Quote From Blizzard

The Fire Festival is back! This year, Ragnaros is throwing a house party in the Firelands. Everybody’s invited! The Fire Festival will last for three weeks, from July 6 at 10:00 AM PT to July 27 at 10:00 AM PT. Here are some of the activities you’ll be able to enjoy during that time, and some other fun stuff that’s on the horizon:

Legendary Quests

There will be 7 Legendary Fire Festival quests in addition to your normal daily quests. Complete one Legendary quest to unlock the next one! The first six quests will each reward you with a Year of the Phoenix pack, and the last quest will grant you a Druid of the Flame Malfurion Hero skin! These quests will only be granted until 10:00 AM PT on July 27, so don’t show up too late!

The Fire Festival Returns to its Roots!

Ragnaros' Fire Festival Tavern Brawl

July 7 – Ragnaros’ Fire Festival Tavern Brawl

Ragnaros has thought it over and decided that there’s nothing more Fire Festival than the Ragnaros’ Fire Festival tavern brawl. Construct a deck to face your opponent while Mini-Rag wreaks havoc on both players! You know, classic house party behavior. Feed Mini-Rag to charge up your emotes with festive fireworks!

Updated Burndown Brawl

July 14 – (Updated) Burndown Brawl

We’ve also updated the Burndown Brawl for a new take on another classic! This time, it’s The Duelist Burndown, and every deck borrows Treasures and a special Hero Power from Duels! Take control of a random deck and the loser of each game will be given their opponent’s deck for the next one. In the end, one deck will emerge as the most dominant of all!

More Fiery Looks with the Eternal Flame Bundle

Malfurion’s not the only one who has picked up a new look in the Firelands! The Eternal Flame Bundle offers the hot new Flamewalker Rexxar and Righteous Inferno Uther hero skins, as well as the Ragnaros card back and alternate Shaman hero! How handsome! The Eternal Flame Bundle will be available from July 6 to July 20, and is limited to one per account.

The Afterparty!

July 27 – The Party Continues with Battlegrounds Cosmetics!

Right after the Fire Festival ends, we’re moving the party over to Battlegrounds! The first-ever Battlegrounds cosmetics go live on July 27 with the Battlegrounds Bundle: Beach Party! The Beach Party includes beach party themed skins for seven different Battlegrounds heroes, as well as the Tikilord Ragnaros alternate Bartender. Tikilord Ragnaros includes a new portrait AND NEW VOICELINES FOR YOUR BATTLEGROUNDS BARTENDER! AMAZING!

Lots of Battlegrounds cosmetic Hero Portraits coming down the road!

Don’t let the party die! Or do. You can also pick up Battleground Heroes: Shadowlands for eight more Battlegrounds hero skins, based on Warcraft’s afterlife. Grab either set, or both, and personalize your Battlegrounds experience to whatever strikes your fancy.

Shadowlands Battlegrounds cosmetic skins are coming down the road as well.

Stay tuned for more Battlegrounds cosmetics, including more alternate Bartenders and more Hero skins, throughout the year!

Next Major Battlegrounds Update

Finally, looks aren’t the only thing being updated in Battlegrounds! In an upcoming content patch, Battlegrounds will get all-new heroes and undergo a major rework of all minion Types. We will be swapping out over 30 existing minions for new ones specifically designed to play off the core fantasy of that Type and re-emphasize how the Types play, giving the entire mode a massive refresh! For instance, Pirates will have a bigger emphasis on amassing Gold and treasure, with new cards like Briny Bootlegger and Nosy Looter.

Briny Bootlegger is a tier 3 pirate Battlegrounds minion with 4 attack and 4 health that reads at the end of your turn, if you have another pirate, add a gold coin to your hand. Briny Bootlegger tripled is an 8/8 that reads at the end of your turn, if you have another pirate, add 2 gold coins to your hand.

Nosy Looter is a tier 6 7 attack 6 health pirate Battlegrounds minion that reads every two turns, add a random Golden minion to your hand. Nosy Looter tripled is a 14/2 that reads at the start of your turn, add a random golden minion to your hand.

Keep an eye out for more about the changes that will be coming to Battlegrounds as we get closer to the launch.

