Pretty sure it'll summon another one with reborn. And all in all it'll leave you with at least 3-4 corpses when dead, so the net spend is really not that much as it looks.
All the requirement does is making it hard to play on curve.
Its corpse fodder. But the interesting point about this card as the rune requirement. Seems like something that should be available to all, because its really not great, comparable to relic dhunter playing Relic of Phantasms on turn 3 with no vault - just a progression card, not really intended to do more.
Will see play because why wouldn't it when DK relies on corpses and this one card provides 4. A nice follow up into Malignant Horror on 4.
Its basically undead Zilliax but it can't choose its target and cost 1 more.
Just a good but not great card for DK. Not even sure where it fits to be honest. Blood decks would love the lifesteal but not sure if they want something like this at all.
Edit: I think the description actually allows for this to hit face at the end of the turn as well. God, really? If so then this card might have a chance after all into the list of stuff to be nerfed. Imagine leaving this alive and getting smacked in the face twice because there's nothing else on board.
Likely a dangerous early game option, and probably good reasons to never remove that 1 drop played on 1. Fortunately for us, the corpse risen doesn't count as a corpse when dead.
But it does wane in power somewhat in later stages, when the 1/2 taunt is but a gnat to be swatted away. One of the few good, but not great cards that has a bizarre 2 rune requirement.
Not to be confused with the original lich king card with the same name.
Basically this is just good removal. Which is weird because you'd think that unholy decks are good enough on their own without being better at removing things than blood decks. Probably won't be nerfed, but then again, this card is power creeping similar removal options like Command the Illidari.
The only question remains whether the risen ghouls count as corpses when dead. If not, then this card is just good. If yes, then the corpse requirement is completely moot.
If there's a list of cards that are in contention for a nerf this card would be top 10. One mana to freeze and deal 2 damage, practically destroying dhunters all on its own. Not surprising that Ice Revenant got nerfed as a precaution, because imagine this shit along with it after a Horn of Winter.
Like seriously, do we really need to rate this card?
It'll get nerfed at some point. Im already thinking frost decks would be the best DK deck come 6 Dec, and this card just seals the deal. Only the rune requirement is stopping this from getting into all DK decks for the next year.
The only thing bringing this card down a tad is the fact that the damage only happens at the end of the turn. So you can't go through a taunt if there's one, and you cant dictate the board in the face of deathrattles.
But aside from that this card is fine, great even. Do 2 damage for 5 mana is bad, but lifesteal and the possibility of the doing more damage means this card will always do the job of clearing the board one way or another. And any healing is welcomed. Against aggro decks this card is just a slamdunk autoconcede option, that's more than enough justification for the card's inclusion.
The rune requirement and the archetype of blood decks means this card will never be in anything other than control. But a good card nevertheless.
In 2016 this card would be unreal. But in 2022 its just a meh. Gain one corpse for 1 mana? The only way this ever sees any play is in a midrange burn frost deck, where even 1 corpse on a 1/3 stick is a desirable turn 1 play.
But the moment there's any 1 drop reborn minion this card would be immediately power crept in my opinion.
Its very likely not good enough unless DK is really struggling for draw. The main problem is the cost. Drawing 2 for 3 is Arcane Intellect, but unlike that card this one only draws one initially. So you're really paying the price of a delayed draw effect.
Im not even sure you'd play this over Treasure Guard to be honest. At least that card does something other than being fodder.
I like this card to be honest. 4 mana for a very sticky minion, with a net spend of 1 corpse. That's fine honestly. If youre looking to flood board this card is solid, and if there are handbuffs this card is just completely insane.
A nice little target for Invincible and other related buffs, but its large initial corpse requirement would likely doom it to only unholy decks. Because I dont see blood or frost decks come remotely close to playing this on curve.
One corpse requirement means you can never play this on 1, and there's a distinct possibility of this failing.
But let's be real here. Even if you double the requirement this card is insane, assuming of course that there are better weapons in stall other than Frostmourne.
Tutoring effects should always be respected, regardless of viability. But I think its beyond a doubt that this card would be good. No rune requirement too.
That corpse requirement is the biggest problem here. Spending so many corpses to build up a board that will likely simply be removed by 1 card from your opponent. Perhaps in unholy decks this card can see some play in some hypothetical hyper aggro deck, where the corpses are less impactful.
Because the amount of stats this one card can generate is illegal. Even if the groom is taken down there's still a 4/4 on board, and for 5 mana that's fair enough.
The +1+1 buff is minute, and this card costs 3. Forget about the 'elusive' keyword because if ever you're playing a card like this then youre likely an aggro deck where this keyword matters very little.
Would likely see some niche play simply because unholy decks will likely flood board so often its hard for this card to never see any value. But I dont like the card's chances. It'll be that 29th card in the 30 list, to be cut whenever there's something better.
Its Frostmourne. Basically the least desirable card from the lich king set of cards.
Too expensive on 7, and still a doubt on 6 with Runeforging. Reminds me of cards like Flamereaper and the now neverplayed Gorehowl. Fact is that playing a weapon worth 7 mana isn't all that great. But the real reason why this thing isn't good enough then and today is because to gain value you'd have to face tank the damage. At 3 shots we're looking at about 10 damage on average, which isn't great.
The moment there's other weapons for runeforging to tutor, ye olde frostmourne will be iced until the next unwitting prince picks it up for another story.
Blizz, in their official capacity, should not have attempted it, but its really just an honest joke. The bombast effect of the cards alone should be informative in of itself. Is it misinformation? Yes, it is technically by definition, what more from an official position, but its so harmless that its more likely to evoke laughs than actual damages.
But I can understand the point of view of someone whose job is to keep up to date with these things. Getting pinged by nonsense is not likely to make anyone's day any easier to stomach. Still though, this is stuff to rant in private, because the good message will almost certainly be clouded by the case study's relative harmlessness.
Only for aggro but in most cases you'd rather just play Beaming Sidekick because 2 extra health is worth more than 2 extra attack.
But DK does come with plenty of reborn minions meaning this card is never really without any targets. If it turns out to be consistent then its just 1 mana 2 damage, which might just be good enough.
Funny thing is that Frostmourne used to be the worst DK card you can get off lich king, and right now it's here again completely unaltered. I dont rate its chances to be honest. 15 damage to the face is nice and all but in 2022 ignoring board on turn 6-7 tends to equal to death.
Anti-Magic Shell is too slow and weak, but in unholy decks it could work because you're likely to be flooding board, and with so many reborn minions it might be impossible to keep DK's board empty unlike paladin.
Pretty sure it'll summon another one with reborn. And all in all it'll leave you with at least 3-4 corpses when dead, so the net spend is really not that much as it looks.

Sure why not? Just casually draw 2 cards with 2 mana.
Im beginning to think that the class doesn't actually have any weaknesses other than corpse deprivation.
Likely a dangerous early game option, and probably good reasons to never remove that 1 drop played on 1. Fortunately for us, the corpse risen doesn't count as a corpse when dead.

Just another card that will likely get nerfed because its simply powercreeping all other 2 mana removal cards.
Because if you have a removal option that can clear a total of 5 health and splitted into two parts, that card would be overpowered, as it is here.
Dangerous tempo card to be granted to unholy decks, who can flood board pretty well on its own, let alone helped by this.

Such a weird article to wake up to honestly.
