Solid card. Play something cool for 8 mana, then drop this for free.
"Be excellent to each other." -Bill and Ted
This is pretty much won't see play.
First of all, 7 mana 6/6 is so terrible.
Secondly, Holding this dead card until you play an 8 mana card is very hard, (hard means, you don't always add a 8+ mana card in your deck) and the upside? only getting a 6/6 taunt on the same turn.
And the last would be, I can't think of any deck would wanna add this. Maybe there are some, but there are many more better cards too.
Knowledge is Power
This might be a godlike arena pick think about it corrupted its a 0 mana 6/6 with taunt on turn 9 or 10
TOTAL CORRUPTION
TOTAL POWAAAAAAA
They talk in the video about how this synergizes with Y'shaarj, and I'm just here scratching my head as to how. The corrupt version gets no benefit from Y'shaarj returning it to your hand and will generally be outclassed by higher value corrupt cards. That said, I think it could see play for other reasons they mentioned, primarily that its a good play immediately after an expensive board clear or greedy play. I don't think this makes the cut in dedicated Y'shaarj lists though.
This reminds me of Anubisath Defender or Arcane Tyrant, both of which saw a moderate amount of play. This can be a good followup to a board clear, or can help add a lot extra pressure to your other big board swinging plays. If you can consistently play big cards, I don't see why you wouldn't want this. I don't think it will be played a whole lot, but I will be greatly surprised if this doesn't end up seeing play somewhere.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
The likelihood of casting an 8 cost card with this in your hand, or holding onto it to be able to cast it for free is going to be rough. BUT... if you should so happen to do it, having a free 6/6 taunter on deck isn't a bad thing. If you should so happen to have a Twisting Nether in your hand along with this, remove the board, then drop this... that's awesome. That is one hell of a set up though.
incredible card. Will see play in nearly every Y'Shaarj, the Defiler deck. Not all of them probably want them, depending on what kind of Y'Shaarj, the Defiler deck you use. 0 mana 6/6 taunt is nothing to scoff at. Other cards that did something familiar are Anubisath Defender and Arcane Tyrant, and those see/saw a lot of succes. The only thing i can say that's bad about Strongman is that you need to play a 8+ cost card in order to corrupt it. But it still is powerful after casting big spells like Twisting Nether and Power of Creation.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
Really good, I guess we will mostly see this in control decks anyway.
Very polarized early opinions on this, and I can understand why. It's really hard to evaluate if the corruption is really worth it, and I'm currently among the non-believers. Too big requirement for too little reward.
Has potential to see play in any druid decks that were running Anubisath Defender. I doubt that any other classes have much use for this however.
This post is discussing the wild format.
Very good filler card for psychmelon in druid i think. potential synergy? idk i'll have to see when the entire set is out, but so far we have a lot of big 8 mana spells that lose tempo and this seems good to counter that, at least in theory.
Living like that.
At lategame you can play a highcost board clear and then that guy.
I think that is weak, maybe can see play in arena.
By The Holy Light!
This is a very weird card. It's one of the weakest when in base form, but one of the strongest when in Corrupted form. You could play a huge card and then get a free 6/6 Taunt, but then you have to hold onto a really weak card for several turns.
I don’t see this working out, since the card is at such huge odds with itself. However, if HS history has taught us anything, never discount cards that can be reduced to 0!
This ain't no place for a hero
Or drop two for free, if one were so inclined.
if ramp druid is good it might be used
It depends on whether or not there are higher-value cards in every class. A 6/6 Taunt isn't horrible, and getting an extra one in your hand isn't bad either (even if it technically gets "no benefit").
A man is lying on the street, some punks chopped off his head
I'm the only one who stops to see if he's dead.
Hmm. Turns out he's dead.
druid could use this guy having more defence while playing guardian animals the deck has enough draw and kaelthas.. maybe who knows..
Maybe you run it in Corrupt decks... but clunky really clunky
I am envoy from nowhere in nowhere. Nobody and nothing have sent me. And even though it is impossible I exist. ©Trimutius
I feel like they have learned their lesson with cheat/discount play.
