Early Top Decks in Week 1 of Hearthstone's Violet Hold's Expansion

Welcome to the first week (definitely not full, hah) of Escape from Violet Hold, and while the early meta is still very much in its experimental phase, we do have some decks to share! Shaman leads the charge with two entries near the top, Zee and Mug both posting standout numbers, while Warrior sneaks in twice with Lo'Gosh and Egg builds. Rogue, Death Knight, Druid, and Paladin round out a fairly wide class spread, which is exactly what you'd expect while everyone is seeing what sticks.

The usual caveat applies harder than ever right now: these are streamer-tracked runs on tiny samples, so treat these winrates as promising signals rather than truth. Sample sizes range from just 10 games up to 23, so a few coin flips could swing any of these figures. With that in mind, here's what streamers have been playing.

If you're looking to more easily find decks that you can create here on Out of Games with the new cards, you can head on over to our collection manager to fill out your card collection. You'll find calculated dust costs on our deck listing, and if you're an Out of Games PRO member, you can even filter our card database directly to find decks you can create.

Rank 1 - TheoHS's Zee Shaman

90.0% winrate across 10 tracked games this week.

TheoHS opened the expansion with a respectable 90% winrate on Zee Shaman, going 9-1 to top the board.

Rank 2 - Renmen1's Two-Bit Rogue

84.6% winrate across 13 tracked games this week.

Renmen1 piloted Two-Bit Rogue to an 11-2 finish, good for 84.62% across 13 games. The list is also the cheapest near the top at 5,280 dust, which makes it an appealing pickup for anyone wanting to test the archetype without emptying your wallet. Small sample aside, that's a strong showing for a somewhat-budget-friendly Rogue.

Rank 3 - Zeddy's Mug Shaman

82.6% winrate across 23 tracked games this week.

Zeddy's Mug Shaman posted 82.61% over 23 games, the largest sample on the entire list which isn't surprising because Zeddy is quite the game grinder. That extra volume makes this run arguably the most trustworthy of the bunch, and it reinforces Shaman's early grip on the meta. A 19-4 record on a mid-cost 6,840 dust build is a genuinely encouraging result.

Rank 4 - Cantelope's Unholy DK

80.0% winrate across 15 tracked games this week.

Cantelope brought Unholy Death Knight to an 80% winrate across 15 games, going 12-3. At just 4,040 dust, it's the cheapest deck in the top eight of our roundup, which is a great combination of wallet accessibility and results. Death Knight stans looking for an entry point should keep an eye on this.

Rank 5 - Lugozzi's Lo'Gosh Warrior

80.0% winrate across 10 tracked games this week.

Lugozzi matched that 80% mark with Lo'Gosh Warrior, finishing 8-2 over 10 games. It's a smaller sample, so again we can't be certain, but it's enough to flag Warrior as a class worth watching. This is the first of two Warrior appearances in our standings and both decks are making use of the rulebreaking Chainbreaker Hogger which is such a fun looking card.

Rank 6 - Noobuser95's Chef Druid

76.5% winrate across 17 tracked games this week.

Noobuser95 cooked up a 76.5% winrate with Chef Druid, going 13-4 across 17 games. That's a healthy sample and a solid result for Druid's newer brew. At 4,600 dust it's on the affordable end, making it another approachable option for the ladder. Also who doesn't want to be a chef?

Rank 7 - pcontrol72's Pure Paladin

76.5% winrate across 17 tracked games this week.

Pcontrol72 ran Pure Paladin to the same 76.5% and 13-4 line over 17 games. Pure Paladin remains a familiar strategy, and this early data suggests it's carrying over just fine into Violet Hold. The 8,600 dust price tag makes it the most expensive build here, so budget accordingly.

It should be noted however that V'ama, Looming Death is the most expensive addition to the Pure Paladin archetype, so you may already have several of these cards in your collection =).

Rank 8 - LEBED93's Egg Warrior

75.0% winrate across 12 tracked games this week.

LEBED93 closed out the top eight with Egg Warrior at 75%, going 9-3 across 12 games. It's the second Warrior on the list, which nudges the class into the conversation alongside Shaman this week. The sample is modest, but a strong debut for the archetype nonetheless with Hogger doing so much work to create consistency.

That's the early read on Escape from Violet Hold: Shaman looks like the class to beat, Warrior is quietly stacking results, and the field is still wide open across the rest of the ladder. Remember these are streamer samples from a single week, so the picture will change considerably as more games pile up and we start to look more into the true meta data. We'll be back next week!
