As announced last week, Twitch Drops have returned to give you two free Scholomance Academy drops for tuning into Hearthstone today! This is to celebrate today's Hearthstone Inn-vitational.
Drops are live until this post is 10 hours old!
Begins at 9 AM Pacific and ends at 7 PM Pacific.
Note that the inn-vitational itself doesn't begin for another hour (10 AM Pacific) and that watching it is not required for the packs. You simply need to watch any Hearthstone stream with drops enabled.
Earning Free Scholomance Academy Packs
- This starts and ends on August 25. (9 AM PT - 7 PM PT)
- Watch 2 hours of Hearthstone on Twitch to earn 1 Scholomance Academy pack.
- Watch 4 hours of Hearthstone on Twitch to earn another Scholomance Academy pack.
- You must link your Twitch and Battle.net accounts.
If you're interested, you'll want to login to your Twitch account, go to settings, and then connect your Battle.net account. Remember that drops are only active on Hearthstone streams that have the drops indicator below the player. We'll also remind you closer to the event. If you want to learn more about the event, read on!
Quote From Blizzard Ready your wands, the Scholomance Inn-vitational is upon us! Taking place on August 25, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. PT, the Scholomance Inn-vitational will split 20 Hearthstone personalities into 10 teams of 2 players, each representing a Dual-Class pairing! $100,000 in prizing is on the line, along with the bragging rights that come with being the Scholomance Inn-vitational champions!
How it works:
- Each team will prepare four decks using cards from their Dual-Class pairing and at least 10 Scholomance Academy cards overall.
- Each player will independently play through 4 rounds of best-of-three matches, with each game victory awarding their team 1 point.
- If both players on a team win their match with a 2-0 game score, that team will earn an additional 2 points.
- The final team placements and respective prizing will be determined by the total team point score after all 4 rounds have been completed.
All participants will stream their own perspective of the competition on their own channels from the comfort of their home, with the official Hearthstone Twitch and YouTube channels providing match commentary and big-picture updates. Casting will be the wizards themselves—Frodan and Sottle!
The Scholomance Inn-vitational will also be broadcast in Russian, Turkish, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish (LatAm)!
Twitch Drops
We're kicking off the Scholomance Inn-vitational with Twitch Drops! On August 25 from 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. PT, watch 2 total hours of any Hearthstone stream on Twitch to get 1 Scholomance Academy card pack. Watch for 4 hours (consecutive or non-consecutive) to get another one! Watch time accumulates across the entire Hearthstone category, so long as your Battle.net and Twitch accounts are linked.
Link Your Accounts
Before you can receive awards, you'll need to link your Twitch.tv and Battle.net accounts. Here's how:
- Log in or create an account on Twitch.tv.
- Navigate to the Settings menu by clicking your account name in the top-right corner of the home screen.
- Navigate to the Connections tab of the Settings menu.
- Find the Battle.net section, then follow the instructions after selecting a region and clicking Connect.
- When connecting accounts, be sure that you're currently logged into the Battle.net account on which you'd like to receive your rewards.

Took me 6 hours to get my second pack, ugh. I feel the required time isn't accurate.
Thanks for the reminder - I'd totally forgotten!
Got my 2 packs! can't wait to see if I got any epics or legendaries I'm missing !
Are there any special requirements for the drops to be active? I've heard it doesn't count while muted, is that true? Does keeping the tab minimised also cancel it?
Yeh I need to know this too. I had the page minimised and haven't received any packs :'(
Some time ago it worked like this (im not 100% sure if it's still same):
- if you have a tab opened, and muted stream in Twitch Player (!) - your stream might stop playing after some time, therefore - you would not get packs;
- HOWEVER... if you set whatever volume in Twitch Player (above muted !), stream playing... Now if you use Chrome - right click Twitch tab and "mute tab". This way you can even minimize the Chrome browser and it's still playing in the background, Twitch thinks you actively watch it, you get packs :)
The 2nd option is how I do it, works for me :) this way you can do whatever on your PC. Twitch tab does not even need to be the "active" (actually chosen) tab.
I have it open in its own window, muted and on 160p, and I’ve gotten one pack so far
I've gotten a pack already just by having twitch open on another tab, and it's muted since I'm at work.
it's not minimized but I'm not actively on that tab, either.
Go go school of beasts!
yeah I'm camping out on Regis' channel. I'm not going to be actively watching cuz I'm at work but I like his friendly demeanor