Its a Corridor Creeper that won't see nearly as much play - if any ^^
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
That's a good effect, in that you can play this on the same turn you're corrupting it, unlike the other corrupt cards.
Unfortunately, you do have to wait to play an 8-mana spell/minion in order to drop this for free. This will probably be best suited for some big spell/minion decks, though whether it actually merits inclusion is debatable. A 6/6 with taunt isn't very exciting.
This is one of those cards where it's either amazing or terrible. We'll only find out when the expansion launches though
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
Very good if you manage to play it for free.
Very regular if you didn't manage to corrupt it
Best use of this card is by having a board on the same turn you Twisting Nether. Seeing as how they are pushing a control style Corrupt Warlock, I can see this card being in the deck. However, I'm not too sure whether or not Corrupt Warlock will rise above Tier 3, considering how bad warlock is atm.
Rating cards on coolness factor rather than predicting power because I like screwing up rating averages (and because I suck at predicting real power levels, but we'll ignore that LUL)
Wins per class (2/6/22): DH-197; Druid-996; Hunter-91«60; Mage-1056; Paladin-1126; Priest-746; Rogue-961; Shaman-1095; Warlock-871; Warrior-906
Perhaps the strongest swing card yet. But its likely home is warlock and priest, where board clears are plenty and expensive, and this card as a follow up is just broken.
Maybe also in shaman? But I'm a little skeptical. Its just a card that will always find itself in control decks. Even on its own, its at least a taunt, so that's not really a waste of space neither.
What about druid? they do have Cenarion Ward and they can just cheat the game by ramping.
I eat your fast food spare changes when you sleep.
There's definitely something. There's Guardian Animals and Survival of the Fittest
But since guardian druid is not really good anymore, and most have now transition to mountseller, the only card that can corrupt this is survival of the fittest. So it lacks consistency
I like Cenarion Ward, but I remain skeptical of its usage, mostly because Exotic Mountseller turns is still in my opinion, the best way to play druid. I might be wrong, but mountseller into yogg? I don't see why this wouldn't be the apex for druid at least for the first week.
Defenitley has potential. Even tough it does not seem that good at first i think this is one of the cards that will be underestimated.
Challenge me ... when you're ready to duel a god!
Seems good when it pops off but otherwise absolutely terrible I wouldn't want to play a 7 mana 6/6 taunt but playing an 8 mana card and then being able to puke out two of these all in one turn seems powerful
Self proclaimed good at battlegrounds
Really solid card, my prediction is that it will still not see play in constructed though.
This is basically the fastest corrupt card in terms of the corrupt benefit. Very akin to Arcane Tyrant and Anubisath Defender in that it allows you to justify playing your high cost cards as you get a 6/6 taunt to catch up or further cement your lead. I think [Hearthstone Card (Strongarm) Not Found] will be a staple in any Y'Shaarj, the Defiler deck.
For glory, honor, and gold!
The funny part is it's not even cost reduced when it's gotten from Y'Shraj. But yea otherwise not that strong.
"Some inspirational quote from some famous person" - Some famous person
This card reminds me of Anubisath Defender, and I think it finds a place in the same class, Druid.
you heard of 4 mana 7/7, now prepare for 0 mana 6/6 taunt
All hail the banshee queen.
With Y'Shaarj the corrupted one costs zero. Think of the value!
A little bit clunky, but if you are building towards the Old Gods anyway, you can probably afford to play a 6/6 taunt on 8+ mana turns.
Hey, you heard about that Mario guy?
Great for slower decks that play expensive spells, but it has to be in hand to take advantage. For all that, it's a free 6/6 Taunt which by the time you play an 8 or greater cost card could be easily dealt with by your opponent. Might be fun in a Survival of the Fittest deck, but those decks can already run Anubisath Defender and that card can be free in a lot more ways.
I don't want to cure cancer; I want to turn people into dinosaurs.
This is Y'Shaarj's new best friend
This is another one that seems strong on paper, but might be hard to implement in practice. Not being able to get value until you draw it and corrupt it will make it dead in hand many times.
Unfortunately, common sense isn't as common as it should be.
Seems too winmore to be worth the deckslot, since if you aren't casting it for 0 it's way too weak, and when you are you're probably already doing just fine.
