a bit later.

  • Hearthstone in China Gets Tournament Mode with Prizes

Seriously? Blizz allows NetEase to do this for them because they and I'm paraphrasing big time but "weren't able to do so". They really need to address this now that it is made public on the internet. This is bad publicity for them in the west, which I might add, is where they are freaking based....
