This past Tuesday we saw the second Esports bundle show up in the Hearthstone shop which when purchased, helped contribute to the 2020 Hearthstone Esports prize pool. The announced cap has been reached.
HSEsports on Twitter announced that in just two days, the contribution cap of $1,500,000 had been reached! This was twice the amount of money from last year's bundle, meaning with 50% of the proceeds going to Esports, they have sold at least 150,000 bundles. It should be noted though that this isn't going to contribute a huge increase in prizing this year since the amount of Masters Tour events also doubled so it evens out. Regardless, more money for competitive Hearthstone is positive and it is great to see the bar fill up so quickly.
With the cap being reached so quickly, do you think it was set too low? If you purchased the bundle, were you happy with the value?
Quote From HSEsports You did it! The Dragon Masters Bundle has hit the cap!
Thanks to the community, the additional prizing of $1,500,000 will be divided between the six Masters Tour events in 2020!

They shouldn't have a cap next time. That way they will manage to rise the preispool even more, thus making it more and more attractiv for the pro players to play and compete, which in turn will make it even more exciting for us, the viewers and fans.
Bought it on the first day, got 5 legendaries (one of which was Dragonqueen Alexstrasza) + 1 from the bundle itself, so i got 6 overall. Aww, thanks Blizz!
Was it because i buy it on the first day, though? Nah, i don't think so.
Wish they didn't put a cap to these. I'd be more comfortable buying bundles if i knew they benefited the players.
Now that the cap is reached, all purchases now go directly to blizzard's pockets.
150k packs sold. Considering there's 100million player base but i would say only like 10% actually play it whats the math? I mean if theres around 5 to 10million active each week 150k packs sold means 10 to 20% of the players bought it. I would say thats a lot. In f2p games if 10 to 20% of player base actually spend money i would say thats successful.
I just hope this doesn't encourages them to release more paying adventures each set.
The player base isn't 100 million players, that's just the total amount of accounts. Hearthstone at its prime, years ago, was maybe 60% of that.
Tbh, i've never understood the idea of a "cap" to add to the tournament prize winnings.
If i remember correctly, Dota 2 has a system, where a percentage from each purchase within a set time goes towards their large tournaments, which has traditionally resulted in enormous prize pools.
Greed.
Those packs are kind of cool. It's sad that Blizz decided to completely lock them behind a paywall.
Not that I want to complain for every single thing but, like someone wrote under an article a few days ago, it would have been great if this week's brawl rewarded one of these "Year of the Dragon" packs.
Oh well, maybe we'll get them in the shop once the rotation hits in order to help the newcomers get some cards from the Standard year they weren't playing the game. Now that I think of it, it would help a lot.
Maybe they are testing the waters how will players like a pack like this, they can then create different combinations down the road.
Tho that being said, they are mostly only good for new players (which is good) and to get your guaranteed legendary in first 10 packs. If you are a regular player, chances are you would rather get packs from the newest expansions, since whatever else is in a "year pack" you might already have, or at least it would be more than regular chance on a duplicate.
So in the end, while really a cool design, we are not losing that much here by not having them in the shop.
Also, pity timer of the sets does not work with them
Pretty sure ppl reported it did work, so the pity timers are in fact tied to the type of pack, not a set itself, which makes sense ... Golden Classic pack has a separate one outside of regular Classic packs too (if there is any at all for it, but this latest blunder would suggest there actually might be).
Yeah your point is valid.
In the end what brought me to write a post is the charm of the new, in other words something that we've never seen before and that would have been cool to open just for the sake of doing it. Nothing more, nothing less.
I get that and i agree it would have been pretty cool to have it as a brawl reward, but then you would see posts about how unfair it was that someone got the legendary from the 1st pack and others didnt and how now they are "forced" to buy the bundle otherwise they cant get to the pity timer and so on and so on, ppl always find a way to complain about everything :D or maybe im just a pessimist :)
No, unfortunately you're not a pessimist. On average people tend to see the glass half empty rather than half full, and so every single occasion in which someone doesn't get the most out of it justifies a complaint.
Remember the Ragnaros card back drama? Or the Winter Veil brawl that rewards with a Classic pack only people who already own Winter veil wreath?
In the end, you have to get lucky with opening normal packs too: someone hits the pity timer immediately, someone has to wait 38 packs to get Mindflayer Kaahrj (I pity that guy, I wonder who he is...). But yeah, explaining it to certain people might be quite troublesome...
Hey man, Mindflayer Kaahrj is a great card.... when you pick it up randomly.... and there's a good enemy minion to duplicate.... and you don't have any better plays available.... and.... and.... ok, I give up.
