Hearthstone's Mercenaries characters gain permanent power as you earn experience while playing with them. The road to level 30, the current level cap of a Mercenary, is a long one with progression getting harder as time goes on. Below you will find the amount of experience that is required per Mercenary level.

What it does tell us is it will take almost 3x the time to get a character to max level than it takes to get to level 20.

Like every rpg xp gain scales with the level of the content you face.
