Not a murlocs fan but it seems to go well with how it always operated, which is aggro.
Can we just unnerf Fiery War Axe already?
It's a shame how few people know the true glory of fishing pole paladin back in the day, so here's a history lesson.
Back in the days of Classic Crusader Strike didn't exist, and in BC it was your last talent in the Retribution tree. This made it so it didn't matter what weapon was in your hands as your Seals applied to yourself. Weapon skill also existed, which regulated hit chance and damage: low skill missed a lot and did less, high hit and did more. In the case of fishing poles, your Fishing skill was substituted for weapon skill, and could get much, MUCH higher than a normal weapon skill at lower levels. Thus, a paladin could get one of the nicer fishing poles, go into PvP in the mid-levels, and DESTROY anyone on their way. It was stupid fun.
Perfect flavor for the best fishing rod that has ever been. Actually made me do a lot of fishing during Legion.
I feel like Paladin needs a class identity overhaul way more than Priest does.
I'd agree that Paladin has felt like its been going through a midlife crisis for the past couple of years, the classic and basic set actually fit together fairly nicely. What has pushed Paladin to feel so weird is that they do not know what to add in every expansions, and instead of committing on something to make it work, like what they did with dragon priest originally, they just bounce from idea to idea, resulting in cards that just don't work well together.
Basically, if you want to fix paladin's identity you'd have to change the cards in an expansion, which is something I don't see happening.
I guess what makes this Epic and not Legendary is that it doesn't DRAW murlocs from your deck.
If murloc pally is around this is auto include, very strong weapon. 3 mana 3/2 are good stats + generate 2 murlocs.
Oh my god, I'm a stupid racist, I thought that the weapon made him speak Nerglish (murloc language).
And if for some reason this is what they meant with Paladin's new archetype? really?
Okay then. Goodbye Mech Paly, no one misses you.
And still, Blizzard struggles to find a consistent archetype for poor Paladin.
I know this joke is not original, but this card goes straight into the metabreaker Secret Dragon Big Highlander Murloc Zoo Reborn Pure Mech Heal Menagerie Paladin deck that they have been secretly building in the Year of the Dragon. Here's hoping this year will also introduce Beast and Demon synergies to the class.
lol
When I think of Paladins, I imagine holy warriors and knights in shining armour, crusading for the good of the people and are adept at divine magic. When Blizzard thinks of Paladins, they think of Murlocs.
Jokes aside, it might not even be too bad to run outside of Murloc Paladin for generating extra resources, it may be an interesting tool for aggressive decks as a refill plus some face damage. It's probably worse than Ancharrr (I'm so sad Pirate Warrior fell off, I love Pirates and this card in particular) since it can't thin your deck and adds a random Murloc instead of a specific one, but maybe that's not too big of an issue.
ah yes, the most well known weapon of Paladins: the mighty Fishing Rod of Justice
Dat sarcasm :D
Is that rod stuck in that poor murlocs ass?
That looks like the skeleton of a murloc to me.
On the face of it, it's a murloc version of [Hearthstone Card (Ancharr) Not Found], with plenty of practical differences due to class, rarity, random vs draw, and how interested their respective tribes are in weapons.
Regardless of all that though, it's a pretty good card even if you aren't playing a murloc deck. Plus it perhaps takes the top spot in the contest for HS's most silly-yet-magnificent weapon.
Murloc Paladins Rise Up
I really hope Murlocs is not this new "identity" they envision for Paladin.
