We've got two card nerfs arriving this week and they're both to Legendary minions!
- Kael'thas Sunstrider now changes the third spell cast to cost (1) (Up from 0)
- Mindrender Illucia now costs 3 (Up from 2)
Here is what the cards will look like after the update. We do not have an exact time the update will be taking place.
This is the second set of nerfs during the Scholomance Academy expansion with last week bringing us a nerf to the Discover keyword.
How do you feel about the upcoming changes? Let us know in the comments below!

Glad they fixed the real problem with Kael'thas instead of nerfing his cost. As for Illucia, I think I'll try Odd Priest again :)
Glitter Moth OP!!!
told ya
Hope that problem with Kael'thas Sunstrider will be somewhat resolved.
Mindrender Illucia nerf is ok, he's worse against aggro but still kept her ability to disrupted combo. I play her in Wild in my Reno Priest and he's very good there.
That Kael'thas Sunstrider is probably long overdue.
I'm just glad that the Change to Mindrender Illucia isn't too harsh. The Card will be weaker against Aggro, but, as long as I can disrupt Combos efficiently, I have absolutely no Problem with that.
I think it was just way too efficient at what it did, especially when it came down to holding onto win conditions. Also, Galakrond Priest can reduce her cost back down with Fate Weaver so it's not too bad either way
It's at least too good against Aggro rn. T2, play this, steal a Druid's Lightning Bloom, puke your Hand on the Board, give them some useless 5+ Mana AoEs, and leave them with Nothing after all that is just way too crippling.
I mean, I fucking love it, but admittedly, it's quite unfun to lose the Game just because someone played a specific Card on Turn 2.
The only good thing about this nerf is that i'll be able to craft this priest legendary and play with the deck a little bit and still get my dust back after getting bored of it. Druid is the only decent deck i have at the moment, which is not going too well anymore and it's going to be even worse later. This has been the worse expansion for me since a very long time...
why though? Druid will still be playable, just not as...crazy. The class still has access to massive ramp and 4 different 0-mana spells. All this really prevents is Druid's winning the game when they reach 7-mana (at turn 4)
I played a few Priests games to test new decks ... just once I used Mindrender Illucia and it was a disaster :)
I had on the board a Sethekk Veilweaver ... but I realized that just after I played all the spells of my opponent hand ... giving him back all of them with a very powerful hand :)
Hey look, it's the Kael'thas nerf everyone expected the first time around. When will they learn that reducing big cards to 0-mana is never going to be balanced? First Alex, then Galakrond, and now this.
I wonder if Druid goes straight to the dumpster because of this. Kael'thas was pretty important in regards to getting out Survival of the Fittest. I guess he will still be run but he'll be less consistent? Druid does after all still run both Innervate and Lightning Bloom
Haven't really played against many Priests but I assume the Illucia change is more than warranted seeing how a lot of deck run quite a few high-impact 8-cost cards.
Also, I'm immensly confused how the Southsea Strongarm thing was a bug? Like...how does a bug change card art?
I played a ton of druid this weekend, they'll be fine with this nerf.
Druid's got plenty of spells that are free that give mana, and they're academic book that makes the next spell played cost 1 less has synergy with his effect, since he'll reduce the cost of spells to one, but not less than one.
it's true that you won't be able to cheat out Kael on 3 and play overflow to refill your hand but honestly that rarely happens anyway
Wouldn't be surprised to see Illucia get hit one more time, but at least now she's a bit worse against aggro.
