  • Prince Renathal may actually get a nerf in future, because the balancing act will eventually get ridiculous. Hearthstone has for the most part been designed around 30 health, and a change in the health total has a significant impact on power levels introduced.

No matter how you cut it, aggro decks are meant to gas out just around the time where the opponent's health is reduced to somewhere around 12 or less, and if everyone is jamming this card to reach 40 health it means team5 have to, as a consequence, design cards for aggro decks to compete with it, so aggro will only get stronger, not weaker the longer 40 health becomes the norm. Soon having 4/5s on 3 will be more common, or some form of disruption like Revenant Rascal will get printed more often.

Will it promote more midrange decks? Not necessarily. I think control benefits the most from it, because the 40 cards penalty actually matters less to them while the additional 10 health remains significant. Midrange wants to curve out, and that 40 cards cuts its consistency enough that I think the best midrange decks would probably not have renathal in it.

I dont really like rock-paper-scissors metas myself, but I think the main thing is about diversity, interaction, and avoiding those 'draw card and win' decks that has plagued druid for years. This new 40 health fad won't change this, but for what its worth its at very least allowing some bit of diversity, and a little more nonce when deckbuilding, which is good.

But in my opinion, the card will likely get changed, or get banned from standard after about a year. Like genn/baku did before it, such gameplay alterations not only affects balance, it can also make the game feel stale. At its very worst it can promote that same feeling of helplessness felt whenever baku warrior comes up and games starts lasting in excess of 15-30 minutes each. No one wants that, surely.

  • Seems like someone in team5's mercs devs just loves his iteration of dopplegangsters that the nerf is pathetic. What exactly is this particular fight that's so valuable that a proper rebalancing cannot be done? You're still required to run specific mercs just so they dont kick your arse on the way to the boss. Funnily, even the boss fight is nothing in comparison with this bs.

  • The timeline between expansions is roughly 4 months. Sunken city started on 12th April, this expansion will start 26th July.

Barrens started on 30th Mar, stormwind started 3rd Aug

In other words, we're starting the party about 2 weeks early. May not matter much to some, but to others its potentially about 1000+ gold. That's 10 packs minimum we will be able to afford at the start of the expansion.

Edit: turns out that the expansion is coming out on 2nd Aug. Oh well, guess I made an error.

  • Quote From theo333

1 Anima counts as 1 mana I assume?

Infuse procts with each friendly minion death. So in essence, if this is in your hand while three friendlies dies, then this gets +2+2

  • There is a world where this card is good. Shadow priest is already a good aggro archetype, and if you manage to swarm boards this card may get to a 4/5 by turn 3 perhaps. Even if it only gets there on turn 4, you can ping for 2 and play a 4/5 taunt

Besides, even if all fails, you can play this on 2 for a 2/3 croc. For an aggro deck that's still not the end.

Edit: Just discovered that this is in fact a neutral card. Well, that makes this card all the better because decks like aggro druid swarm boards anyway. While its fairly impossible to get a 4/5 on turn 2, its still possible by turn 3, and for that reason this card will likely see play.

  • Getting legendary minions are options all classes would want. So this card is good.

But giving your opponent stuff rarely ever is, so this card is bad.

One good thing is that you get the card first, and your opponent can fk up. But let's be honest here, unless all three legendaries are good, your opponent will almost always know what you've picked. The card has potential, but I wouldn't be surprised if no one plays this card. Just not really in sync with what priest wants to do.

  • If rogue can fill the board this one card can potentially draw you 4 cards for 4 mana.

But unfortunately, rogue rarely ever swarm boards so you're probably just drawing 2 for 2. Still good though, given how bad rogue draws nowadays.

Will see play unless better draw options exists. But this card is certainly teetering on the edge of viability.

  • Envoy of Lazul saw no play so I dont expect this to either.

The problem is justification. Why even bother? The cards you get are random, the conditions are not easy, and even if you managed to guess all three correctly you're being given cards that may not necessarily help your gameplan, unless the gameplan itself is to meme about.

The only reason why Im even giving this 3 stars is because its a murloc with 3/4 stats and an upside. Otherwise, its only inclusion might just be in thief rogue, where all the memes are at. If you want to win, however, you'd probably not play this card.

  • Probably bad, unless your opponent's board is particularly full of minions or there's a cheap way to do a whirlwind, like Iceblood Garrison. The problem is that no fool will ever let you setup your turn in such a way that this ever gets massive and clears the board. And without those setup, this card is just a weaker samuro, perhaps worse.

