"Discard deck" appeared in 2018 since Mecha'thun was printed.
Wild could provide shelter for this card. Hemet, Jungle Hunter and bang! Your deck is empty for this card to work. While Mecha'thun is a bit better as a win con for empty decks, it's still pretty good as a refill and an alternate win condition in case Mecha'thun is forcefully played.
It could be a strong alternative win condition in a control deck. It is fun to play but it will be horrible to play against, so I don't think it is meant to be a strong competitive card.
Imps, ropes, portals you want it? its yours my friend as long as you have enough mana.
Sorry link i cant give you a dark portal, come back when your deck is a little mmm- emptier.
Because it fills the board at the end of every turn that includes your opponent’s turn. Meaning every time you start your turn you are going to have at least six 3/2 imps (18 total damage) ready to attack.
If the old portal from the Un’goro quest was an every turn effect it would have been nuts! This one is also crazy, but with the disadvantage of having an empty deck.
So it honestly seems like the type of card that is more meme than competitive, but in the right meta/match ups it could also be a great win condition.
So Nether Portal but it fills BOARD EVERY turn. Dunno about it, looks like last chance win condition, but Chef Nomi is still in standard and nobody plays him. Also you have C'Thun, the Shattered as better win condition.
Edit: looks like it fills board at the end of YOUR turn, not EVERY turn. So usefulness of this card dropped to 2 stars max.
Nobody plays chef nomi because the enemy always clears it
The main difference between this and Chef Nomi is that this card guarantess you that you will have something to attack with at the start of the next turn. The C'thun comparison makes more sense, but that card struggles to finish off your opponent if he has a medium size board and it's only a one time burst while the portal remains for the rest of the game. So I wouldn't write this card completeley off.
Actually, I'm pretty sure you are less guaranteed to attack with a board than with Chef Nomi. It does get better over a couple of turns, but you want to finish them off quickly if you have an empty deck. Doing 18 damage isn't going to win you the game, and there's a good chance that they'll get cleared each turn anyway because they're only 2 health.
There is actually a 0% chance that his can happen(Well, except if your oponents has Ras Frostwhisper + Spelldamage, but let's just ignore that) because the Imps also spawn at the end of your oponents turn, meaning you can instantly deal 18 damage at the start of your turn no matter what. That's not enough for an "otk", but could definetely be a finisher, or even a win condition if you are playing against an really grindy control deck.
I saw video with this portal and it fill board at the end of YOUR turn so no 18 dmg at start of turn.
yeah, but noone could have guessed that before because the current wording says something else. I still belive that it's a better Nomie because of how easy it is to clear a board of 6/6 compared to an endless board of 3/2
Endless board matters if u can survive endless turns. It will be hard with empty deck.
Guess warlock's not only going to delete your deck in the next expansion, they're also going to delete their own deck.
Probably some kind of weird midrange zoolock that goes through their deck really quickly just to make this card work. But there's still significant hurdles for this to actually be viable;
- Warlock can no longer draw all their deck quickly as they can now because Expired Merchant is gone, so there's only 2 copies of Hand of Gul'dan
- If your deck is empty, you're practically on a timer which is usually not favorable to warlock because most of their cards damage heroes and there's only limited amounts of healing
- There are card burn synergy with Tickatus and Soul Rend, which can remove your deck quickly but ironically can also end up discarding this card.
Unless we see something that can refill your deck, stop you from drawing per turn, or something close to old Tracking or The Soularium, I doubt this card will be viable anytime soon.
Edit: Should've mentioned that miracle warlock is not entirely impossible. But I'll believe it when I see it.
If only Archivist Elysiana stayed in standard.
Yeah, unfortunate. If Im not mistaken, elysianna would be unnerfed back to 8 as well.
But probably don't really need it to be honest. Once the portal's up you're often 2 turns from winning unless your opponent is capable of freezing your board, and if they can then there's no space to play elysianna anyway.
Envoy Rustwix
Probably not going to make the cut even if this deck somehow gets to tier 1/2. Played early and you're now 3 cards away from emptying. Played at the late stages of the game, and its arguable that you don't really need it since you have a permanent board of six 3/2 imps.
You edited your original post. You mentioned, "if only there were cards that refilled your deck". And I just suggested Envoy Rustwix. There are also the Soul Fragment cards.
You edited it. So now, I look dumb one for suggesting something randomly when in fact it was you who didn't remember that there were cards that could refill your deck. You slimy dog.
For the record, I did not change any part of my text as you suggested I did.
I think you're referring to this line (bolded here):
"Unless we see something that can refill your deck, stop you from drawing per turn, or something close to old Tracking or The Soularium, I doubt this card will be viable anytime soon."
which still exist in my original post. So I don't know what you're talking about. If you mean my 'original' wording was only the words "If only there were cards that refilled your deck", that's just plainly false.
