finally, announcement of announcement. YEP
Its going to be the name reveal tomorrow, plus 6 cards, then announcing the card reveal schedule that will start next week :P
We've been here before. While there are some that prefer shorter reveal seasons, I prefer them 2 weeks at least. None of that 1 week rush like the last time please.
It is gonna be a fast and tight reveal season with the expac coming out on the 6th...
definitely not the 6th... when was the last time they released an expac on a Monday? ;)
it's most likely gonna be either the 7th or the 9th, with the latter being my bet
I just assumed it was going to be the 6th because that is win the current battlepass ends. I assume it would be on another day but Mercs has thrown the schedule off of everything.
Honestly, I am remiss that they didn't do a theme like they did with the League of EVIL. It went on for a whole year, there was synergy throughout all of the expansions including new abilities and takes on abilities, AND left room open of other things to be ventured into. WoW is a finite landscape. With that in mind, how much content can they continually push out in the long run with the WoW universe still held still?
WoW is only a semi-finite landscape. Not only is its own landscape growing with each of its own expansions, but HS has more or less complete freedom to explore alternate realities and/or expand tiny places or events into full expansions. Plus, only a small fraction of the landscape that existed back in 2014 has actually been explored so far in HS - we only just got to Stormwind and still haven't even touched Pandaria, for example - so they can keep going for a very long time.
The bigger question for me is how many paladins and demon hunters can they shoehorn into diverse expansions? Those two classes are so restrictive thematically, hence the murlocs in both I imagine :P
I don't think anyone would be annoyed to revisit places like Icecrown under a different theme.
Most areas aren't necessarily one and done, especially not after a period of 5+ years.
One night at Karazahn is a great example how endless the possibilities are.
I guess the theme was/is "first time playing WoW experience" accoarding to some Interviews. In addition to that they also introduced the Naaru Shard story in the Book of Mercenaries and also referenced it on some cards, the Deadmines trailer and the entire Mercenaries mode Story is build around it.
Personally I also think that Story wise the Year of the Dragon was better though. I guess it's because they used already established characters instead of creating new ones, which lead to more player engagement and speculation about the Story. It also took itself much less serious opposing to the current Story. Wether or not that's a good thing depents on the personal taste I suppose.
Gameplay wise however the current Story is much better. One thing the devs didn't like about the Year of the Dragon in retrospective was that you basically had no clue about the Story outside of Trailers and PvE modes. This year however the mercs (and what they are doing each expansion) can be seen on a variaty of cards in addition to the pve mode and trailers.
Announcement of an Announcement HYPE!
actually it's the first announcement for the card reveal before the expansion announcement.
It broke new ground.
Stoked! :O)
Let's go Frostwolves!
Was that the most epic guitar solo this game has seen in a trailer? Yeah, probably!
I'm making a prediction here: There will be multiple Hero Powers per Hero card, either upgradable ones, or you can pick one of 3 for each Hero when you play them.
Can’t wait to see what broken bullshit they can pump outthis time
Bring on the Hero Cards!
inb4 it's legendary Weapons
This!
All aboard the hype train
The song gives me Saviors of Uldum vibes.
