What is Hearthstone's Basic Set

The Basic set in Hearthstone is one of two "evergreen" sets. The term comes from Magic: The Gathering and refers to keywords that can be used in any of their printed sets. When applied to Hearthstone, we use the word to define a set that is always available in the Standard game mode.

In 2019 and 2020, Hearthstone adjusted which cards were available in the Basic set due to gameplay concerns which shows us that although the Basic set itself will always be available in Standard, the contents of it may change over time. How to Unlock Basic Cards

As a general rule of thumb, Basic cards are unlocked by leveling a particular class to 10. There are a couple of notable exceptions.

• Neutral Basic cards are all unlocked as soon as you get through Hearthstone's tutorial.
• Demon Hunter Basic cards are unlocked after completing the Ashes of Outland Prologue.
  • You will also start at Hero level 20, which normally is Hero level 1.

How to Unlock Druid Basic Cards in Hearthstone

There are 5 card unlocks for Druids in the Basic set. You will unlock 2 copies of each card at the following levels.

• Level 2 - Starfire
• Level 4 - Savage Roar
• Level 6 - Moonfire
• Level 8 - Swipe
• Level 10 - Ironbark Protector

How to Unlock Hunter Basic Cards in Hearthstone

There are 5 card unlocks for Hunters in the Basic set. You will unlock 2 copies of each card at the following levels.

• Level 2 - Animal Companion
• Level 4 - Starving Buzzard
• Level 6 - Hunter's Mark
• Level 8 - Tundra Rhino
• Level 10 - Kill Command

There are 5 card unlocks for Mages in the Basic set. You will unlock 2 copies of each card at the following levels.

• Level 2 - Frostbolt
• Level 4 - Mirror Image
• Level 6 - Frost Nova
• Level 8 - Water Elemental
• Level 10 - Flamestrike

There are 5 card unlocks for Paladins in the Basic set. You will unlock 2 copies of each card at the following levels.

There are 5 card unlocks for Rogues in the Basic set. You will unlock 2 copies of each card at the following levels.
