Hey, all. 

As the title suggests, I am kinda inexperienced, when it comes to hs battlegrounds, and I would appreciate some tips on how to improve my gameplay. Very often I feel like I am making crucial mistakes in the mid game, only because I don't know how to manage my board, how to position some minions and what direction I should take.

Before I continue, I would like to clarify, that I am not interested in achieving a high rating. I just want to try out the cool late-game builds more often. However, I don't always get good or synergistic minions at start and I have absolutely no clue what to buy, in order to increase my chances to survive. In some cases I feel like I am receiving too much damage (cuz my build is probably weak) and I decide to roll and find better minions to replace the current weaker ones instead of upgrading my tavern tier. The problem is, that sometimes I don't get anything good and I fall behind even more so than before.

I wish I could've shared some of my games with you, in order to be more specific, but, sadly, I don't use a deck tracker. Though, I could try to remember some minion choices and mention them here. Before I continue, I would like to add, that I am following the general strategy for the first few rounds: On turn 1, I buy either a token generator or a well-statted minion. On turn 2, I usually upgrade my tier. On turn 3, I sell the bought minion and buy two new ones (if the presented choices are better than my tier 1 minion, that is). If the presented choices are overall weak, then I reroll and try to find a good addition. On turn 4, I usually buy two minions. On turn 5, I upgrade my tavern tier and buy a minion. From there onwards (up until I reach the fifth tier), things become confusing for me. Sometimes I can't evaluate which minion from a certain tribe underperforms and needs to be replaced. This becomes more apparent, when I get stuck with a menagerie build. 

Like I said, I get confused with the minion positioning too. Normally I put the stickier minions in front of the more fragile ones, because they can take several hits. The exceptions are minions, that I use to get rid of divine shields from taunts, being in front, provocative minions (soul juggler) being last and deathrattles that fall in one of those categories. I am also very careful with the taunt positioning, in order to play around cleave, and I try to have only one taunt. But there are many other exceptions to those rules, which I am not knowledgeable in. Like, where should I put poisonous minions? Or big taunts? - I have seen streamers putting them first and last. Where do I keep a hydra in a goldrin-macaw build - after the macaw or the goldrin? I have seen some streamers putting their cleave between both goldrins. 

I am sure I am missing a lot more things to talk about, so your help will be much appreciated. I don't consider myself a beginner, I think I just need more advanced tips. If you understood my case and know some helpful links, I will gladly check them out.

I'm prolly just ignorant here but Why Doesn't Blizzard do More Crowdfunding Promos to Increase the Prize Pools of Tournaments?

By this mean, promos like the pack promo earlier this year where 50% of the income was used to increase the prize pool of Masters.

Why don't we have more of these? I'm thinking bigger prize pools would be better for all the players. For example, they could increase the consolation prize for players, they could increase the prizes from 3rd place below, etc.

I personally wouldn't mind buying more packs if they support the competitive side of HS.

So about 2 months ago I just kinda short-circuited and uninstalled Hearthstone for the first time in years (which I assume all of you have noticed seeing how I was clearly the most illustrious personality on this site and my sudden absence must have been considered a national tragedy comparable to the Hindenburg disaster).

Surprisingly enough during that whole time I didn't actually miss Hearthstone at all. It was an incredibly freeing experience and I would honestly recommend it to anyone who feels burnt out with the game. Losing a few months of gold/cards really isn't that bad now that you easily get all your rares and commons within the first 30 packs of a new expansions anyways.

Spent my time catching up with League again, but now that has lost its appeal again and since the new expansion is just around the corner (and I thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to cash in on the nerf refunds) I decided to check back in.

Now obviously I'm not completely out of the loop, but I thought it would be fun to let you people give me a TL;DR of the last two months, just so I can get into the spirit of losing my sanity once I realize why I quit in the first place.

Also, if you wanna hear a funny anecdote: I quit just before the Priestess of Fury nerfs hit so despite holding on to my extra copies because I knew it would get hit eventually I still didn't manage to actually cash in on the extra dust...and the funny thing is I don't even really care anymore. i realized I was way too focused on trying to maximize ressources when I barely even used them. I'm really going to try and focus on just building fun decks now and probably only play every other day for fun and quests while I let my absurdly large dustbin and draconic dusting policy carry me through the expansions.

Was thinking of a good way to nerf rez priest that would still make the deck playable and it came to me. Make the rez mechanic the same as in Skyrim. 

If you don't know in skyrim you have spells to resurrect things,just like in hearthstone, those things come to life and do your bidding even though they're dead. But after they die a second time, after being reanimated they turn to ash, and you can't resurrect them again. This is the change to rez priest that i think would be the best for both sides. Priest can still be bullshit resurrecting the lich king or ragnaros, but not several times throughout the game, they would have to play more minions which would dilute their pool so they wouldn't automatically get the lich king or ragnaros, or statue every time. This would make the deck less consistent, and make it easier to win against.

