A small patch dropped late yesterday, bringing a host of welcome adjustments. Unfortunately, certain bugs still remain not squashed, and a new one that is potentially game-breaking for Duels might have been introduced.
We have not yet had any official word on some of these problems, while others wait to be dealt with. If you do encounter any of these, make sure to report them to the developers if you haven't yet via the official forums. It can be very frustrating to deal with, but more voices help with visibility. Here are the current known issues in Patch 19.4.1:
- Duels runs that aren't giving any rewards and it might remember your previous record for matchmaking purposes. (Source) (Source) (Source)
- Duels runs are ending prematurely. (Source)
- Deathstrider in Duels still reported as freezing or crashing games occasionally. (Source)
- Scrapmetal Demolitionist has a visual bug not showing gained updates correctly. (Source)
- Mr. Bigglesworth's hero power in Battlegrounds is not working as intended. (Source)
- The bug in Battlegrounds which ends the game before last combat still exists. (Source)
- Some iOS users are freezing upon loading Hearthstone. Reinstalling appears to fix the issue. (Source)
This should not be possible, Blizzard! Thanks to Kwee on the TeamAmerica's Discord for the image.

My today's time estimate for Duel was ranging from 2sec to 5 min, and after roughly 3-4 minutes of queue ... client crashed
Another known issue: I was just OTK’d by a Mozaki Mage on turn 8 where he drew his entire deck and dealt 40+ damage to me.
definitely not healthy
Was Hysteria supposed to give full dust refund? I was under the impression it was a nerf?
I wouldn't dust a rare anyway but just feels like a bug.
Edit: When I originally wrote this post it was several hours after the patch and I had the game client open. Hysteria was only offering 20 dust to d/e and it didn't have the red writing saying this card had been changed recently. Now it is so no bug I suppose. I still didn't opening message on opening the client like it usually does for card changes though.
It never alerted me of the nerf like usual, but the card was/is disenchantable for full value (looking on PC)
That's why it's supposed to give you all the dust back, as the card was fundamentally changed.
It looks like iOS is still on the old version. I checked the App Store, and there wasn't an update. Maaaybe the freezing bug will be fixed when the actual 19.4.1 patch hits the App Store.
I understand duels is still in beta and needs some TLC to be brought up to snuff, but bugs like the one in the screenshot where your opponent is starting with 40 life and 2 treasures is utterly ridiculous and part of the reason there aren't many playing duels. They really need to buckle down and fix the glaring issues (balance problems can take a back seat to crashes, unintended matchmaking problems like the one above, and other more serious issues).
I don't normally "blizzard bash" cause I find it usually a waste of time, energy, and brain cells by any who indulge in it...but Duels has been out for quite awhile now. They really need to be focusing on getting the game mode out of beta at this point. Whomever is in charge of prioritizing things for Hearthstone needs a re-evaluation, or needs to be let go so someone better can fill their shoes.
It's probably the most serious bug to date, things like that weren't happening before this patch. I worry that with them pushing the patch late on Thursday it might go unchecked over the weekend. Definitely the last thing we need when Duels need all the support it could get.
It is not a good look for the development team, no doubt about it. It seems they are seriously undermanned, with Iksar mentioning the same people are responsible for Duels, Brawls, Book of Heroes, etc. The game mode could use its own devoted group to get it up to scratch.
I primarily play on mobile, and I have been having the iOS login issues for about a week. I haven’t been reinstalling the game each time, but I just come back to it when I can and usually it works again after a while. Very frustrating, especially because there aren’t other connectivity issues at our house.
Edit: I did report this on the official Blizzard forums.
Deathstrider didn't exactly crash but did cause a disconnect for me...
