Four new Battlegrounds heroes (and their Hero Powers) have been discovered in the latest Hearthstone patch!
Brann Bronzebeard and his Hero Power, Battle Brand.
Harkening back to his original iteration, Brann rewards players who play a lot of Battlecry minions. That will mean carefully managing which minions you want to keep and which to rotate out to make room for more buffs. Unsurprisingly, he works well with the Tier 5 minion, Brann Bronzebeard!
Elise Starseeker and her Hero Power, Lead Explorer.
While it's unclear at this time what Tavern Tier Elise will be recruiting from, it is very likely to be from the Tier she just upgraded the Tavern to. This will put her in a solid position with other Heroes who like to rush up the ranks, like Bartendotron or Patchwerk.
Sir Finley Mrrgglton and his Hero Power, Power Up!
Another one relying on a revolving door of minions, Finley give more directed buffs than Brann at the cost of a coin. Early game summoner minions like Alley Cat and Murloc Tidehunter will be your friends here.
Sindragosa and her Hero Power, Stay Frosty.
Another unusual Hero Power, this time rewarding you for your patience. Do you take the guaranteed value of +1/+1 on what you can see, or do you gamble that what will be offered to you next time will suit your strategy better?
Now, why is Reno not journeying to the Tavern with his fellow Explorers? Mike Donais explained this on Reddit, alongside some design decisions on Battlegrounds heroes. He also gave some insight into previous versions of some of the heroes!
Quote From Mike Donais (On why Sindragosa has joined the League of Explorers)
Reno had design and visual effects issues so he was sent packing. (Source)
(On a fan idea for a new Battlegrounds Hero, Ahune. Hero Power: (0) - Freeze a Minion)
Cool design, this was actually Sindragosa's hero power for a while in early playtesting, it changed about 6 times before we finally found the one that comes out next week. (Source)
(On why Sindragosa is being introduced in the next patch, when she appeared in the Tutorial)
Several reasons.
She has kind of a strange hero power, you have to understand the freezing mechanic to understand her well. Better after launch so people understand freezing better.
We wanted some heroes 2 weeks after release to mix things up.
We wanted some heroes we could swap in using a server side patch so that we could swap out the most powerful or broken heroes at the same time. This lets us do a faster adjustment to balance since we can't change heroes abilities with a server side patch.

(On a fan idea for a new Battlgrounds Hero, The Darkness. Hero Power: Passive - After you lose a battle, summon a 5/5 Darkspawn)
For hero powers that make minions and are repeatable we had to think about what happens if you generate 3 of them.
Do they triple? Probably because that is how the game works.
So we then had to adjust to balance around that idea. In the end we cut those hero powers because of that weirdness but I could see us ending up with one good one.
It could also be - if you don't have the darkness summon it. Meaning max 1. Still a bit weird once your board is full of 7 minions.

We got all 4 explorers except Reno. Instead of Reno we have a dragon.
RENO IS A DRAGON EVERYBODY!!!
"we couldn't make Reno work soo we ditched him alltogether"
excuse me what? What is it with with game devs these days going "we couuldn't find an easy solution so we just bounced." Do these people not get paid enough to be bothered to actually do their job?
They can't win here. If they took extra time to make it work and delayed the new heroes, people complain about delays. If they decide to ship it to make the deadline even though it's not perfect, people complain they're sloppy. If they don't explain what happened to Reno, people complain they never speak honestly to the fans.
And NOW, if they delay an imperfect hero that doesn't work yet, AND they transparently explain that's what happened, you're complaining they can't "be bothered to actually do their job"? I mean daaaaamn, dude. Chill out.
It's more likely that they needed to meet this patch deadline with four heroes, Reno was having visual issues and wasn't launch ready. Swap him for a functional hero and push 4 working heroes so the customers have new things to play with. I'm sure Reno will arrive in the future.
I guess that would be it. They still worded it poorly
So glad they are expandin it!

Why hate so hard on the Amalgam? Just make your own. Problem solved.
Also, Brann has very little impact on Amalgam directly. His hero power hits a random friendly minion when you battlecry. How does that have anything to do with Amalgam? People use battlecries on a lot more than just amalgam.
fixed so it's more easy to read since he got a point
Nightmare Amalgam is indeed too strong, why wouldn't you pick it? how it is still a 2 star unit? should definitely be a 4 star unit at least so it doesn't reach late game so buffed and isn't just something you ALWAYS buy.
about tribes being better than "normal" minions.. what are normal minions? are there even any normal minions who have a game plan.. it's like in any auto chess game there are tribes.. this game is no different you can't win if you just buy stuff that have no tribes.
Your hatred for amalgam runs so powerfully that it runs off the text box
Maybe Reno has been Sindragosa all along?
Reno is a dragon!
Very interesting Hero Powers. I think Brann will end up being the strongest of the four, cycling Battlecries will now buff your minions even more. Elise might be close second; or even outperform him on average, since she will have much lower skill cap, giving you a lot of early>mid game tempo. You will not sacrifice basically any tempo for upgrading your Tavern and you can even get dibs on the key minions from higher tiers very fast this way. Finley and Sindragosa will end up being good, but maybe hard to play, at least at first.