The story:

It takes place in the Jade Forest on Pandaria and revolves around the Order of the Cloud Serpent, so prepare for Dragons, Pandaren and …

Mounts!
Every class gets a Legendary Mount card to help them win the race. With the exception of Druid I used their WoW class mounts for these. I’m really surprised Blizzard hasn’t walked down this path a long time ago. They are so cool!

Winning The Great Air Race will not only be a matter of speed, but also of endurance. This trait will be illustrated by my custom

New Keyword: Stamina (x)!

Protect your Stamina minions and reap amazing rewards! Stamina is basically a fun and interactive version of Dormant. It forces players to pay more attention to their opponent’s board and brings back trading minions as a key element of Hearthstone.

As you can see, I didn’t find art for all the WoW stuff I wanted to make cards of. If anyone happens to be able to help me out with this, I’d be very grateful. I’m also open to any kind of feedback. This custom expansion is far from complete and will probably be a long term side project. I’ll happyly adjust the balance of my cards if you have any concerns.

Imgur has caused problems for me right from the start. If I use the mobile app, it usually doesn't upload more than one image. If I try to upload a second one, an error occurs after some time and the image appears as "hidden" in my galery without a thing I could do about it but delete it. I usually work around this by loging in via browser in desktop mode. If I upload this way, I also receive error notifications (though different ones), but the images get uploaded properly nevertheless. 

This time, I wanted to upload 28 images for my custom expansion and started out on my laptop for this special occasion. The first 15 went smoothly, but now imgur says "Something went wrong with CREATE_ALBUM_FAIL. Please try later" and that's that. Mobile doesn't work, Internet Explorer doesn't work, Chrome doesn't work. On top of this, the community on imgur seems to be made of very special people. I created my account with WCDC 1 and don't use it for anything else but custom HS cards. Every one of them gets downvoted to hell, no matter if I tag them as custom HS content or not.

So I tried to look for alternatives and uploaded my stuff to Flickr. That went smoothly and it was even possible to organize the images in an album while still being able to copy indivudal links for all of them, something I couldn't manage with imgur. This time, I wasn't able to post the image in a forum post. I tried the links provided via "share", "embed" and "BBCode". No display in here.

Any ideas how to solve this?

Looking at the nerf patch date and the proximity to august, the new expansion WILL be announced before the 14 July patch that means either tomorrow or in 2 days cause they normally patch the game to put the pre-order bundle.

So any guesses/expectation what's the expansion is gonna be about?

hoping for an expansion about an old warcraft event  since I didn't play wow, TBH I didn't see any hint or something about the expansion.. looking at the nerfed cards we might see more impactful dragons, high cost rogue cards and strong warrior weapons.. but as a theme.. no clue apart from the article in the site.

I didn't create this class for anything in particular; just had the idea and kept the ball rolling long enough to get something concrete made haha. Last time, I made Kel'Thuzad the Lich class...and got some flak for using an already-existing, popular character (because that could theoretically be seen as a means of gaining bonus points in the eyes of the voters). Well, that won't be a problem this time around, as my class is completely new and original. I am assuming this class existed from the start, so it will not follow the Demon Hunter model. So without any further ado:

Alraunes are beautiful plant-women, who often use said beauty to lure men to their deaths. I toned down the "sexiness" and made her an angry force of Nature: as an Alraune, you will control life itself, bringing to bear the plants and the trees of this world as you seek to reclaim Azeroth from the filthy humans and orcs who have done it harm. You will grow new forces from the earth, sweep across the land as a cleansing balm, and tear down the mammals' structures to make way for your new world. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and this woman is hell-a pissed.

Gameplay Summary

Aisha's gameplay reflects her status as a being of Nature. She can flood the board with new life, or empower her minions into superior constructs. She can poison her enemies, or wrap them up in vines. The possibilities seem endless when you can quite literally grow what you need to win the war against the mammals.

• Growing new/better minions - Aisha uses her powers to cultivate life, enhancing minions with bonus stats and new abilities. The Druid likes minions that are big; the Alraune likes to make her minions big, or grow new ones.
• Board control - Whether through her weapons, her minion effects, Poisonous, etc.; the Alraune is strong at contesting the board.
• 1-Durability Weapons - Extensions of herself, Aisha's weapons come and go as quickly as she desires. In exchange for their lacking Durability, her weapons often come with powerful effects on them.
• Seedlings - A mechanic unique to the Alraune, Seedlings function like a cross between Animal Companion and Nithogg's eggs. Summon a Seedling, defend it for a turn, and watch it grow into one of two kinds of plants.

