His voiceline is about assembling mercenaries, so I doubt that he is one itself.

Battlegrounds is stil in beta because they are still changing core aspects of the game like the Darkmoon prizes or the variable health system they mentioned a while ago.

"Two new cards will replace Boar/Bluegill in Core, a Beast and a Murloc with Rush."

I also personally consider it to be one of the worst, because I just didn't got the feeling (maybe because I don't play WoW? Idk). But calling an Expansion trailer with 2 1.2 million views  (KotfT has 1.8 million currently) a flop is just objectively wrong.

I read most of that article. I can see why he says some people might prefer hearthstone.

But personally, the reasons people think LoR is boring and go back to Hearthstone are the same exact reasons I'll never go back to it - it's too simple, too much RNG, and player agency has far less value in HS than it does in LoR.

The author of that article gave those as reasons that people leave LoR - well those are the exact reasons I won't leave LoR.

So, I guess we have to let each player decide for themselves whether they want:

    1. More complexity and the ability to actually play the game the whole time you're playing, or only play half the time.
    2. Have actual player agency, where all of their choices affect the outcome of the game --- or just highroll the RNG and win (or get the RNG highrolled against them and lose.)
    3. Have a meaningful collection and a broad selection of viable, competitive decks to choose from, rather than maybe 4-6 meta decks at a time that are actually competitively viable.

Incidentally, it sounds to me like the original poster of this thread is in the "LoR is better" camp, at least for now.

I was actually refearing to the linked comments. But yeah, in the end it comes down to wether a player prioritizes the competetiv or fun factor of a game (even though I think you over exaggerated your examples).

I havn't played it, but it's completely free now without even the option to spend any money in the game. I see no reason why you shouldn't just download the game and see for yourself if you like it.

That sounds like a pretty common story actually. Long-time Hearthstone player comes and tries out Legends of Runeterra and they never go back to Hearthstone again

Funny, because I hear mostly the opposite of that where people are playing LoR for like a month, and then go back to HS because they find it more fun. I guess it depends on where you hear those opinions.

Maybe you should try LoR yourself before you decide which is more likely

I actually play the game every now and then, but those opinions are not just mine even though I agree with them.

I still remember the old days where you either payed OR grinded for ingame rewards, not both.

    Dual or Tri-classes

That would be an absolute disaster. The game is build from ground up with the Idea of each class being highly specialised in strengths and weakness, adding such a thing would completely destroy that Idea and would cause many balance issues since you could just nullify your class weakness.

    New card types

They already did this in the past with Hero cards and Iksar also mentioned that they experimented with an "Champion" type which would have a high ammount of health, a passive efffect and could not be hit with AOE or removel cards. So there is no reason to belive that they won't ever add a new minion type.

    Card quantity

would only cause more pack fillers, there are always going to be 2-5 meta decks no matter how many cards you have acces to (see wild)

neutral spells, weapons, or even hero cards

More types of neutral cards would only reduce the need for using class cards and thus make the decks more similiar to each other. Especially neutral hero cards would defeat the entire purpose of giving each class acces to class specific Hero powers.

make the game fresh in the future

I really don't think those changes are neccesary for that. Since 2017 the game got every year more fresh things than the year before that.

Quests, Hero cards, the first events and the Dungeon run mode in 2017,

2 improved dungeon run modes, the puzzle lab and the first ever expansion featuring an HS original character in 2018,

3 connected expansion, even more improved Dungeon run modes and the Battlegrounds mode in 2019,

the first ever new class, ranked rework, Priest rework, free decks for new/returning players, duplicate protection, econemy rework, and PvP dungeon runs in 2020,

And now we are getting the Mercenaries mode which is a really big deal for the devs, the rework of the basic set as a free, rotating core set, Spell types, Horde/Alliance themed year and more things they havn't announced yet

As I said, there is no reason to be worried about keeping HS fresh and exciting.

This one was super interesting as someone who has no Lore knowledge. Some of her HotS voicelines now make a lot more sense when you know that she was possessed by a deamon.

Past nerfs have shown that there is a gigantic difference between 8 and 9 mana. It doesn't seems unreasonable to think that it could see play.

I'm just glad that Savage Roar and Bloodlust are gone. It feels incredibly bad to take 20-30 damage in a single turn just because I couldn't clear my opponnents 5. board. Oh, and screw Kill Command. All of them are definetely part of my top 10 most hated cards in the game.

The Mark of the Wild explanation is probably still there to teach new players how buffs are worded in HS.

they already confirmed that the core set will come with the rotation

"When you log in after rotation, you’ll automatically be granted the new Core Set cards equal to your current level for each class!*"
