Mike Donais did a stream with his daughter Melodyserafina this weekend and answered some questions from the chat!
When asked 'Are the replacements for the Hall of Fame cards still on track?' he replied 'Yeah very soon, couple weeks maybe'.
There were several other intriguing responses during this 3.5h long stream that gave us some new info (in no particular order with clips):
- The boss Haro Setting-Sun from Dalaran Heist got a nerf last week, and will be getting another this week. (source)
- They would love to do at least one Heist hero as a playable character. (source)
- They actively look at win rates of bosses and adjust them accordingly. (source)
- They tried an 'infinite' mode for Dalaran Heist, but decided to leave people wanting to play more runs rather than getting bored with one. (source)
- Boomsday buffs went really well, but they like to mix things up so they want try some different approaches. (source)
- Mike tells us the trailer for the next expansion is his favourite so far and hint's it's related to his 'favourite type of stuff' (LoE). (source)
- Each expansion will have it's own 'awesome greatness' and loosely follow the story of Rafaam. (source)
- They want to go light on Hero Cards for a while, but 'maybe one'. (source)
- A couple Classic legendary entrance animations could be 'spiced up'. (source)
- We could see more 'no duplicates' build-around cards for other classes in the future. (source)
- Mike thinks a random hero option is a good idea. (source)
- They are still keeping an eye on Big Priest in Wild. (source)
- His favourite sets are Journey to Un'Goro and League of Explorers. (source)
- They are working on more cosmetics and open to fresh ideas. (source)
- They want to improve deck sharing and make it more social. (source)
- Ben Brode was a professional rock-paper-scissors player. (source)
- Heroic Kara Stamper will also be nerfed, removing DOOM!. (source)
- They are Canadian. (source)

What sort of new Classic cards are you hoping to see?
Comments
Wow, that was really soon!
I forget what cards need to get replaced. Did they sort out Pally and Warlock yet?
keeping an eye on big priest ....
It would be about time they buff the basic priest cards, so they don't have to release OP cards every expansion just to make the class viable.
In the last expansion Priest didn't get OP cards and look what happened. From high tier to trash tier just like that after the rotation.
If they can make cards like Millhouse Manastorm or Gruul playable that would be great.
For example;
Millhouse Manastorm - 1 mana, Battlecry: The first enemy spell costs two less next turn. (Still balances out with Huffer and such)
Gruul - 7 mana, Stealth for one turn
do you really want them to make a 1 mana 4/4 that can save your opponent 2 mana at most for just one turn? that would be broken. but I would love to see them make millhouse or lorewalker cho viable. I want to play them soo much but I can't because these cards are just so bad. its not that they don't help your deck, but they actively destroy you. they really need to be re-worked
Not that much really. It could have been killed by many reduced cost spells.
I hope next expansion is as good as this current one, it's the most fun I've had and have consistently played everyday. I like how they added snipsnap and buffed cards half way through and would like to see balance changes like this in the future to help change it up mid expansions again.
Also I like the idea of more cosmetics in shop but £10 is too much for a hero portrait, I really want Allera but could never justify paying that much. Maybe £5 and I would do it 🤔
Best part was that the game bugged out (invisible card bug) within like the first ten minutes of them playing the game lol
They really seem to try to spice up the Meta in between the Expansion! Thats great news for everybody who love this game and wants it to continue as long as possible!
Just want to say thank you for fantastic content like this. Write ups like this is what sets you apart from a lot of other outlets.
Thank you for fantastic comments like this :) Props to Frosty for finding a lot of the interesting clips.
What? is that even a thing? do people get payed to play rock-paper-scissors?
You have never watched the movie 'Vegas Vacation' ? Off the strip has some amazing games!
Whizbang!!!!
"They are still keeping an eye on Big Priest in Wild."
What more do you need to see? The deck has been prominent in Wild for over a year now and is still refusing to go away. It is one of the most, if not, THE most annoying deck to go up against. ROS gave them a couple of new cards to be better. What is there else to see? At this point, you are just making a meme out of it now and we can't take it seriously anymore. What cards get nerfed remains to be seen. But it needs to be touched somehow.
While I know that Big Priest has plenty of aggro/midrange counters & even some control counters if you play a deck smart when using transform effects I can't help but think that even if something like Big Priest got a nerf (such as nerfing Barnes) that Vargoth will simply replace the 4 mana minion the priest tries to hard mulligan into. Sure Vargoth presents much less of a early to midgame high roll it does present a larger late game swing than Barnes ever could. Mass res into a double cast from a rezed Vargoth is devastating for almost all slow control classes outside of warlock & warrior.
As for what classic cards I expect to see I anticipate some more lame completely rng-based cards. Nothing too special there.
Can I get some troll hero action? Specifically Hooktusk
I think Blizzard have to make "Hall of Honor" (maybe different name)where could be placed cards from old expansions and they become playable for standart. There is a lot of perfect cards from ols exp-ons that deserve to become classic.Hearthstone is evolving, but main must-play cards are pretty old-fashioned.
I would definitely love having Reno Jackson back into Classic.
He not only enables a full-flavoured set of decks, but might put some pressure on the current decks consisting on a lot of 2x cards and built around certain class legendaries.