However, all classes need a weakness. Aisha's power comes mainly through her physical attributes, and not from spells or clearing abilities. She needs a force she can nurture and grow; repeatedly destroy her plants, and the Alraune will become helpless.

Seedlings

As I alluded to above, Seedlings are the Alraune's special thing, like Totems (and Overload) for the Shaman. Many spells and minions come with an additional effect of summoning a Seedling, which are helpless 0/3 minions. However, if you can defend the Seedling, it will turn into either a 3/3 Thorn Spitter or a 3/3 Moon Blossom, both of which come with their own end-of-turn effect. You can tell what they'll turn into the moment the Seedling is summoned, so both players understand what's about to happen.

Each of the sets can be found in their own spoilers below, with everything that doesn't have a home yet in "The Rest" section. Let me know what you think, and I'll keep workin' on it. Considering how early I am in the design process, keep in mind that everything here is up for debate balance-wise.

I just wanted to put this out there for people to comment on. I had an idea for the Great Ak.'s ability in Battlegrounds. What do you guys think if his ability was costed at 0 gold and gave you an option of 3 secrets. When you choose a secret, you lose gold equal to the cost of the secret. If you're at 0 gold when you use the ability, it does nothing; if at 1 gold, it only offers 1 cost secrets; at 2 gold, it offers 1 and 2; and at 3+ gold it offers the entire pool.

Idk, makes his ice block weaker, but could make him more useful overall?

Just in case I'm not the only one who missed it: HSReplay has finally extended their deck tracker to mobile! Look for "Arcane Tracker" in your app store (Android only as far as I can tell).

I noticed it yesterday in a Reddit post with a screenshot. Played about 10 games with it. Seems to run smoothly, doesn't use up too much space on the screen, very convenient!

Hi, I just wanted to make this thread to discuss how HS could potentially learn from the innovations that LoR introduced and make the game better. Of course, HS is very unlikely to change any of its core gameplay even if it would be an improvement (due to it confusing new and returning players) but I think it could be an interesting thought experiment. Alternatively, this could be a new game mode!

1. Spell Mana: In LoR up to 3 of your unspent Mana can be kept as Spell Mana, which you can only spend on spells. HS could just directly implement Spell Mana, but I think it'd be more fitting for how HS works to make it so that any unspent Mana you have at the end of the turn reduces the cost of your next Hero Power by that much. This would allow players to play off-curve more often and might occasionally lead people to purposefully not spend Mana to save it for their next Hero Power. Additionally, it would make Inspire cards more interesting and viable.

2. Rounds instead of turns: In LoR, players also gain Mana at the start of their opponent's turn, and whenever a player plays a card the other player may play a card in response. One player has all the odd Mana turns and the other player has all the even Mana turns. HS could have a similar version of this, where whenever a player plays a minion their opponent gets initiative. Spells and minions would still resolve immediately, but with initiative swapping the opponent would still have the chance to react. For example, if your opponent plays a charge minion you could play a Taunt minion in response, or destroy the charge minion with a spell. Attacking would still work like normal and not swap initiative, which would encourage players to attack at the start of their turn. The advantage of this system is that it allows for counterplay and is a lot more engaging. It also eliminates the advantage for the first player.

What do you all think about these changes? Would this work in regular HS, or would it be better as a new mode? 

Excruciating. Feels like the longest wait ever for one. Wasn’t a big fan of AoO, pretty much why but I have a feeling this new one will be really good. Maybe news tomorrow. Sigh!

I prolly just missed it, but what were the 2 locked features of Phase 1?

I put together a detailed guide of every decision I made while playing Maiev. This was at 10.8k MMR in Americas Server. Some of the key points:

• Try to use your hero power as much as possible in the early game without being too picky, don't tier up on turn 2
• In the mid game, use your hero power on economy targets (pirate that sells for 3 gold or pirate that reduces your hero power tier cost), buff targets (cards that will buff your board that you don't need right away) or for possible triples in the future that you don't need to buy right away.
• The key to optimizing your hero power is planning ahead. Do you want to spend 3 gold now to strengthen your board or spend 1 gold to have it provide even better value in a future turn? Key considerations would be board state, your overall health and strength of the lobby, and whether or it helps you get a triple (do you want to discover a minion now or discover a higher tier minion later on?)
• Don't focus too much on the +1/+1 aspect of your hero power, that's just an added bonus

Just wondering what others thought about getting an alternative 'wild-themed' card back for hitting legend in wild.  It could just be a re-work of the usual one with a few more wild-esque flourishes.

As a mainly standard, occasional wild player, I think I might be more motivated to try and hit legend in wild if it resulted in an alternative card back.