  • Thanks god we now can buy Ragnaros hero and its cardback for 1500 gold, we only have to wait :D

  • As somebody who buys all the hero portraits, preparing for the day when Blizzard finally adds the "Random Hero" option, it's actually quite nice to see some released I won't have to buy, for once, since I don't play Battlegrounds.

  • This might be the first time I spend money on cosmetics. These look so good!

  • It seems like there has been a last minute change ...

The Ragnaros shaman hero was supposed to be the reward for the legendary quest-chain (for free), while the Eternal Flame bundle contained "flamish" skins for 3 classic heroes and a cardback.

I wonder if Blizzard changed their mind knowing that giving away an alternate hero of the importance of Ragnaros for free would make them not earn a large amount of money, since no one would pay a buck for another 3 pathetic skins of the basic heroes of always.

Anyway, they have clear priorities, always thinking about how to squeeze their customers to get as much money as possible...

    • Im not too sad about Malfurion instead of Rag, if that was even a change-up, since I have a lot of Shaman skins and like one for Druid, but Rag does look cool hot :)

    • this sounds so true! makes so much sense... damn tho I'd really want to get a Ragnaros hero instead.

    • Its just speculation on your part, which is fair. But if blizz would like to make money by monetizing one of the most iconic character in their games is also fair play to them. Like many others, I too would like that ragnaros skin for free (honestly, both Rexxar and Uther looks incredible sick, much more so than Malfurion) but you can't always expect nice things to be free.

Im more concerned on the price tag of the bundle, and whether I can afford it without busting my gut thanks to the incredible bs exchange rate.

Most likely not, as Ragnaros comes with cardback

    • Selling completely optional cosmetics is not "squeezing their customers." Please grow up.

    • ???

We get six packs and a Hero Skin for free. That seems like an odd way to "squeeze customers for as much money as possible" . . .

A better post would have been - "thanks for the free stuff Blizzard - I like that we get the option to buy some cosmetics, too! Hallelujah!"

    • They give us a new free hero skin and your complaint is that they’re greedy for not giving us a better hero skin?

Yes, corporations are greedy and profit-driven. There are a lot of things I’d change about the structure of the world today. But I’m fine with a free game giving us more free stuff and a completely optional cosmetic purchase. Somehow, I don’t feel “squeezed“ at all.

    • Before reading the details, I thought all 4 skins were gonna be sold. The fact that they're giving one for free is a welcomed surprise. They don't usually give away skins, so the fact they're giving us fiery-Malfurion is great for me.

Ragnaros for sure is the best of these skins, even if it really doesn't fit the Shaman fantasy, so it'll surely make a buck for Blizz, which is fine by me. They make new cosmetics, which fans have been asking for a long time, and charge for them. If it does well, maybe in the future we can move away from expensive pre-orders into a more cosmetic-focused economy for the game.

  • These skins are amazing! The Malfurion one is insane too. I was underwhelmed by the Lady Prestor pre-order skin, so this must be where they hid the good stuff!

  • Summer time is always the hardest time on my wallet when it comes to video games. It is funny because when I was younger I wouldn't be in school and would work full time and it would be the best time for my wallet.

  • That Uther hero skin it's lit!

  • That Rag skin... ITS SO GOOD. If it's not that expansive, then i might buy it. Bye Bye Morgl and Thunderking.

.. I REALLY hope Rag has some good emotes!

  • *Looks at Morgl*

Welp, goodbye forever! Instead of a stupid murloc whom I hate, I'm gonna have the best Shaman hero ever: Ragnaros!

Edit: Somewhat unfortunate that it is not a Ragnaros Warrior skin, so I could wield Sulfuras. I'll have to make do and play Ele Shaman.

Edit2: I don't want the beach skins; I just want TikiRag. Hope it's not too expensive.

    • I expect the BG heroes pack to be real cheap. They don't need emotes which cuts down on dev work and the fact that you can only use them occasionally due to the way BGs hero choice works, its a tough pitch to try and sell them even $5 a piece.

I bet that pack is going to be $20. They'll then do bundles of heroes for BGs going forward, thematic to events or expansions going on, never allowing individual purchases (though gold could be used at some point).

    • Sulfuras wielding Rag would have been so awesome. Maybe we'll still see it somehow in a highlight.
