  • Its weird, because the risk and rewards are basically at polar opposites to one another.

Unfortunately, this is a card more for streamers to scream about to their fans. Far as competitive is concerned, it can easily give you a massive advantage on top of being a soft taunt, or it can make you curse at your screen and destroy your keyboard.

I like how the one ogre head is manhandling his other though.

  • It doesnt look all that good now, but no doubt further reveals will show why this card was printed at all.

On its own as a 4 drop weapon its fairly expensive as a value card but it still does hit face for 8 and that has got to count for something. The extra deathrattle value may be what really pushes this card over the edge as an excellent weapon.

  • Its so baffling how weak this card actually appears that Im doubting myself for giving this a bad rating.

Maybe its the presumptive winner of this expansions 'Lady Liadrin' Award.

Or maybe its exactly what it looks like: shite on a stick.

  • Just no. Paladin isn't exactly hurting for heals and aside from the fact that this cant even kill your opponent, there's certainly better weapons than this one like Underlight Angling Rod and Sword of the Fallen. Even Truesilver Champion essentially does the job better.

What signals are team5 sending us? Is this card really so OP if it could hit face?

Unless there's like major cards down the line to upgrade weapons I just dont see why this card even need to exist, and as an epic no less.

  • My favourite archetype for rogue has practically been signalled.

So what's in it for rogue? At the moment not much. There's simply not many good deathrattles around for rogue unless you like to shuffle more pushies into your deck. But I remain optimistic that a card like this cannot exist without a few better deathrattles being printed for the class.

  • If youre right, then that's more the pity for this card.

Oh well, going for value it shall be then.

  • Its certainly very strong, close to broken. But in the wrong class, because shaman can't draw much that isn't an elemental and they certainly don't play for value right now. Basically you'll never want this in your hand during the first 6 turns and then when it does show up its only true function would be to reload your hand.

I'd think realistically its more a control card, both for reload and value. But with enough support this one card can basically just mimic Corrupt the Waters back in standard for a short while.

Huge potential, but much like Murmuring Elemental and Electra Stormsurge, its likely not really going to achieve much in standard. Which would be a shame, because I really like value decks and this one is certainly a core element to doing that in shaman.

  • Its certainly a different Brann Bronzebeard, perhaps broken even.

You can play a bunch of smaller battlecries to repeat the essential first one. Like reloading your hand with Primal Dungeoneer's battlecry or Venomous Scorpid's. Or somehow attain lethal with Mistrunner's, Fire Elemental or Circus Medic. Maybe we'll be hearing more from Pen Flinger sooner than we think.

It does have a few problems of its own; it exist in a class without much draw, and honestly it kinda reminds me of the potential that was Electra Stormsurge which didn't really go anywhere on top at the end. You can barely slot this into the current doomhammer or elemental shaman as it is, despite what the video is showing because in what world do you not mull your hand for your smaller elementals and certainly holding on to dungeoneer with this card just to reload is perhaps a bit too optimistic given that the only real card you need is Doomhammer and the associated buffs 90% of the time.

  • Its actually not really as good as it seems. The first problem with this card is that its a 6 mana card with no taunt or rush. The second problem is that its a low stated card for a 6 drop. So essentially its too slow for aggro decks and a bit too small for midrange. The only way you'd be playing this card is that your deck is equipped for burn or you're a control deck.

It'll never realistically be ignored on board so what you have here is a 4/5 for 6, draw 2 cards. Is that really good enough? My bet's on no.

But that's not to say that it'll never see any play. Im sure that if youre playing a class with no card draw like hunter you'd probably want some extra consistency, even with a tempo loss. And at the end of the day, its still a ok card for control.

  • Demonlock is not very far off from being viable, but the fact that this card is not a demon himself really pulls the power level of this card slightly. One of the reasons why Crystalweaver was a playable card was because it comes on turn 4 and is a decent stated minion himself. And that was a different time in hearthstone when removal options weren't just everywhere.

But there's always the chance this card just surprises everyone. I mean a +2+2 to most of your board can never truly be ignored can it?

  • Honestly, had the reward ended with the upgraded hp, it would still be one of the best revealed quests so far.

The point is that the quest is very easy to complete. First day of school already completes the first tier and you only need another 3 more 1 costed cards to do the next. The fact that the end reward buffs your dudes is mere icing on the cake, ensuring that your opponent can never just ignore these things.

And with cards like Lothraxion the Redeemed waiting on turn 5, is there any doubt that this deck will work? Whether it gets to tier 1 is not the question. The deck looks solid enough to climb up ranks, unlike the other quests revealed so far.