As a removal itself, you're better off with Brawl or Shield Shatter, because at very least those things don't need a setup.

I guess we know now why she lost her last fight.

Edit: It does hit face, so its has inherent charge attached. I'd still rather just go with galvangar, that's just easier to setup

  • This one has potential but only because muck pool is available. Without Muck Pools you're really just hoping it survives a turn so you can do your insane moves, otherwise you'd have to wait until about turn 7 realistically.

The one thing this card has going for it is the fact that it has 6 health, which means your opponent will likely need to throw everything at it to kill. And that alone might be worth inclusion in a deck, whether it actually does those insane turns or not.

Certainly a card with a competitive edge.

  • After reading the desc again, you might be right in that you get copies of the card you guessed correctly. So you can get 2 out of 3 right and get 2 cards.

But looking at how Envoy of Lazul turned out, I still think this is a card for either aggro or murlocs. Its not necessarily telling you much your opponent has in their hand, because only one choice is correct, so at most you get a peek at 2 cards, one of which is a card that started in their hand, not currently in.

Besides, I think people tend to overvalue hand info. Hearthstone today is faster paced than it has ever been, so having hand info can help but rarely ever does anything significant. Most good players tend to play around them by default anyway, taking risks only where necessary.

  • Its the new baku/genn. The downsides are fairly trivial because some classes simply draws way too well. You can legit just play more draw options and cheaper minions to fill your curve while playing control. That's not impossible certainly.

While I dont think every deck will be playing it I wouldn't be too surprised to see some competitive decks with it, because 10 additional health is really a mountain against burn/aggro decks.

  • The problem with this card is that it costs 3 mana which means its never realistically going to make those evolve shaman nightmares come back. Muck pools adequately does that job better than this one.

But when it works it'll likely cause a paroxysm of glee, while your opponent gets stroke from bursting blood vessels.

Honestly, if evolve shaman does come back I wouldn't be too surprised to see this nerfed to 4, because I can distinctly see plenty of hate for this card simply because School Teacher teaches this shit.

  • Completely and utterly busted because its basically 0 mana evolve. With Goldshire Gnolls on the prowl you can bet seeing a 10 drop on turn 4 again.

And if nothing else, it upgrades your minions for 0 mana. What's there not to like?

  • The main point of the card is that its a 0 mana ping. Basically for 1 mana you get to do this three times and your opponent can't (for now anyway) interact with it.

I think it's hard to want this unless your minions benefit from it as well, via frenzy effects etc. Because dealing 1 damage is nice and all but it'll likely never win you the game or present a threat to the opponent. And you can't even ping your opponent's minions unless it kills them or they will likely kill you.

But all in all, a nice solid card that can get better.

  • Alright, I've always been a sucker for detective themes and gothic castles so this expansion looks incredible to me. The cards though?

Sanguine Depths and Muck Pools as the new card type is interesting simply because it guarantees effects, you dont have to spend mana for them. Looking at their power level, I'd say that they will see play. Because why the hell would they not? Muck pools is basically upgrading your minions for 0 mana. Looking forward to those goldshire gnolls bs already.

Prince Renathal is the new baku/genn. Its almost like an unofficial gameplay revamp because anything that is not aggro (and likely it will include aggro as well) will gladly have 10 extra health and cards because with card draw being what it is today there's no reason to believe the 10 extra cards will be an impediment. People will simply build around that with more card draw, or more cycle. Because why not?

Murloc Holmes is too clunky. Basically three times of Envoy of Lazul and its very likely you'll fk up at least one of them. And the rewards isn't necessarily even that great. It'll see play only as a meme or in murloc decks.

Primordial Wave will be the new most hated card in the game.

I like how the infuse mech work. Particularly because it only procts on friendlies. So we'll see how good it will turn out.

  • I like packs. But since this expansion has been cut short for whatever reason you'd think they be using this event to either give us more gold or at least more packs of the next expansion.

    Guess I'll keep dreaming then.

  • So I guess the days of people adding you for the sole purposes of bm would be a thing of the past? Something tells me the report button will likely be either overused and over-ignored by blizz, because the last thing they need right now is regulating their own community.

  • The website is currently hugging huge amounts of cpu for me. Probably something to do with the video ads. It didn't before the update.

I can barely use your website now without my pc threatening to explode. A real shame, because I really like using this website as my default hearthstone news broadcaster.

  • Probably going to be for warlock. Or mage, because its almost always mage
