Sorry that this is happening to you, but the fact of the matter is that your opponent is not required to sit there until you pull off this or any combo. Same applies to if they know they are dead and can't win. That is why there is a Concede button. Stuff like this happens, like when I drop a charging 10/10 Death Beetle about to destroy my opponent with it for the achievement and then they leave before it connects. So what do I do when that stuff happens? I go to the next game.
You're completely correct, of course. I made this thread partly to vent my frustration, and partly as a PSA: sometimes, if you're willing to spend an extra few seconds in a game you're about to lose, you could be helping someone out.
There's something else worth noting, too, though. I've been in plenty of games where I was sure to lose and was about to concede and move on to the next one, then suddenly my opponent disconnects. Not a very satisfying win, but I'll take it.
If your opponent is about to pull off the Rivendare, Warrider combo, let them do it! I mean, sure, if they were a bad sport, spamming emotes or unnecessarily delaying the kill, then feel free to concede. But I'm trying to get the achievement, and people keep conceding literally seconds before I can do it. Just let me have this!
Here's what I understand: Goldshire Gnoll is now the only 11 cost minion in standard, so any time you evolve a 10 cost minion, you'll get this guaranteed. Is that right?
What is the Grey Sage Parrot nerf supposed to do? What 5 mana spell is being blocked here?
I like the Construct Quarter nerf. No opinion on the other 2, as I don't play wild.
I'd like to see the Grey Sage Parrot pay attention to how much was actually SPENT casting the spell. I hate it when my opponent uses Barbaric Sorceress, for example, to cast Rune of the Archmage for less then 5 mana, then repeat with a Parrot as if it actually cost 9.
Yeah, this confused me at first, too. However, I think this will be a much better system moving forward: putting it all in one place with a new link to that place every time there's a new reveal.
As someone who has actually played a lot of Mercenaries and mostly enjoyed it, I have mixed feelings about this. I recently maxed out every single Merc, so with my saved packs and coins, I'm sure to collect and max out the final 6 Mercs. I will be very satisfied to have this collection completed. I am also feeling really glad I never spent any real money on this mode. I imagine a lot of people who bought those pre-order bundles are steamed right now. If the boss rush mode is fun, I'll still play it now and then. I will miss having new bounties to explore.
Im not getting the either or situation though. Its xp and gems, not that I pay much attention to the gems anyway. Far as I know, you get both. Wouldn't make any sense to take one away and Im sure reddit would be in flames if xp is taken away.
Sometimes when games are too short you dont see the xp ticking. That's my only explanation as to why you dont see it.
Like I said, I actually checked my XP counter in between a bunch of games, and there were several games where I earned some gems and no XP. The more it happens, the angrier I'm getting. I don't know why other people aren't enraged about this. Imagine if they started awarding Mercenaries coins instead of rewards track XP after regular Hearthstone games? People who don't play Mercenaries (which I think is most people) would flip out!
Ok, so I started paying attention. After each game (any mode), you get EITHER gems for this event OR reward track XP. I am PISSED. They are essentially taking away my XP, which I want, and giving me event gems, which I DON'T.
EDIT: Sometimes you actually get both, but I definitely had a few games where I got ONLY some gems and not any XP. I checked my XP counter between each match.
I like that this one only offers BG rewards, so I can ignore it (I don't play BG at all).
Here's my question, though: I feel like during past events like this one, you get either gems or XP after a game. Is that correct? Has anyone paid more attention to this than I have? If this is the case, then it sucks that I'm being given gems I can't use instead of XP I can use.
Just a quick brag thread here (but also encouragement for my fellow Merc players). Yesterday I maxxed out Murloc Holmes, completing my collection of maxxed out mercenaries. I spent very little money on this mode (2 bundles early on, both in the $15 range), and just a lot of grinding. When the excess coin exchange arrived, I traded in for around 30,000 Renown. I now have about 1,000. Also have 73 packs saved up for future content drops.
There is hope my friends! Yes, there are major problems with this game mode (bots in the pit, diminishing returns on coins, no pity timer on legendaries, etc.). But if you have fun playing it, keep going! The grind may be a slog, but at one PvP win per day and daily tasking, you can obtain a full set of maxxed out mercenaries. And there are lots of fun, competitive squads to play. I regularly encounter comps I haven't seen before, and sometimes I try them out myself!
Just wanted to grab that easy pack so I went in with Patches and Embiggen. First game, all Patches, full mulligan, all Patches. Turns 1 and 2: drew Patches. Concede.
I agree that the mode has been pretty badly handled. However, I've still had a lot of fun playing it. I have spent very little money on it, but through grinding, I have collected every single Merc and have only 4 that are not maxxed out (plus I have 71 packs waiting for the next batch). The coin exchange system is definitely weighted against us, but considering that you can generate coins for free, without limit, through daily play, it's not as bad as I expected it would be. The main thing I wish they'd add is a pity timer for legendaries (BASE mercs, NOT skins).
Nice to see them doing the right thing here. I play Mercenaries quite a bit, and completed this event way back when, but I'm glad they've fixed this mistake for those who need it.
Wow, we talk a lot about high-rolling and low-rolling on this site: I only bought 2 tickets! Congrats to the other winners, and thanks to OutofCards for being so freaking awesome!
Brann Bronzebeard does NOT double Astalor's deal 2 damage or gain 5 armor abilities. I'm not sure about the deal 8 damage one. Working as intended?
Regarding the last one, if he does NOT double the manathirst damage, it would still be 24 damage total after he doubles the battlecry. Otherwise, it's 32. I died to this once, but wasn't able to count it up fast enough.
Yeah, I suppose. I just wasn't sure how many gems I'd gather that way. And to be honest, I always feel driven to complete things like quest chains. It's a compulsion, and I'm sure that's what they're counting on.

Yes! I just played 4 games in standard, 2 were against bots. How do I know?
-REALLY bad plays
-NO think time (including snap pick off Suspicious Peddler twice in one game)
-names were DireRaven and SilentStorm
-neither showed up in my "recent opponents" list

Thanks, that did the trick!
The only HS clue I haven't solved is from Week 3: You get a gem, etc.
I'd love a clue here. I don't play Snap but am a big Marvel, so I've been solving these easily. No idea on this one.
