What could an "end game" be? I imagine that the designers want to craft an experience that gives players of all levels something to work towards. And that they don't want to create an experience that feels like "well, I did xyz thing, now Mercenaries is over ".
What does that leave? My imagination is blank here.
Cru, if you're looking to try something without much filler, try a book of short stories, like Neil Gaiman's Snow, Glass, Apples.
I've also enjoyed Tolkien and the Pullman series mentioned above.
For those of you who enjoy sci-fi, I recommend The Left Hand of Darkness, by Ursula K LeGuin. Parts of that book wandered around my brain for months after reading it.
Other books that lingered (in a good way) include:
The Night Circus, by Erin Morgenstern (I could smell these scenes, the writing is that perfect)
The Count of Monte Cristo, by Alexander Dumas (this book may be old, but boring it is not!)
The Princess Bride, by William Goldman (the movie is fun, and the book is a whole nother level)
Winter is a great time for reading, thanks for all the recommendations. Will be lining them up against what my local library has available at the moment.
Sent links via message. Thanks for all your hard work on OOC. I know testing on all/many devices is not feasible.
The screenshots don't really capture that in the time it took me to type this response (maybe 65 seconds), I've had to X out of 4 ads that appear right over my words.
That was not happening last week. May the iterative improvements continue!
Hi team, did something about your video ads change this week? I know this is an important part of site revenue, but it's suddenly covering almost a third of the screen, and the X isn't always reachable.
As of last week, my Android device showed one footer video per URL, now I have to close the thing up to 9 times per article!
And I also understand the inclination to recommend a premium subscription, but at this particular moment that feels like rewarding user-unfriendly behavior.
Tip: if you can save some of your weekly quests (I've got a battlecry one sitting at 40/50) until after the expansion goes live, that XP will speed you along your fresh rewards track.
Maybe this is just my inexperience, but how could someone cheat in Hearthstone?
I grasp the idea that some people consider it cheating to view your opponent's live stream. I can see how it's an advantage to know what's in their hand, but they did also choose to broadcast it.
To my knowledge, you can't mod this game, so what makes you think your opponent might be cheating?
Is it the sound that troubles you? Or the visual emote? Or both?
If audio: the suggestion to have separate sliders for each type of game sound would be a better, broader fix.
I have only Squelched an opponent a handful of times - and maybe a few more by accident when checking how many cards are in their hand. But I usually play with the sound off, so am interested to know more.
I've been following your (?) advice and fighting Your Opponent for rewards. I'm in the 5k realm and am unlikely to hit 6k before the patch.
My unmaxed teams get their butts kicked by actual human opponents who follow the meta and work the synergies. But I'm having fun, so I'm unbothered by that.
I can see how that would add replayability, but it also just sounds like Heroic mode.
We will see what unfolds, I guess!

Good call on the Spammy Arcanist. I'll be trying that soon (probably right after the season reset).
A recent Duels run just scored me the achievement of having 7 Patrons on board - too late for XP, but still a thrill to do by accident!

Bronze Wild it is then!
I always keep a couple deck slots for Achievement decks. These articles are full of good ideas!
For the Choose All option, are you saying there's no way to complete it in Standard?
For the double damage, I was lost for a while too. Then my spouse helped: Fire burns Trees, Trees drink Water, Water puts out Fire.
Maybe that will help you also?

I snagged some screenshots... Do I post them here? How? (All I see is a way to add an href)
DM you a OneDrive link?

Good luck, all!
Next up, a crossword puzzle?
True! I never read the comments, except here on OOC. Gotta protect my sanity.
A Best of 3 event sounds fun. I can see how it would be confusing to mix it with traditional ladder.
Definitely increases the complexity of queueing, both on the user side and on the server side.

Did Dean just say that most players are on a phone?
Based on the amount of times I've seen the words "right-click" around here, I assume that the average Out of Cards commenter is playing on a desktop.
That's a good reminder that the experiences here are not universal.

Today I noticed that "wolf" spelled backwards is "flow". 40+ years of speaking English and that fact had escaped me.
Shadows! Thanks for the theory-thoughts.
I am also looking forward to filling a deck with beasts and seeing what happens.
Let's goooo!
