I wasn't on the wait and see train, having analyzed the data, made graphs and determined that at least for me, the new system was bad.
But everything else in your post mirrors my own thoughts/approach also. Saving these packs plus my end of season packs and classic packs for the right time is the best strategy for most if you want to spend less gold. It does feel bad sitting on them though :)
Excellent changes. Yes there are a few small things I would like to be changed also but I don't want to sound like I am complaining so won't mention them here. Overall a very much needed and welcomed piece of news.
Been posting graphs and my thoughts on reddit with hopefully what was a calm analytical quality. Never really bothered with reddit before this.
Looking forward to having a look at the data mined info Flux helpfully provides us.
You're welcome my friend - and thanks for your kind words. And I agree.
Many of us are so invested in the game, financially and emotionally that we can have strong feelings about changes to the game - especially if promises made were broken.
Nonetheless, I agree any backlash should strive to be as reasonable and constructive as possible. I've made a few posts tinged with sarcasm, but hopefully most of the things I've posted here and on reddit would qualify as analytical and reasonable. That's for others to judge I guess :)
I've been posting concerns both here and reddit (which I never used to post on before this debacle) since day 1 of rewards tracks release. Analysis, graphs and XP per hour calculations.
But whatever you think about the new rewards system and whatever the maths say, Hearthstone just doesn't feel as good as it used to.
Grinding for XP often with no feeling of progress some days, not even 10g for 3 wins (not that it was super good but it was something), no quest completion in Tavern Brawls and so much else - including broken promises (play your way/same gold for same effort).
I used to find it a fun, warm place to spend downtime. No longer. I've already given up my NA and Asia accounts. I hope they make changes to make the game feel good again or my remaining EU account will have to go to and I'd prefer the game too still be good and keep playing.
Let's hope they address these player concerns. Hearthstone is a great game and I'd like it to remain that way.
They know how many quests you've completed, and how many you currently have etc.
So with access to the user databases, not to hard to run a script against it to flag the accounts that missed quests and the number of them. They may or may not also run checks - e.g. against the daily logins of each account to ensure the script doesn't flag accounts that missed quests but actually didn't log in for say, 5 days and why one was legitimately missed (as an example).
Or just different metrics depending on the data they have.
Played a similar odd pally deck just to complete the 100 divine shield dudes achievement. Then realized it was worth about 21 gold in total (700XP) and decided maybe let any others happen naturally :)
Blizzard indicate the are going to replace the last 6 packs with a total of 1350 gold. Though I still maintain even level 50 is less gold than just quests in the old system (now 5,550g vs 7,260g), and for far more effort.

Yep.
It's a shame because after you get your first win, there's very little to recommend it.
Seems an unnecessary change that kinda kills the mode.
Hopefully they will have a change of heart and bring back quest completion and gold for wins even.
Unfortunate timing for this card back flavor text.
This made me laugh :)
Ideally Team 5 would fix the client so it didn't sometimes show (as has happened to me) for players it doesn't apply to.
Thanks for this - used it to win first game.
Opponent greeted me, I greeted back, and then they threatened me. After squelching them, I proceeded to wreck them. Felt good!
What are you talking about? That's worth 18 gold!!!!! GOLD!!!!!!!!
You could almost get a common you already have 2 of for that! Or 12% of an arena run!
In this new era of fantastic rewards that's pretty generous!

Are you picking up the bundle?
Nope.
YAY!!!!! :P

I've been highly critical of Blizzard/Team 5 for the last week.
But to be fair, one of the promises they actually kept was this expansion's theme:
Madness.....
(don't leave me hanging)
I packed that one too - I was thinking about it - what deck you playing? Don't mind if it's not great if it's fun!
Great to get a window into the wild meta.

Sorry can't watch - have to grind. Need that 1/10th of next level however long it takes!!
Same here - relog and should be back.

Ah posted in separate news item now - good stuff.
Yep - no freebies. The legendary you normally get was already on the rewards track. And packs I suppose were the duels quest packs,
