Its always fun sorting through the AMAs, especially so when you're getting consistently awesome new bits of information. I don't know what we'd do if Dean left the Hearthstone team. Celestalon could fill in his shoes, we certainly see enough great tweets from him, but no one else stands out as an AMA king.
I think it could be cool to see a Diablo hero when Diablo 4 launches, but make it a hero skin where Deathwing is dressed up as Diablo instead of the character itself. Or, make it a limited-time hero that comes out with some other flavor item that lasts for a month, like Darkmoon Cards. They could do the same for Overwatch 2 since thats realistically the only other game they have that isn't a part of the Warcraft universe - Starcraft is a dead game seeing as how devs that were a part of it all left the company to form a couple of new studios. Even a Tavern Brawl, the Dark Wanderer brawl was cool, is a great place to do something fun like that.
I would never want to see cross-ip in the main game though, even temporary. As soon as you start drawing Kerrigan, Raynor, Reinhardt, and gang, the Warcraft flavor is gone and I've officially lost interest.
With the number of folks that ask questions, some are going to be missed. Yes, some are going to be skipped, especially if it is something that was asked previously or if Dean has no idea what to answer, but he always seems pretty open and even acknowledged when someone else should be asked a question. I don't think he avoids stuff on purpose.
Also if you did ask a question for the WoW team a while back, that shouldn't be reflected on Dean! WoW team I know also gets so many more questions and has always felt more closed off in what they say so they're always going to hit the topics that they can talk about before they start giving non-answers (though the number of WoW non-answers I've seen over the years... yikes).
I do think for Battlegrounds though, lets wait for the rework that is coming soon and then start asking questions about the mode when we have a better picture of what is going on.
Oh its definitely not but when you see someone play it just for the hell of it after they have 5 cards left and they've definitely won, it just shows how powerful the whole package still is.
I'd love to see them double up on those slots for rewards. I know so many people just don't care about golden cards that it would be a really nice square to give them something.
I think we'll see Mage played less as folks begin to play counter decks, aka RUSH EM GOOD.
Definitely frustrating to play against though. Incanter's Flow is such a stupid card - and I say that as someone that loves to abuse it as Mage. The mana cheating in Hearthstone is just so insane and really, its my only major complaint about the way the game has been designed in recent times.
Quest Mage is still good without it. I've been beat by players who didn't play an IF til much, much later in the game. Its just insane when they Turn 1 Coin+IF followed by IF. Yeah, no point in playing then!
I do think if a nerf does end up needing to happen, they should target IF with a +1 to mana cost. The spell is clearly problematic and I'd hate to go into the Alterac Valley (pls blizz) expansion later this year with it still being the bread and butter of the class. Then when it rotates in March/April of next year, do not unnerf it. Wild players don't deserve to fight against that forever.
That's some pretty slick building! Where's the Hearthstone lego at to combine your previous passion with your new one? :D
Lego is awesome. A few years back I purchased some of the lego trains stuff since it was a childhood dream to have one of them. Being a member of the lego club and getting the magazine every month or two, those damn trains always taunted me. Relegated to a plastic bin because I don't have a dedicated space for them post building, I hope one day I can setup a dedicated room to build out a city, another dream.
Its such a relaxing activity building sets or creating your own stuff with the mix of pieces collected over the years, so congrats on revisiting the hobby!
I got busy with site stuff and made it to level 70. Also, Battlegrounds isn't great for farming experience so the Hearthstone that I did play last expansion, minus the first week, didn't amount to much in the rewards track.
Imagine running a Hearthstone site and not reaching level 100. OMEGALUL
I think this went over pretty positively so I hope we can have a chance to do this again next season. Little worried about how many entries we'll have to go through, but it is worth it.
I really enjoyed the creative combo you setup and if Brightwing does end up generating Bolner on that small slice of the RNG pie, easiest rewards track XP! I hope someone ends up making a video of it in action for the sake of hilarity.
It sounds like this might be a client performance thing. If you clicked on something while something else was executing to change the mode, a fragment of the other mode may have been interrupted and left in place (in this case duels stuff). Rare to happen, but definitely an issue that will need to be solved. Thanks for the report.
G'day! We've got some United in Stormwind mega pack bundles to give out courtesy of Blizzard. We're going to be doing something a little bit different this time around that involved deckbuilding with the new cards.
We are giving away THREE Mega Bundles in total in this giveaway.
How to Enter the Stormwind Deckbuilding Giveaway
Create a Hearthstone deck on Out of Cards via our deckbuilder and save it to the site.
Your deck must contain some United in Stormwind cards.
Your deck must have 30 cards in it.
Your deck may be for the Standard or Wild formats.
Your deck may be for any of Hearthstone's 10 classes.
The name of your deck must be descriptive of the archetype.
Your deck must have the "Theorycraft" tag.
You may use an existing deck you have created on the site for United in Stormwind.
Write, at a minimum, a 2 paragraph guide (170-200 words total) to teach players how to play your theorycrafted deck.
Your guide is written after your deck gets saved from the deckbuilder. Click on the "Edit Guide" button on your deck page.
Guide plagiarism is grounds for disqualification.
Try to talk about the new cards and how they work with the archetype.
Embed your saved deck as a reply to this thread using the "BBCode" found above the deck list.
How Winners Will be Chosen
One bundle will be given away to a deck guide author as chosen by Out of Cards staff.
We will be judging the guides and picking the "best" one to receive the bundle.
We're ultimately going to pick a guide that does its best to educate the community on their theorycraft deck.
Formatting will be considered, so make use of headings, horizontal rules, and other available options where it makes sense.
Tips: Do not change the default font sizes or fonts. Do not bold your entire text. Do not use text colors (card bbcode is okay though!). Link cards using card bbcode.
Two bundles will be given away randomly to two deck guide authors (one bundle each).
All respondents to this thread that follow the above rules will have their name entered once into a list.
The list will be inserted into random.org and we will have the site pick two winners for us.
The number of upvotes on your deck do not matter, though we do encourage participants to find decks they like from other community members and give them some appreciation using the upvote function.
If we find anyone abusing the downvote mechanic on decks, you will be disqualified.
Staff are unable to win the bundle that is chosen by staff members.
How Winners Will be Contacted
We will be contacting winners via private message on Out of Cards.
The competition entry period ends on August 2 at 9 AM Eastern.
We expect to post the winners list in a news article, and private message the winners, by 11 AM Eastern on August 2.
To add onto that, most of the content that folks consume for new expansions is Standard so it makes sense to focus on it heavily.
That's not to say we shouldn't put out wild content, because its also important, but the "main" game for most players that are still playing constructed is going to be standard so its easier to talk with a larger audience.
There are plans to get these onto the portal pages as well. The site doesn't currently support placing this kind of content on portals though which is why we haven't done it yet.
The countdown also needs a rework in being made "game aware". Countdowns currently can't have a game attached to them so the site doesn't know where they are allowed to be. This is also something I'm hoping to have added because it would be incredibly useful.
I should add - I still want to do both of these events. I think if we can do something for Stormwind around the mini-set it could be fun. It may even be a better idea to do it that way going forward because it makes the whole reveal area less chaotic. At that point we also have full knowledge of the expansion which can lead to potentially better content within the event.
You are most welcome =)

Let everyone that wants to talk about it talk but don't make anyone feel like they have to talk. Respect the choice!

Good luck to everyone! We'll also be spotlighting as many decks as it makes sense to inside our United in Stormwind Survival Guide.
Once again, thank you to Blizzard for providing the prizes for this giveaway.
Yeah, Sule left us some gems in this one :D
