Taunt is huge here because it means you don't completely skip your turn. I expect this card to see a lot of play anyway, the effect is just so strong. Wild Reno Priests like to run Lorekeeper Polkelt and if you can chain these two you'll get a 1 Mana Hero Reno for example. Yikes. Standard is probably mainly looking for the synergy with Narain Soothfancy.
I notice I am confused. Something I believe isn't true. How do I know what I think I know?

The Battlecry is pretty good in combination with Narain Soothfancy, and otherwise a risk (unless you're only running expensive things, and in that case your whole gameplan is a risk). I like that it has Taunt, that makes this a lot safer to play on turn 6 against an aggressive deck. I think this has legs and could very well find a home in slower Priest decks.

This seems like you would want it with a Big Priest deck. I'm not aware of any reason Big Priest is going to be a thing.
