A Less Friendly Game of Chess
Things have gotten a little underhanded at Medivh's Magical Chessboard. Bring 6 unique cards and hide them under the table, they could swing the match in your favor!
How It Works
- Select a class and build a 6 card deck; 15 auto-attacking chess piece cards (first introduced in One Night in Karazhan solo content) will be added to it.
- The starting deck will have 8 Pawns, 2 Bishops, 2 Rooks, 2 Knights, and 1 Queen.
- You'll start from 20 Health, and play as White King or Black King. Your Hero Power is Castle.
- Hero Cards, as well as Whizbang and Zayle are banned.

Thanks for the suggestion. There's not a chance I would've remembered that card existed on my own.
I dont like this one :/
There might be a bug in this edition (February 2022). Opponent conceded on turn 7 and I got my pack, but my daily and weekly quests weren't credited (play mage; win 5 arenas/battlegrounds/brawls)!
A few more details:
Why have they banned some evolve effects, but not all? I had a quick, easy win yesterday with Explosive Evolution and Bogstrok Clacker, among other things.
Hero cards are banned. Lord Jaraxxus however is not.
If you want to goof around, that's a pretty good meme to do it with. Hero Power + Shadowflame isn't too shabby either considering everything has 6 HP.
I won with Jaraxxus as well. Also pulled off a decent meme with Silas and Howlfiend. Discarded 4 of their cheat cards so their game plan was pretty much hosed.
Shocker, I went Warlock and used Plague of Flames, Raise Dead, Wicked Whispers, Shadow Council, Defile, and Shadowflame. I've not gone past turn 6 without my opponent conceding.
Tried it, lost the first game at turn 6 but the second one I won. Barely.
I'm probably playing it wrong.
To be fair... my post on this was from last year. There could be a better combination no
I hate chess brawls. Thanks for making something equally annoying as the brawl itself.
For the lazy:
# 1x (0) Raise Dead
# 1x (1) Plague of Flames
# 1x (1) Shadow Council
# 1x (1) Wicked Whispers
# 1x (2) Defile
# 1x (4) Shadowflame

Tried it since I didn't know what to do and won turn 4 with random demons. Great deck!
Thanks for the tip, I'll try this out
Maybe not the best, but still my favorite deck for this Brawl! I mean, when else can you play Wailing Soul unironically?!?!
After winning a bunch with very mediocre and useless cards. Obviously didn't really get it at the start, but luckily neither did my opponents, so just played for tempo and won, also, discovering the Queen every times helps a little.
Then I decided that I could've/should've just put together a weapon, buff it and just go face, so I did.
1x Waggle Pick
1x Deadly Poison
1x Tinker's Sharpsword Oil
1x Preparation
1x Goblin Auto-Barber
1x Naga Corsair
Worked pretty well.
This worked for me!
After about 10 games, I came to the conclusion that the 6 card's decklist don't make much of a difference*. It is mostly about your starting hand, tempo and keeping a steady aggression. The moment you start playing defensively, you most likely have already lost.
*Some card, such as Vanish, Imp Gang Boss & Mal'Ganis - to only name a few - have noticeable effect
Cybertech Chip has been the MVP for me. Played on a full board, it refills your hand with mechs of a variety of cost. With the extra cards and the ability to play on curve and go face, it's easy to outclass their production. The dark horse award goes to Faceless Rager which gives you a 5/6 early in the game. Of course, you could always decide to play Warrior and Explore Un'Goro. Here's the deck I used:
Tried running Drakkari Enchanter to double up on attacks.
Didn't work. I guess Auto-Attack isn't considered an end of turn effect.
