I’m really excited with Mercenaries and I would like to know peoples opinion.
Which bundle will you buy? Personally I’m will chose Lich King because i feel good protectors are few ( Lich and Cairne). even if I love Diablo.
for the leveling up, I will concentrate on Lich king, Cairne, Xyrella, Millhouse, blinkfox, breathwing, Tirion, Tyrande, Samuro et Diablo/Sylvanas/Illidan if I have the chance to open them.
i m still thinking on which team to build for PVP:
i might start with : Cairne/Tyrion/Xyrella with blinkfox/Millhouse/Lich king on the bench due to there long cool down.
I bought the Diablo and Lich King bundles: I like them both, I think they could be strong together, and I wanted a solid head-start in Mercenaries for article write-ups and the like.
Based on what I saw in Trump's Mercenaries videos, I think the Starting Party has a solid game-plan: 2/2/2 Role coverage, with battle comps leaning 2/1 in favor of your Role advantage (leaving the two disadvantaged people on the bench). This means my dream starting comp - Lich King/Diablo/Xyrella - isn't really a good idea because the "balanced" approach leaves one of them vulnerable to double damage in basically all situations (which the PvE AI will target, from what I could tell).
With that in mind, here's my go-to Party (assuming I pull them):
TLK and Cairne are Speed-manipulators, which I think could be powerful. They also come with healing and Taunts.
Diablo is a Speed-manipulating Fighter, and can punish enemies who go slower (see a pattern?). Tirion is more defensive, but can neuter Attackers.
Xyrella can also counter Attackers, heal, and nuke enemies after she's healed a bunch. I'm not sold on Anduin, but there are two Humans in the comp already so I might as well consider it. Couldn't think of a second Caster that fits what I want to do. Maybe Uther?
I don't have any grand plans. I have barely even looked at the different abilities each character has as I'm keen to go into it 'dark' (or as dark as I can). I'll just do what I do when building a team the first time a I play a new Pokemon game, and use whichever ones look most cool at the time I find them.
In the long run I'd love to be able to run a Valeera + Varian + Broll Bearmantle team, but there's a lot of things in the way of that sadly. Broll doesn't exist yet, Valeera kind of doesn't exist yet *grrrr*, and Varian has a human tribe focus which isn't very useful for a mixed race lineup. Oh well.
While I really do not care about this mode and will probably never invest any time or ressources into it beyond trying it out on Launch I'm somewhat interested in getting Anacondra and all the Beast stuff together and see where that takes me. Whether that is even possible without dumping gold on packs I don't know, but I'll try it anyways
I will probably just try this new game mode a bit (at launch day) to see what it is about personally ONLY because it is in the same client/mobile app.
However, I doubt Mercenaries will be my cup of tea, just like Battlegrounds which is nothing like traditional (collectible) card games. I started playing Hearthstone as it is for me a more accessible alternative to Magic: The Gathering. Duels on the other hand is still very similar to traditional Hearthstone which is probably why I do enjoy that game mode every now and then. There is only so much time to spend in a single day and playing any other game would just take away time from playing traditional Hearthstone.
The fact that Diablo is in Mercenaries is probably the only interesting thing for me. Hopefully, he will join traditional Hearthstone soon™ too.
and use whichever ones look most cool at the time I find them.
Hey, in Pokemon Blue, I would always spend way more time than necessary in Viridian forest trying to farm that 5% chance of Pikachu showing up. And then subsequently spending time leveling my Pikachu via caterpies and pidgeys. Doesn't matter that Brock was a ground gym that completely countered Pikachu. Level him up enough and quick attack can still do the trick. :D
Even if they sucked, when I played Yellow, I would always keep the "big 3" trifecta and Pikachu in my party (Squirtle, Charmander, Bulbasaur) even if by all try-hard accounts most of them were bad (except Squirtles evolved form, Blastoise, which apparently is a half-decent competitive pokemon but I digress). Sometimes aesthetics/fun outweights sweatiness/tryharding :)

*Pushes glasses up nose* Actually, Brock was the Rock gym, while the final gym in Viridian City was the Ground gym (originally). Geodude and Onix being Rock/Ground was a bad coincidence more than anything. Just sayin' :)

I was going to do this myself, but to be fair to Sykomyke, every Pokemon in the Pewter city gym is ground type, but not all rock. Diglett and Sandshrew were there, at least in the original games. Meanwhile the Viridian gym has a whole load of non-ground types, such as Tauros, Primape and Machoke.

For going through the story competitive prowess in Pokemon is pretty meaningless I find. Sure the pseodo-legendaries (Dragonite, Tyranitar, Salamence etc) are always OP, but they also level so slowly that they're not really any better when going through the story, if you can even find them before the Elite 4. Similarly some Pokemon are great competitively but hopeless in the story. E.g. Smeargle and Wobbuffet.
I've used every last non-legendary Pokemon (gens 1-7) up to the Elite 4, and I proudly say I often had the most fun with the weak ones. Luvdisc was a surprise favourite. It's pathetically weak, but fast and troll-y enough that it made a surprisingly good set-up Pokemon in my all water team.
*Pushes glasses up nose* Actually it's AngryShuckie, with an i, not an l. I'm not just named after a Shuckle. I'm named after the Shuckle. The one, the only, that you absolutely definitely don't steal from the guy in Cianwood city who's scared someone will steal one of his Pokemon after Silver yoinked his Sneasel.
I won’t put tlk on the starters because his main ability has 2 turnS CD , as caster Xirella will gave the time to buff your other characters or burst one of the enemy out. That why I like Tirion or Millhouse

Do we know if one's abilities further their Cooldown while on the bench? Because if not, you'll always have to wait the two turns to use Frostshield regardless of when TLK enters the fight. Same for Millhouse and his Greater Arcane Missiles.
On Trump early access we can see that cool down decrease from the bench, it might change so but if not it would have to be taken in consideration and some late abilities will be available by only spend 3 turn maximum on the benc
Hmm...I watched the Trump videos a couple times each now, but must have missed it. All well; seems cool if that's the case. Gives Brightwing more use*, being the only character who can willfully swap back to the bench. Otherwise someone has to die, and I'd rather not let that happen in the first place lol
* Not that I'm ever going to use that little shit, except maybe after everyone else is maxed out.

I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
I don't buy the bundles. I'll level up what I get as (Mercenaries-)f2p.

I checked kripp video as well and his Xyrella hit the ground with all three abilities available.
