edit: Blizzard indicate the are going to replace the last 6 packs with a total of 1350 gold. This means these graphs are not currently accurate. Though I still maintain even level 50 is less gold than just quests in the old system (now 5,450g vs 7260g), and for far more effort.
One of the causes for confusion when people are assessing the new rewards track system, is that it's not clear how much gold XP is worth.
This is complicated by the fact that it changes depending on what level you've reached.
If you finish at level 50, your 192,200XP equated to 21.85 Gold per 1000XP.
This is in contrast to the early levels which go as high as 78.43 Gold per 1000XP, or level 100 which nears 30 Gold per 1000XP.
I only went to level 100, because quite frankly, unless you are example 1 in Celestation's 2 examples from his twitter post, and play 5 hours each and every day (i.e. a third of your waking life), the vast majority of people will get no where near level 100 let alone level 150 unless changes are made.
edit: gold reward graph scaled by XP, marking levels 25,50,75.
gold per 1000 XP where the XP of non gold reward levels is accumulated until gold is rewarded for an average:
I assume therefore that when duels heroic is launched, we can have active runs left at 2 losses for both arena and duels heroic, and when each rotates we get a free pack.
and it remains to be seen if we will still be given the customary free legendary on expansion launch. If not, the free legendary on the rewards track is not extra but rather instead of. Perhaps that detail has already been announced and I missed it (more than possible).
Though it's good he's engaging with the community feedback, I am somewhat dismayed at his 2 examples.
5 hours - nearly a third of our waking life playing Hearthstone every single day without fail? Streamers maybe, or people running bots.
Even 1 hour per day is more than many people play, whereas before they could simply play 3/6 games win or lose in casual every 2 or 3 days and net over 7200g and rank/arena/bg if/when they wished as time permitted.
This is directly counter to what was promised. Hopefully it will be addressed especially as the game became a lot more expensive due to 3 extra mini-expacs a year.
I am one of the players who complains that it's significantly less gold, for more effort, despite a clear assurance this would not be the case. In point of fact I felt I had to retire my NA and Asia accounts that would easily garner 7260g for little effort that now will not but playing on them would hurt my main EU account.
And this alongside a time when the game is not only made more expensive with 3 extra mini-expacs a year, but you'll need to buy packs at a time one would typically be saving up (our now reduced) gold for the next expansion.
Additionally it may be the 800XP quests are weighted. Certainly my first 3 were all 800XP. That might just be unlucky - this will be clearer over time.
Lots of nice things they've added to the game, but this feels bad. Let's hope they do indeed twiddle the knobs at the backend to resolve.
Agreed on all your points. I've said this before, but I am somewhat displeased that when initial concerns were raised by the community about the new system a few months ago we were given these reassuring promises:
Assuming you play the same amount and have the same quest completion rate, you shouldn't earn less gold or non-gold in the new system. In nearly all circumstances you should be earning slightly more gold and more non-gold (packs, etc).
Quests give you experience, which helps you level up. Leveling up gives you rewards, most of which is gold. Gold gains should be roughly the same amount of 'immediate' in the new system as in the old system.
On my 3 accounts just playing 3 games where it didn't matter win or lose in casual every few days was enough to net over 7200g on each. Now I'll have to put all my time into just 1 account, retire the other 2, and even then I'll need to get to level 70 to get a similar amount of gold. This is because even if you put in the work to get to level 50 it's only worth 4200g.
Even if I can manage that and endure the new grinding feel of the game, somehow I have to fund more packs for the mini-expac when I should be saving for the next full expansion. 3 times a year.
New system is less generous and at the same time game has been made significantly more expensive. Don't be fooled by the initial wave of easy rewards - it doesn't last.

4200 gold doesn't equal 7200 gold (120 * 60) let alone "slightly more". And I didn't even factor the win 3 game gold bonus we've lost now nor play a friend trading.
And definitely not with the same level of play as before (i.e. play 3 games win or lose each day or every few days).
Am I missing something? Are we expected to get to level 70 and this be considered the same amount of play as we needed for 7200 gold before?
In terms of the XP rewarding achievements for classes I doubt I'll have much chance anyway as most of them require expensive legendaries/epics to complete them anyway I won't have.
Couldn't they have made the achievements fun and budget friendly? Maybe there's a chance with Whizzbang in Wild if casual is valid for the achievements.
We were promised we wouldn't be worse off in terms of gold.
Unless you are going to play hours and hours every day to get well beyond level 50, I don't see how we're not going to be (outside of infinite arena etc).
Oh, and just noticed the last 5 normal levels are 43500 XP in total. The reward? 600 gold, 2 packs and a cosmetic I don't care about. That XP is going to take ALOT longer than the 10 days of gold reward quests it would have taken to get the 600g.
It's all fun and nice right now with a free legendary, new shiny packs and gold raining from the sky. Let's see how it feels in a few months when progress is slow and grindy for little reward. It's then you'll have to buy new packs for the mini-expac that's launched.
Also the front loaded easy gold we're quickly getting on the reward path right now could be considered as supposed to being for the expansion after this one if you save up for each expac.
It was easy to save 7-8K before just by playing a bit and completing the daily quests where it didn't matter much win or lose.
Now there's a big time investment needed to get much less gold reward. Oh, and there's a mini-expac to open even more packs for (alot of which will start giving you commons you already have way before you fill the rares let alone epics/legendaries).
I've made a note of my current account resources, and will see how things go. I have a concern that over time the game is going to get less viable for me as my saved gold and dust dwindle as I can't keep up. We shall see.
Oh you dont know whats still coming, keep those stars at hand, you will need em! :)
I have my stars on standby sinti. And I am not afraid to use them. Especially with some of the very quick, very helpful and well written articles that are hitting the site amid so much changes.
But will it be? We'll need to see how much XP is needed to get the available gold on the progression path, and how much for each additional level beyond it. Those might not be static either but scale heavily with each one. Kind of like level 1 to 2 is much easier than 49 to 50 in WoW.
Yeah would also have been helpful if I'd have titled the graph. Ah well live and learn.
Added 2 other graphs reddit people's asked me to make.

So using data from https://outof.cards/hearthstone/2200-the-rewards-track-how-long-to-get-to-level-50-644000-experience-required-to-get-to-level-150 I've charted the data - though I might be out by 1 level. This chart averages the value in gold of 1000XP based on what level you finish on the rewards track. Example:
If you finish at level 50, your 192,200XP equated to 21.85 Gold per 1000XP.

Solem and Old Guardians too

If it's not the 1 we would have gotten anyway I'll be surprised.

Specific Legendary cards.
At least bring Whizbang the Wonderful back to standard as an ever green card to make it possible if the achievements give XP.

OOC get's 5 stars overall.
This is one of the single most helpful articles of any Hearthstone site ever.
5 stars
Wow I got the Win 7 games of Ranked Play Mode for 2500 XP!!!!!!!!
What are the chances of that!!!!!
Oh, 100%
All 3 of mine were 800 :(
If 1000XP = 60g on average then yes.
