Reward Track & Tavern Pass
For the first time in Hearthstone's history, Hearthstone's progression system is being changed!
Here is everything revealed that you need to know so far.
Table of Contents
Progression System Summary
- Launches on November 12, alongside Achievements!
- The Reward Track is the name of the new progression system.
- In addition to awarding gold, you will be able to earn other rewards such as card packs from Standard, tavern tickets, legendary cards and more!
- Quests no longer offer gold, but award experience points (XP) that will be used in the Reward Track.
- In addition to Daily Quests, Weekly Quests are being added!
- Every expansion will feature a brand new Rewards Track, so you have about 4 months to complete all 50 levels.
- After completing all 50 levels, every level earned afterwards will award 150 gold instead.
- A paid version of the Rewards Track, called the Tavern Pass, will be present. While sharing the same leveling system, it will feature its own rewards on top of the Rewards Track and provide a permanent +10% XP boost for future experience points.
- Rewards from the Tavern Pass will only award cosmetic items. All gold and card packs earned will be from the Rewards Track.
Progression - Earning EXP
Every new expansion will bring with it a new Reward Track that consists of 50 levels of rewards.
Currently, there are 3 main ways of earning XP points on the Reward Pass:
- Playing the game in any mode.
This include Battlegrounds, Arena and the new Duels mode! - Completing select achievements in the new Achievements System.
New achievements will be added with every expansion, future game modes and every major update. - Completing Daily and Weekly Quests.
Every week, you'll be given 3 weekly quests. While these quests take more time than daily quests, in turn, they award more XP as well. Like daily quests, one weekly quest can be rotated for another weekly quest daily.
Do note that XP values in the above image are not final!
Rewards
When designing the Reward Track, Blizzard has designed it in such a way where there is more flexibility in earning rewards. This in turn allows them to offer a wider variety of rewards to offer to the player-base.
Here are the rewards that we currently know so far from the Madness at the Darkmoon Faire Reward Track! Once the full Reward Track is released, this list will be updated accordingly.
Reward Track
- Gold, gold and more gold!
- Card Packs from sets in Standard.
- Tavern Tickets that grant access to either Arena or Duels.
- 1 Epic Card, awarded at level 5.
- 2 Legendary Cards, awarded at levels 1 and 25.
- "Madness at the Darkmoon Faire" Card Back, awarded at level 10.
- A choice of Hero Skin from every class, awarded at level 50.
- After level 50, every level gained will reward the player with 150 gold.
Tavern Pass
So far, the Tavern Pass seems to offer only cosmetic items. Thus, other than the +10% XP boost helping the player to level up, all card packs and gold rewards are relegated to the Reward Track.
- +10% EXP Boost for the duration of the expansion.
- Golden Silas Darkmoon, awarded at level 1.
- Three Jaina Hero Skins, of which two are awarded at levels 5 and 20.
- Annhylde Alternate Warrior Hero and Card Back, awarded at level 25.
- Three Thrall Hero Skins, of which two are are awarded at levels 30 and 45.
- Darkmoon Coin, a Cosmetic Coin awarded at Level 50.
Comments
Did they say how much the new tavern pass costs?
So we have to buy the 80 pc bundle to get the battleground perks plus this pass?
No news yet unfortunately. The guide will be updated with a lot more information once it is released!
Based on earlier reports, I have confidence the reward track will be on par with or better than the existing rewards system. The only cosmetic I *really* want is the coin; any chance the tavern pass is purchasable with gold?
We're going to see how it is in practice first and foremost. Is a certain amount of xp equal to 60 gold is going to be the baseline in my opinion. This still sounds grindier as hell. Before you could get a pack by doing two quests minimum. That means every 2 days youd get a pack. I doubt the system would be better than that. And I dont even like that system.
By making it shiny and new, introducing cool rewards like progressive hero replacements and free legendaries, cosmetic coins(which sounds absolutely worthless to me btw idk why it's a big end goal like it is) they could be trying something more sinister than any old god blind siding us from seeing the big picture. And that is that gold would be harder to achieve for anyone that isnt a slave to arena, or has mommy's credit card.
They've guaranteed that your conspiracy theory is not the case, and it will be extremely easy to run the math on it once it's released and we know all the details. Stop acting hysterical, take a breath, and see what happens.
You got me, what i speculated three weeks ago when we had no proof of anything was wrong. Me saying we'll have to learn the real values before we really know about the system was correct. You satisfied? You happy with yourself? lmao
Woooow. Salty much?
I'm not the one digging up 3 week old comments, to try to prove i'm smarter
Look at the screenshots, though. I know these aren't "final" values (whatever that means, since they are subject to change at any time), but you can see that it takes 1200 XP to get from level 3 to level 4 on the track. In the other shot, you see that one easy daily quest earns you 1000 XP. So yes, two quests will get you a reward of some kind. It won't always be gold, but I'm sure it's always worth at least as much as a pack, whether it's an actual pack, 100+ gold, an epic card, or a tavern ticket.
See they proved it'll be good. Suck on that three week old comment when we didn't know anything about this system and blizzard was hesistant to show us actual numbers
I'm not sure what I did to provoke such hostility. I was only pointing out things I figured you must not have noticed.
But if you are dead set on being pessimistic about it, don't let me stop you.
Its the sort of thing I would need to see for myself, but I guess the biggest question to me will be how much gold does it award in total, and how much exp you need after lvl 50 to get 150g more.
Depending on that, it might be a very slight upgrade to the current system.
A daily reward and monthly reward login system would still be welcome though
The new system makes it so that any game you play will count towards your progress, which is great! Now you can enjoy Battlegrounds or Tavern Brawls guilt free without worrying about your progression or getting gold for packs.
I suppose the greatest caveat would be how much XP a single game will award and whether it will cap out your XP earned in a day (which is SUPER GREEDY). Whatever it is, I am positive that it will award way more than 10 gold for 3 wins.
I can't say for sure how much of an improvement this will be to current reward system, but since I almost exclusively play Battlegrounds nowadays I love that that contributes to earning xp for the pass as well.
Is there still a reward for every third win?
Yeah, a Turkey will flash on screen
No point blank explanation if we are able to amass around 6k gold per expansion. Opening 70 to 80 packs on day one of each expansion as a f2p is the joy of everyone. Not sure of it still a possibility
Don't know if it's better or worse but at least it's fresh.
Does someone know if before November 12 we should use all our normal old daily missions? or should we keep 3?
i believe was said we should before then ideadly do al normal dailies
This makes me wonder if they are going to reset everyone's XP to 0 per class in an effort to level them up on this track.
