Blizzard has pushed out a hotfix to realms which removed the ability for Ysera, Unleashed to create Nozdormu.
With such a unique, targeted hit to the card, one must wonder if Nozdormu's days in Standard are limited. Especially considering that Blizzard just over week ago was talking about their plans of rebuilding the Classic and Basic sets. Although Nozdormu is beloved by many for the flavor aspect of the card, it has never really been a competitive staple so relegating it to the Wild format wouldn't have any big changes to the game.
What do you think about the change?
Quote From cmdylux Hey everyone,
We’re currently deploying a hotfix (18.0.3) that includes the following:
- Nozdormu can no longer be summoned from Dream Portals created by Ysera, Unleashed.
- Fixed a Battlegrounds bug where Nat Pagle, Extreme Angler could cause combat to have different outcomes from each player's perspective.
These changes will take place on the server side, so you won’t need to download anything if you’ve already updated to 18.0.

Nozdormu from portals was always like the worst feels moment, because of how much time those portal animations take...
I was thinking this has to be the main reason. You pull him first, then 4-5 more portals, your turn might be over!
You can say that, for now ofc, Nozdormu's time is over lol
I know, bad pun
Damn, I wish I had of thought of that one, HentaiLover.
I saw "Nozdormu Hotfix" and assumed this would be removing the stacking of the sand particle effect for multiple Noz on the board. Some streamers have been using it with the Tortollan Primalist / Potion of Illusion combo to summon 7 Nozdormu and almost completely obscure the screen. It's not actually a good tactic to win, but I can see why they wouldn't want it getting out of hand.
Ah, a SECOND druid nerf in the SAME WEEK!
I'm not too upset tho, while Nozdormu's helped me win some late games he's also screwed me over a game or two as well, especially when my opponent makes some interactions that last longer than the rope, that cuts in on my time.
Is this really a nerf though? Not sure it is a buff either, more like a non-event. Although I don’t these type of targeted change, it seems like a hack solution.
you're right, it's not really a nerf, but I was trying to be funny.
Guess my downvote says it was a bad joke
Nozdormu should've been reworked long ago to a completely different mechanic.
The 5 Dragon Aspects must stay together, and I don't like this selective kind of hotfixes because of a problematic mechanic.
Change the effect to something else instead of trying to avoid the card...
I'd have no issues with them moving him to Wild and replacing him with a different Nozdormu card, but to actually rework it would be a mistake imo.
Yes, he has always been broken in one way or another: most often his mechanic just doesn't quite work properly, and occasionally it gets abused for some unfair nonsense. But, when you really look at it he has always been just 1 of many possible routes to uninteractive win conditions or crazy RNG outcomes.
It is better to keep such an iconic card around than to delete it completely for less serious crimes than other cards commit.
I have a hunch this is temporary before they make a permanent change to Noz.
What kind of change could they make to Nozdormu, though?
He doesn't see constructed or tournament play, nerfing him seems like overkill
His mechanic just doesn't work anywhere, considering that in the past it even broke the game (like killing Nozdormu resets the turn timer..).
They could change his effect to something different entirely, something better and less problematic.
Couldn't agree more!
Ah, yes. Another year, another Nozdormu bug fixes.