  • It could be better, and could actually get better as dhunters get more fel spells worth casting.

At the moment, the only thing this card can do is to finish games, and dhunters have plenty of those already - not to mention that this one comes with a condition that you need to actually draw and play those spells first.

Im not that optimistic at the moment, but no doubt this can change once more dhunter cards gets revealed. Team5 dont usually print legendaries without some form of support.

  • On paper it looks powerful. Being able to essentially hit for at least 6 damage from the double Fury (Rank 2) at minimum is fairly respectable. But the most you can ever manage would be 2x fury and 2x Chaos Strike, with maybe 2x Eye Beam and that's about it. And note you really got to play those spells before playing this card, so essentially you need to draw/play those spells first and if the total damage coming out of this doesn't kill your opponent what you've got here is an unplayable 8 drop messing up your outcast positions.

Perhaps theres more fel spells up ahead that will justify playing this card not merely as a finisher, but as a tempo card on its own. But at the moment, it really doesn't look all that impressive.

  • Quote From Iksar
I think the main takeaway is that if I were to make a list of all Hearthstone cards in standard and ask players to pick their favorite one. I imagine Illucia would be high on the list. That has to count for something.

Really? Is there really a big illucia following in hearthstone? Far as I know, its either never mentioned in discussions, or spoken negatively because lets face it, no one wants to be illucia-ed.

Also, how many times is someone going to ask Iksar what his favorite anime is. Seems like this one gets in nearly every Q&A session. Is he bumping up some ads for fullmetal alchemist and/or naruto?

  • Oh this is just amazing. No, not the reward. The fact that the second prize is to basically allow you to play odd paladin in standard. And what do we have to do to claim this prize? Play six 1 mana cost card. That's it?

So basically you fill your deck with fifteen 1 cost card/minions, get the upgraded hp hopefully by turn 3-4, and from then onwards your opponent will need to either kill you quickly, or continually respect your dudes on board because if they don't they just get destroyed either by a sudden Lightborn Cariel out of nowhere, or just plain Conviction (Rank 2).

After looking at the quests revealed so far, its amazing how slow everyone else's quests are and how ridiculously quickly you can finish up paladin's. One card alone, First Day of School, provides fuel to complete 1 tier of the quest. If there are downsides with this, the requirement is for 3 different 1 cost card. Not sure how the second and third tier requirement will interact with the first. So if I play first day of school to complete the first does that mean I cant do the same for the second and third?

  • I was wondering if outofcards would actually feature this in an article, given the busy schedule and all that.

Guldan's story has got to be one of the best if not straight up the best of the lot. That says alot for a character that was killed off in warcraft 2. Other characters may have longer stories, but only Guldan's feels complete; from his tragic upbringing to his rise and corruption of the horde, and his ultimate downfall caused by his own lust for power.

The actual battle itself was fine. The puzzles were a good break from the previous books, with the difficulty fairly adjusted (I only struggled for 15 minutes with the Fenris puzzle). Final battle was forgettable, but not really suffering in comparison with the other's anyway.

Oh, and this guldan's voice acting is superior to the one we have currently, bizarrely enough.

  • Its important that this card has the tradeable keyword because otherwise its really so niche in standard that I cant really see anyone playing it.

There is a possibility of a demonlock somewhere in standard right now, and since that deck is midrange this card can slot in easily. But not being a demon itself really makes it less attractive a prospect.

Oh well, if nothing else at least you can just trade notbob for another card from your deck, easily the best thing about this card to begin with.

  • Deathrattle dhunter or spell mage works pretty well. Basically able to guarantee weapon on 1, boar on 2, skull on 6, deathspeaker on 7 is pretty nuts.

For mage, its basically incanter's flow on 2 everytime all the time.

  • Its kinda like Mogu Cultist except in deathrattle form and definitely easier to do.

But like mogu cultist is likely just a card for the memes. Because even if for some reason you're able to assemble the combo the sword doesn't win the game right away and even a simple taunt can easily just block this from winning. Also, if you're going to die on board then this sword doesn't save you neither. At very least Highkeeper Ra will more or less clear the board for you even if he doesn't just win the game outright.

  • It'll draw 2 cards for you at very least, and then 2 more if for some reason it actually stays alive for more than a turn.

Definitely a card to watch in midrange decks but I suspect the decks running this card would likely be control decks because its kinda slow to be honest. Anything after 5 mana tends to require either rush or taunt to work and this one has neither, on top of having lower stats for its cost.

That said, anything that draws you cards would at some point be relevant so there might yet be a chance that the meta slows just enough that this gets auto included into midrange decks simply because it draws and requires an answer or it just snowballs hard.
